Introduction
Editing the save file is a good way to get around not yet balanced game mechanics and restrictions. Or maybe you simply want to test something out without spending hours getting to where you want to be in the game to test it. Or you may have a broken savegame and need to fix it to load the save, rather than starting over.

The save file is simply a list of integers and strings in a text file. It is located in a folder named after your world name. You can find the save folder in your This PC\Documents\Kingdoms folder.

Open the save file using a text editor such as Notepad++

Next, I'll explain how to edit what Perks your character has, and how to change some stats
Edit Perks
This section assumes you have opened your save file in an editor such as Notepad++. If you haven't done so, see Introduction section for more info on opening the save file.

What Perks your character knows are saved as a list of boolean values (True / False).

The list of boolean values will end with "ITEMS PARAMETERS IN INVENTORY". It will look something like the first image on the right ==>

The far image on the right lists the Perk each of the boolean values refers to.

To give your character the perk, simply set the boolean value to True

Save the file, then reload your game.
Edit Character Stats
This section assumes you have opened your save file in an editor such as Notepad++. If you haven't done so, see the Introduction section for more info on opening the save file.

To find the character stats section, you will need to search the save file for "ITEMS PARAMETERS IN INVENTORY" then scroll down about 150 lines until you see something similar to the image on the right.

OR. if you know the current gold or EXP your character has, search for that number repeatedly until you see a similar list to the image on the right.

You can change any of these values to change the value in game.

I recomend only altering the values for:

Gold
Current EXP

The other values will be set by game mechanics, and any changes you make may not have the desired effect in game. But you can try. :)

Setting the Current EXP value higher than the EXP required for next level will result in your character leveling up when you load the game. Your character will level up multiple times until the Current EXP value is higher than the prev levels Required EXP.

Inventory space in the save has changed over the last few updates. There are some new lines with number data in the last lines of the Inventory area of the save (before the data starts for the character data). I do not know what those new lines represent at this point, I haven't looked into it yet. My guess is they Identify the the armor type you are wearing and the two items you have in your two hands (if you are carrying something). The lines just before those new lines are the lines that identify the spaces for the armor your character is currently wearing in your personal inventory. Can be a 0 in each spot (naked and not carrying anything) and up to 6 lines (full set of Plate or Knight armor) and 2 items you have in your right and left hand. The space in the characters personal inventory for armor and weapon/tools are all single item stacks slots. You can edit these lines in the save and then transfer to another open slot in the characters personal inventory once in the game.

I have successfully transferred several character play through's that were broken (stuck in a never ending loading screen) that were on previous updates prior to .455 and made the character useful/playable again in current updated game on .455 update version. I pulled a character named Valdorn Poldark from my PlanetEarth06A Island of 3,000 population limit and transferred him to my new PlanetEarth10A Island with a 4,000 population limit replacing the Ross Poldark character I originally started PlanetEarth10A Island with and was able to maintain the settlements that were originally on the PlanetEarth10A Island.

Today I was able to copy the top section of the save from my PlanetEarth06A (several updates back that became broke with the .455 update on Friday 19 June 2020) to a new started game after .455 update to my game PlanetEarth09A. The data included all the game info on my character Ross Poldark and it worked. The map changed from the populated island of my game PlanetEarth09A to the older unpopulated play of the PlanetEarth06A with the fully loaded inventory and maxed stats, load of money, high level fame title Famous King. I made a broken save from older update and made it work on the newest version by copying the info of the older save (which was broken and wouldn't load after .455 update and much more data lines) on to the new game I started after the .455 update (less data lines and almost empty inventory, level 1 character, 40 points of perks, and unknown farmer). PlanetEarth06A still not playable, but all my character data still alive with .455 in PlanetEarth09A.

I have put 2,000,000,000 in my cash and put 2,000,000,000 in exp and bad things started happening. There isn't a hard cap on cash or exp, so eventually it will get you a negative number for cash and a negative number for exp also. The exp when it hits a negative total, the game tries to attain a positive and your level will continue to rise like a counter. I don't know when it will stop. I let it continue while I was playing and when I logged in that game, the level of my player was in the 10,000+ count and still counting/going up. I changed the money amount to 1,999,900,000 (I drop 100,000,000 in 5-6 of my houses, and in each of my trade/shops, and 100,000,000 in my Town Hall storage) and the Exp to 1,500,000,000, I believe is 73. I don't remember what the top level is, but I think it is 75. I am doing this to check out the max on stuff and to see what I can manipulate and still play. Changing stuff/edit stuff can break the save(s), if you do not know what you are doing.

I was able to fix the problems with last couple games and get them working again. When I made some edits in the inventory space I added lines by mistake and it broke the game(s). The save and auto save for the same game had different amount of lines i n the inventory space. It was late and I had been playing most of the day. I have been able to edit the Inventory space increasing the amounts of stuff in my inventory after collecting or crafting at least one item and then increase the amount. Just remember, in your inventory you can hold large amounts of stacked items. In the storage of houses, trading establishments, crafting storage, they only can hold 100,000 count of each space. For instance if I had 105,368 berries and moved them to a storage space, 100,000 berries will fill one space and the remaining 5,368 berries will go into another space. I do not know if the storage space and inventory have a cap or not.

The last couple games I did some stuff on purpose to try and create some bugs other were experiencing. After doing that for awhile I made some editing changes and both games (save and auto save) broke unable to load.
