"I decided to imagine what the original human characters planned for Gang Beasts would have looked like in 3D, so I used a screenshot from the footage of the early Gang Beast body and the artwork from a human Gang Beasts character (based around that early scrapped Gang Beast design, which is the early bodyu I just referenced) and painted the latter over the prototype Gang Beast body to try and replicate what the artwork might have looked like once fully modelled.

For reference the characters were originally supposed to look exactly like that, as you can see a prototype version of them in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NERBB9xIFg
The video showcases the early characters walking, turning, cheering (with it appears was possible to do with each arm separately) and jumping, no attacks were shown. All of the actions looked to be executed in a much clumsier way, expecially jumping which was much shorter and it was apparently more based on the Gang Beast's current angle during the jump.
However it appears that the design was scrapped relatively early on in favour of the current one, probably because the clumsy nature of the characters impeded particularly creative mechanics and stage designs.

While I do enjoy the look of the human characters in the old model A LOT more than the current characters, I'd rather have the newer Gang BEasts that play much better and more smoothly for more action-packed and frenetic battles rahter than have fancy-looking characters that play very poorly.

More artworks of early human Gang Beasts using the old model can be seen in those two pictures:
