Lets get started!
This guide is for players new and old and for people who just began to play Maplestory 2 or are already level 50+. I just want to give those people some tricks and tips "what" you can do in Maplestory 2 NEXT to the obvious stuff, which means (of course) dungeons, PvP, sidequests and playing the storyline, duh.

Some of the stuff can be usefull, some other stuff... maybe not "that much". Still, the opinions are there.

Another thing:
Im sorry if my english is bad sometimes so please bear with me or help me with some errors. Im from germany and i "just try my best" with english. Thanks in advance :D

---REVAMPED---
I stopped playing MS2 for a wile and now try to come back to it. i saw already a l-o-t has changed (like they got rid of the dailys) so that i had to change some stuff "here and there" in the guide. Still,
the guide helps very well with stuff and getting some exp next to doing just dungeons n like.

Also, Maplestory 2 rised the level cap so i had to change some stuff in the guide self like "what is worth doing when" - Levelwise.
...but do i need to pay -real money- for it?

-----=====:::::NO:::::=====-----

Maplestory 2 is a f2p game but no p2w game (at least not now).

My guide is also based on what you can do without spending real money best so normaly you should not put one cent into the game wile playing it or doing one of the activitys here.

The only 2 things i "could" say you can (NOT HAVE TO) put some money into the game are the fishing and music skills since the game gives you the opinion to buy items for it, doing those "automaticly" which makes it easier(but sure not "faster") or perfect for "going AFK" wile your character can do one of those.

BUT

In the later levels and sometimes "now and then", the game gives you such automatic-items for free. So if you want to "push" it, sure, go buy them but again: you dont HAVE to.

It also gives a "premium membership" which costs ingame 490 merets (which is about 5 bucks) for 30 days but nearly all the "rewards" for "being" such member are pretty much not usefull in the activitys i count up which, again, is optional and not a must have/buy.

Lets have a quick look at the "Premium Club" Membership and what you get from it...
So if you pay the membership - for 7 or 30 days - you get following in the time the membership is active:

Unlimited Rotors Walkie-Talkies
+20% Monster Hunting EXP
+20% Mesos from monsters
-50% 1:1 Meso Trade Fee
-50% Revival Fee
-20% Black Market Item Trading Fee
-10% Ophelia Enchant Material
Access to the Remote Bank
Premium Club Dungeon and Premium Club Insignia
Party Buff Bonus
All party members get move speed +5% (excluding PvP)
All party members riding a ground mount get move speed +5%
Daily Bonus Items
Special White Potion x30

The only things "worth" in this premium membership is the unlimited use of the rotor walkie-talkies
and the 20% Meso bonus from monsters (if youre "REALLY" in need of money...) - pretty much anything else is next to useless in higher levels.
Sure, if you enjoy trading, maybe the Black Market item trading fee can be useful but anything else is, for the higher levels, really a joke. So if you really need this membership is up to you.

So at the end, no, you dont have to pay one cent to enjoy said activitys or getting the rewards at all, dont worry about that.

Paying something in this game and FOR this game is -all- optional, NOT a "must buy", which clearly means NO PAY TO WIN.
1. Mining & Foraging/collecting herbs

One thing you can do from pretty much early on which can be useful later is beginning to mine for orbs and foraging/collecting herbs.

Its easy to do and the more you do, the easier you get EXP and crafting materials. Do you need anything special to start? No! :D You can begin from the very first moment you see you can collect said stuff which makes it a very easy way to get some EXPs early on and later for the prestige levels.

Of course, you have to do it more frequency to collect better herbs and orbs but again, you can start and you dont need any tool or like, which makes it very easy from the first place to begin :3

how and where do you start?
(What - What you get - Where(region) - When)

Mining:
  • Copper Vein - Copper Ore - Evansville - Available at Rank 1

  • Tin Vein - Tin Ore Mined/Mined Opal - Queenstown - Available at Rank 2

  • Zinc Vein - Zinc Ore - Middleton - Available at Rank 3

  • Silver Vein - Silver Ore/Mined Sapphire - Silverstone Bridge- Available at Rank 4

  • Iron Vein - Iron Ore - Resortville - Available at Rank 5

  • Lead Vein - Lead Ore/Mined Diamond - New Goldus - Available at Rank 6

  • Nickel Vein - Nickel Ore - Oasis Town - Available at Rank 7

  • Ravensteel Vein - Ravensteel Ore/Mined Amethyst - Crystal Vale - Available at Rank 8

