Pirating
This first method is something called pirating, and it is exactly what it sounds like.

Basically you steal loot from passing freighters and then you sell em. This can net you millions in about 10 or so minutes.

How to do it: Have a starship that is battle ready, Have plenty of inventory space for your loot. and try to pick a freighter that is close to your space station or trading station. Once you are ready, just boost in and shoot the cargo containers. (and guns if nessessary)

Pros: Quick to make money, can be fun, And can eliminate the need to farm resources if lucky.

Cons: Fighting equipment can be expensive, Destroys reputation with species, And is dangerous.
Farming
Farming is exactly what it sounds like. (again)

Farming is where you have a ton of plants and resources that you produce passively. And then craft stuff with said resources. This can have the possibility to net you 50 million a hour if you take the time to make it. (mine only made 15 mil a hour :( )

How to do it: Set up a base on a planet of your choosing, Depending on what you make you can use certain planets to make life easier. Then place desired plants and other things in the base area. and place things that might make you more money.

Pros: Can make tons of money on a "passive income"

Cons: Resource requirement is ridiculous. Takes tons of time to set up. And you have to do tedious base missions to get the things to begin with.
Trading
Arguably the most profitable. Trading items is what brought me my s class freighter of my dreams. More on that later...

Trading is buying a ton of one item for low price and then selling it to a system for high price. This can rake in tons of money over the course of a few hours. I would say it can rake in about 90 mil a hour

Preparation: Have a starship with a ton of inventory space, An A class hauler will do the job, but i got mine done with a class B. You are gonna want to have hyperdrive upgrades and a few pulse engine upgrades to minimize wasted resources, And at least 10 million units. Dont forget your economy scanner! It also helps to have the warp drives.

How its done: All you have to do is mark what color you have using your economy scanner filter. Your color can be Orange, Yellow, Light blue and Red. Remember that order of colors, Because it will be useful later!

When you are looking for your next system. Here are some pointers in the right direction.

A high sell percentage.
If possible. A low buy percentage.
A wealthy economy.
Your next color.

So once you do get to your next system, Look for a trading post using your economy scanner. And sell your stuff when you land. Then buy their next item. Look for the next item color, and repeat!

Pros: Very profitable, And you get to explore lots of systems if that is your cup of tea.

Cons: Depending on how you get your hauler, it can be very expensive, or semi-cheap. Hyperdrive upgrades and pulse engine upgrades are expensive nanite wise. Warp cell requirement can be expensive.

Artifacts.
This is a relatively new way to make money. So just bear with me, I also cant really determine what you might get either.

How to do it: Have a terrain manipulator with some magnetized ferrite. Once you get that. just find your way to a observatory, Solve the puzzle and head to the ruin that it located.

Now once you get to said ruin. Go to the marker and ask for knowlege of the past (or something like that). And then the ruin will go locate a ancient ruin. and then you use your scanner and dig up the artifact once you get there.

Pros: Can sometimes earn millions, Making a fast buck.

Cons: Price range is entirely random, you could get a artifact that is worth only 80k.
Shoutout!
Shoutout to my boi Total1Biscuit for helping me find a freighter that i love and use almost every day.

I think one of the easiest, if not exciting, ways to make money right at the very start is to find a cave and harvest cobalt and ionised cobalt. Once you get a medium refiner, you can buy cheap oxygen and mix it with cobalt and/or ionised cobalt to make more ionised cobalt and sell it for a profit.

Cobalt (not ionised) is also one of the only resources that is sold in every system, and you can crash the price in one system, buy back the cobalt at the crashed price, then repeat in another system. You'll need to sell 8 stacks in one transaction to crash the price on Normal difficulty, but you can start with less.

As you visit each new station, buy another slot for your exosuit to fit even more cobalt. If you don't want to make warp fuel and use the galaxy map to find new systems, go to the space anomaly teleporter, visit another player's base and fly to the station in that system. Most player bases are in systems with a space station. If not, return to the anomaly and try again.

As a guide it would be useful to know what you mean by "All you have to do is mark what color you have using your economy scanner filter" and "Your next color." The filter colors do not seam to make any sense to me.

I'd love to understand how to make money "trading" I have bought oxygen and crafted cobalt to get a few stacks then jump around crashing the economy on the next twenty systems to make bank, then create an activated indium mine.

Lately I just make a few instant millions by visiting someones activated indium mine using the star base teleport and borrowing a few stacks to get started, then buy and scrap A and S ships for mass profit and lots of nanites.

how about harversting the Alien eggs

combined with nexus mission it will be cheap and if you got the system with good price buying that eggs, it will be last

You can trade artifacts at a trading post to get a better one if you get stuck with a bad one

if I remember correctly you can go to an exploration frigate and it will give you coords for a artifact digsite.

Yeah, once you unlock the different colored warp drives the activated rare minerals in the non-yellow solar systems net you millions and you can basically buy anything you need with the money. Those solar systems don't usually have space stations, are usually the worst weather, though I do have a really nice activated indium with great weather.

You need a ton of power so it can take time up to an hour or two to scan a planet with a magnetic power source in range of the activated deposit esp. if you haven't got a vehicle unlocked you can just deploy. Then hook up a few miners and a ton of storage and wake up to millions the next time you login.

gosh i havent been here in years.. anyway

Asteroid mining isnt too profitable in the long run. but it could be used to make a quick few thousand units in a pinch. I should also add that using those giant mining drills you put on underground resource deposits can net you millions. if you can find one with activated indium anyway.
