Before reading this guide
Build some basic concepts of gameplay first. Know the user interface, gaming modes, map icons and squad rules by reading those articles below. It’s super useful and doing so improves your gaming experience a lot.

Identify a working squad and know those common tactics
Alright, first of all, go join a squad. It’s a must you join one, or why play Squad? Click a squad with available slots and you’re in. Now, please check the squad leader’s(SL) icon, if the SL is not using a SL kit, leave it immediately or you will become the victim of creating a squad and picking free kit. What’s more, if the SL creates a squad and left it, leaving you and others playing hot potato with SL rule, exit the current squad and find a new one.

The squad leader welcomed everyone in and announced his plan. Generally, the common order given by SL would be like this, we’re taking the most common AAS mode as example.

“We’re attacking this point, and setting a FOB here.”
>Your squad is going to clear an area and set up defense.
>Your mission is to hold the point tight until friendlies arrived.

“We’re back caping point A and C.”
>Your squad is going to capture the first and the second point.
>It’s importance cannot be overemphasized.
>Those Willing to jump off the truck and do back capping deserve a medal

“We’re rushing this point.”
>Your squad is rushing to enemy’s first or second cap.
>This tactic is used to stop opponents from back capping.
>You’re task is to kill anyone in the capping area.

Always REMEMBER your mission!
Do not jump off vehicles and do your own things.
Choosing rules
During my first 100hrs of gameplay, I only played basic rifleman with optic or medic.

I’ll recommend medic first, because you’ll learn the essential skill to reduce the time of showing spawn screen on your monitor. Staying behind squaddies and watch how others fight, you’ll find out those who play Rambo always die in the open, and those stay in covers will live longer. You’ll learn who’s worth reviving and who’s not. What’s more, it’s a good opportunity to earn team points by reviving and healing your teammates.

Once you’re familiar with the battlefield, playing as optics rifleman is your chance to learn more skills to survive and outplay your foe. Now it’s your turn to maneuver in covers and takedown enemies. Since you already have medic experience, you’ll also know those behaviors which make you die fast, and doing what else makes you live longer. Remember that it’s all about survival, not scoring kills. You need to stay alive to capture control points.

(In V12, riflemen are equipped with ammo bags, which are useful for the team, deploy it!)

Fire support roles should be avoided, unless you’re absolutely sure that you can be good at them. Automatic Rifleman, Machine-gunner, Anti Tank, Grenadier and Marksman. Those rules are to be reserved for those who are familiar with gameplay and have greater experiences. It’s always better to play basic squad rules than having F’ed up critical RPG shots and being called a noob.
On the way to battlefield
Normally, your squad will be taking transport truck or armored personnel carriers(APC). And it’s a good habit to stick with your SL after dismounting from vehicles, because it’s common to drop a rally point or a FOB radio at that moment. And your SL needs one squad mate for rally, and two teammates for a radio.

Also, when being asked to dump supplies from logistics truck, remember it’s left click and hold, and pressing 1 or 2 switches them between construction materials and ammunition. And it’s also a good habit to drive the truck away from FOB and hide it, which makes it difficult for your enemy to find the radio.

Remember : Left click to build, right click to destroy!

BTW, in V12, logi trucks are extremely essential, run it and everyone in your team will always give you a high five!
Con....Contact!
Scan your surroundings frequently, please check this guide about acquiring enemy troops and hiding yourself from being spotted.

https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1407023284

If you do spot something and you’re unsure about it, open your tactical map and check if any friendlies from that direction. Also, learn to recognize friendly or hostile vehicles. Don’t call all vehicles BTR, it’s good for your SL’s blood pressure.

Here’s a common mistake, if you see some enemies, and they hadn’t spotted you. Please, report it in radio, don’t just open fire and leave teammates clueless. Remember, if you tell everyone about enemy troops, that’s your squad versus enemy squad. If you keep mouth shut and just engage, that will become yourself versus a whole squad.

What’s more, always use leaning function (Press Q or E) to check corners. Exposing your face and weapon only is far safer than showing enemies your whole body.

If you took a quick peek from a corner and spotted enemies. Never take the second or the third peek from the same place. They may have already noticed you and aimed their weapon at your direction. Memorize their locations and circle around, do not just play face on.

Radio Communication
Always keep your radio message brief, clear and to the point. Keep unnecessary sh*t talks in local voice, your teammates may be in hurry to tell the SL that defense point has been overrun, only to end up being blocked by your bul*sh*tteries about your dog.

Saying names cloud make people understand you better. Draw their attention and deliver the message is the key to improving communication efficiency. It can be like this: "Chris, there is a Stryker driving to Geneva from northwest."

To be more informative, if you can include more useful intel in your message, try asking yourself: "If I am the message receiver, what does he/she expect the most?" For example, if I’m an anti-tank rule, I will definitely give my squaddies a high five if they say: "Chris, enemy Stryker on the crossroad northwest of Geneva, facing east." Because now I have both exact target location and its orientation, which gives me advantage to shoot its rear armor.

And, yes, always include directions in your contact report. And you must use valid direction references. Except all of your teammates are advancing in the same direction, saying left or right sometimes doesn’t work. Try use those fixed grid marks which don’t move as reference, then everyone could know the exact location.

“They are here!”
>Ah, it's a bit useless, we know they're here already.

“Enemy on me! On me!”
>Who is "ME" ? We don't have time to check speaker name and then check map during intense fight. It will be better if you include your name.

“Chris, enemy to your left!”
>This is better, but how if I just made a turn in a tight corner? Where's my "Left" now?

“Chris, enemy infantry to your southwest across the field.”
>Great one, now I have both contact direction and reference object.

“Chris, two contacts north of you, moving to the west side of the tallest apartment building.”
>Excellent, we have contact number, valid reference point and tracking intel.

Using bearings should only be restricted in local voice, since not everyone in the squad are staying at the same fix, it’s useless to say bearings in squad channel. If you do need to say bearing in squad comm, always include a solid reference point.

“Enemy BTR 045!”
>Not good if used in squad channel, check the picture above.

“Enemy BTR 045 from radio station!”
>Good one, now we have a solid reference.

“Enemy BTR, 045, 100m from radio station.”
>It's even better, bearing and range.
Weapon Usage and Trigger Discipline
There’s a saying about marksmanship in the army of my country. "Don’t fire if you can’t see it clear. Don’t fire if you can’t make a steady aim. Don’t fire if it can’t score a hit."

Pick shots carefully, doing so not only conserves ammo but lowers your noise emission. If you just need one bullet to kill, make it just one shot. If you’re facing multiple contacts, remember that I mentioned informing teammates in the chapter above?

Always ask yourself: "What’s the best moment to pull the trigger?" When preparing to engage. If the gun fight has already begun, it’s okay to suppress enemies or neutralize them freely. But, during a sneaky surprise assault or ambush. Please, please, please, never be trigger happy.

Yes, you may kill one or two, but opening fire blows your squad’s cover immediately. Remember: the latter your squad got spotted, the more possible for you to takedown enemy strongholds easily. So, if you hear "Weapons cold", "Hold your fire" or "Return fire only". Just don’t be that guy who ruined the SL's plan.

To some players, yes, you have a pistol, it has ♥♥♥♥*y damage and accuracy, seems not as useful as primary weapon . But it doesn’t mean that you can pull it out and randomly make PAMPAMPAMPAMPAMPAM noise. It’s not cool, and it will definitely make enemies come to you.

Using smoke grenades are extremely helpful, however, make sure that you know the purpose of doing so. If you’re using them to block enemy sight, throw them as far as possible, preferably right in front of their gun barrels. If you need them to cover medics, try using low hand toss and drop smoke grenades by dead bodies.

When using hand grenades, always inform your teammates in local voice, better inform throwing direction together. Because it will make people prepared for explosions, so they won’t rush into your grenade. Also, if you do f*ck up, it’s always good to warn your mates seconds before inevitable team kill.

“Grenade out North!”
“Bad nade Bad nade Bad nade”

Other Common Senses in Battle
When entering a hot zone with friendly units inside, it’s always good to announce your presence. People in fight have tendencies to shoot everything which moves in rapidly. If you’re about to rush down stairs from the roof, better keep friendlies below you notified, or it’s usually the main reason of team killing.

“Friendly truck coming in!”
“Friendlies coming down stairs!”
“Friendlies entering tunnel!”

Sometimes you may find a window or murder hole which people can fire weapon from behind. If it’s already occupied by a teammate, do not share the same window without informing him or her. It’s rude and dangerous to block others’ gun sight. The same idea also applies to firing locations, don’t put your a*s in front of friendly MG.

If you got killed, don't give up that easily, since everyone can revive downed teammates in V12!

Have fun and enjoy the high quality gameplay of Squad!