  • Tungsten Vein - Tungsten Ore - Aner Park - Available at Rank 9

  • Gold Vein - Gold Ore/Mined Amber - Blooming Farm - Available at Rank 10

  • Platinum Vein - Platinum Ore - Ellin Town - Available at Rank 11

  • Cobalt Vein - Cobalt Ore/Mined Pearl - Orne Town - Available at Rank 12

  • Palladium Vein - Palladium Ore - Eileen Town - Available at Rank 13

Foraging/Herbs:
  • Marjoram Herb - Marjoram - Evansville - Available at Rank 1

  • Lavender Herb - Lavender/Purple Bloom Dust - Queenstown - Available at Rank 2

  • Rosemary Herb - Rosemary - Middleton - Available at Rank 3

  • Lemon Balm Herb - Lemon Balm/White Bloom Dust - Silverstone Bridge - Available at Rank 4

  • Mandarin Herb - Mandarin - Resortville - Available at Rank 5

  • Jasmine Herb - Jasmine/Plum Bloom Dust - New Goldus - Available at Rank 6

  • Tea Tree Herb - Tea Tree - Oasis Town - Available at Rank 7

  • Cherry Sage Herb - Cherry Sage/ Red Bloom Dust - Crystal Vale - Available at Rank 8

  • Patchouli Herb - Patchouli - Aner Park - Available at Rank 9

  • Oregano Herb - Oregano/Blue Bloom Dust - Blooming Farm - Available at Rank 10

  • Yarrow Herb - Yarrow - Ellin Town - Available at Rank 11

  • Basil Herb - Basil/Green Bloom Dust - Orne Town - Available at Rank 12

  • Bergamot Herb - Bergamot - Eileen Town - Available at Rank 13

Also important: As soon as you reach some skill levels into those skills, you "unlock" 2 areas for it where you can easy farm said herbs/obs so the "roaming" around part pretty much falls back to zero! :D

For what is it/(both) good?
- getting some EXPs easy, early on.
- collecting crafting materials for Smithing & Alchemy skills
- Life Skill trophies

Difficulty: Basicly easy to do.
Time: At the beginning maybe some minutes, depending if you collect all stuff, later it can take a wile.
Costs: Nothing. you can do it from the beginning with no item needed
Best levels: 1-25, its some easy exp to get but mostly useful in the earlier levels, in the later, maybe just usefull to level the skills for.
2. Ranching & Farming

Unlike Mining & Foraging/collecting Herbs, Ranching & Farming is, from the kind, basicly the same but needs you to build the stuff you need for it in your own house/ Building ground. So unlike Mining & Foraging/collecting Herbs you have to build it first in your house and create something like a "own farm place".

This "can" be easy done and it actually doesnt need a lot time ones you really did it, all you have to do is set up your building ground on the biggest settings best (also its free anyways to do so) and begin with a field-like area for both of said stuff (look the screenshots as sample how i did it). :3

Also, since you dont need to roam around the world, i dont think i need to add here a list when and how you can farm those stuff for coz you can place them all at your home and dont find those stuff somewhere else in the mapleworld (next to other players buldings of course, duh...).

For what is it(/both) good?
- getting some EXPs early on.
- collecting crafting materials for Handcraft & Cooking skills
- Life Skill trophies

Difficulty: Pretty easy, just place the stuff you need for at your home.
Time: same here, at the beginning just some minutes, depending if you collect all, later it can take a wile.
Costs: You have to build it on your own building ground before you can start with it
Best levels: 1-25 , like before, usefull in the earlier levels for exp, in the later just usefull for the skills.
3. Fishing

Fishing is somewhat more relaxing and mostly used as "afk"-activity. Its not really used to "farm" stuff but more for trophies and explorer stars (at least SO far). Sure you get some
good EXPs of it and if you use the right lures/baits you can also get some Money out of it.

Still, its right now "nearly" to useless but a thing you can do if you have either nothing better to do, just wanna chill from the game (which really sometimes help :3) or let your character just do it in "afk mode" (aka using a automatic casting tool for it).

To "fish right", you always should fish in the same region as your fishing skill. If youre, as sample, "newbee II" you should look for a area which is your rank so you get better, cast for new fishes and level up your rank. You can check your actual rang if you click on the fish-sign in the left-upper corner of the screen. :D

For what is it(/both) good?
- getting some EXPs
- can be used for "AFK" moments
- you can get random rewards out of it, like some money or items
- getting explorer Stars
- Life Skill trophies

Difficulty: Easy, just find a good spot to fish.
Time: A l-o-t.
Costs: The first fishing rod is free, later ones you have to buy - same with lures/baits too if you wanna collect/cast for the right fishes
Best levels: 1-35 , here i say its really usefull (EXP wise) from the level 1-35, depending again about the skilllevel. Later on just good for the skilllevel and, if you want, for some items.
4. Creating Music

Yes, Music is really a thing in Maplestory 2 since you can create your own. Sadly, right now its, next to fishing, not really a big thing to do next to getting EXPs out of it and some explorer stars.

Music is also used by a lot people just for being AFK but creating music can also be really funny if you know how. For that, you might should check out online guides coz if i would start to explain that i think i have to create another guide for that, really. As sample, go and check this guide for it, it will help you with the basics for sure!

http://forums.maplestory2.nexon.net/discussion/32873/the-best-comprehensive-guide-for-music-making

Again, unlike fishing, creating music acutally can cost a lot at the beginning and you also need to create your own music or buy some ingame-music samples. You also need to skill it up for better rewards which are in this case (unlike fishing again) ONLY EXPs and trophies and no money. So for leveling up at the beginning or the more middle-like levels (20~45), creating music can help with it best.

For what is it(/both) good?
- getting some good EXPs out of it
- can be used for "AFK" moments
- getting explorer stars
- Life Skill trophies

Difficulty: Using sample-music which you can get ingame is easy, creating your own music is another story...
Time: depending how long the "songs" are and if you go to use it for AFK- Moments.
Costs: Important here is, you D-O-N-T earn any money with it. It can you cost a lot so, be warned here.
Best levels: 1~40, After level 40, you will get way to less exps for it. Else just for the skilllevel.
5. Minigames & Kays Games

Minigames & Kays Games are kinda a fun way to enjoy your freetime in Maplestory 2. Both actually are rewarding (somewhat) and dont take to much time.

Wile Minigames can be just done by clicking in the menu and searching for them, Kays Games can be only played if they pop up on the right side of your screen or you buy a portal to it ingame.

Again, the rewards are sure depending if youre good at them, finish them, "enjoy" them and sure which of them youre playing.

For what is it(/both) good?
- getting some EXPs out of it
- Kays games (if youre the winner) rewards you with the kay coin for special rewards
- getting some money out of it
- Freetime activitys which are actually pretty fun!
- Life Skill trophies

Difficulty: "Easy".
Time: Most games are short, overall maybe 3-10 minutes.
Costs: If you dont "pay" such portals, there is NO costs at all (next to the time of course).
Best levels: I say here no level rating since they are just "for the fun" and less for the exps you will get - so for "leveling", those games are pretty much next to useless - But fun to do!
6. Map exploring

Maplestorys 2 World map is HUGE and a good thing to explore for a lot good stuff. First it rewards you with APs which are very usefull later on for your character and it also gives you a clue where you can find other things (like ores and herbs as one sample~).

Exploring the map and doing the missions for it can take a lot time and since the world is really huge, it sure depends where you begin and how you do it or create a own system for it. Its still a fun thing to do if you enjoy to roam around and looking for all corners of the mapleworld, alone the APs you get is it worth doing, really. It gives you also a good boost of EXPs and sure some good money, again, depending where you do it.

For what is it(/both) good?
- Getting a lot EXPs out of it!
- They give you some very good rewards, like a full explorer outfit and APs
- getting some good money out of it
- Can be done as side activity
- Life Skill trophies

Difficulty: If you "just explore the map" its easy. If you go for the explorer-stars and sidemissions, "medium".
Time: A L-O-T.
Costs: Nearly to nothing, next to the time of course.
Best levels: 1-40, Exp-wise at least but you should explore the whole map with at least one character best so you know where all the stuff is (like worldboss spawns).
7a. Worldbosses & Elitemonsters

Sure slaying bigger enemys like Worldbosses and Elitemonsters are worth doing. They give some good EXPs, Money and sure some good rewards - of course depending WHICH monsters you slay.

Still, this should not be a thing you actually begin to do if youre new to this game. Mostly Worldbosses need more than 1 player to be killed for sure but they are worth doing just for the money you get. Elitemonsters are sure not worth as much as Bossmonsters but for the most of them, they can be done solo and are also worth at least something. :3

After all, you really should be already leveld somewhat and be experienced with the game a bit before you run brainless into them. ^^

For what is it(/both) good?
- getting a L-O-T EXPs out of it
- Pretty good rewards, depending of course "which" monster you slay
- getting some money out of it
- Worldboss/Elitemonster trophies

Difficulty: "Difficult", at least if you have not much people with you - dont even try it alone.
Time: 3-10 minutes, depending how many people
Costs: "Good gear". im srs here, dont try to run into them brainless. those are called worldbosses for a reason, mate.
Best levels: 15+ , Look at part -7b- for more infos about it!
7b. Worldbosses & Elitemonsters - LEVEL 50+!

LEVEL 50+ SELECTION
If you reached level 50, basicly everything else in the guide begins to getting useless if you wanna go just for exp aka wanna level up yourself.
In that case, Worldbosses are pretty much the "only good opinion" to level yourself GOOD and EASY up. You really get a lot exps even after you reached level 50.

So if you wanna get a lot exps after you reached level 50, go for the worldbosses.

How to do this best? Look for a group, there is often a "Worldboss train" around. Using those helps you (and others) a lot getting a lot exps in said later levels.

Trust me here, after level 50, level ups & exps can get hard. Doing Worldbosses is pretty much the only good opinion left.
8. Smithing, Handcrafts, Alchemy & Cooking

I put this 4 together as one since they are pretty much all the same since before you are even able to "begin" with one of those you have to do one of the other 4 things before which is Mining, Ranching, Foraging/collecing Herbs and/or Farming.

Those are still some very helpful things to do since you can create some helpful items with it for your adventures or making some things even easier.

Sadly, it sure will costs you the materials for it and sure a bit of money but you grain some good EXPs for doing it - specialy its easy to get EXPs for the later prestige levels.

For what is it(/both) good?
- getting good EXPs out of it (even later for prestige Levels)
- Able to craft many usuable things like gear, drinks and supporter items
- Life skill trophies

Difficulty: Easy to do if you do also the other said stuff (Mining, Ranching, Foraging/collecing Herbs & Farming).
Time: At the beginning again, fast & easy to do but later...Uff...this can really take a wile...and if you add the time you already did the other stuff for it....yea...it really can take "LONG"...
Costs: you need to skill Mining, Ranching, Foraging/collecing Herbs & Farming for really doing those, also costs you some money to craft items and sure the materials for it
Best levels:1+ , pretty much like mining, ranching, foraging/collecting herbs and farming.
9. Skyfortress

The Skyfortress feels like its a "replace" to the old "daily system" they had in Maplestory 2 back in the day. You basicly do "missions" for groups on the Skyfortress. Those can be easy to do, like just do another mission for them or collecting some items, or even harder by looking for rare mats or even killing a worldboss.

Since youre able with level 50 to go on board (after you did some missions~), you should consider to do some mission for the groups there from time to time - next to this you get some honor in the group you do the missions for and can get some nice stuff for your home (and like).

For what is it(/both) good?
- Getting honor for the groups
- Getting some Exps
- trophies...?

Difficulty: This depends which mission you do.
Time: This depends which mission you do.
Costs: Again here, this is all depends which mission you do for them.
Best levels: 50+ , After level 60, it feels a bit "lush" exp-wise Else just do it for the honor of the groups.
10. Hunting the Hat of Misdirection

This is more suppost to be something which "happens" then by actually "doing it". In Maplestory 2, it can be happen that a magic hat (or the Hat of Misdirection) appiers on the map (look the pictures). If you see one, those have also a small "light blueish" timer under them and you normaly cant miss them since the light blue text alone makes them pretty "visible" even from afar.

Also again if you see one, grap them, QUICKLY. They dont have a long timer (around 27 seconds?) and they are like some bonus areas, just for you if you get the hat in time.

The problem about this, again, they spawn very rare for the most of the time and it can be nearly everywhere on the whole region youre on right now BUT since i did it a bit longer (mostly coz i had nothing better to do lols) i found actually a pretty small area where you can "farm" (carefully said...) them best. Since i play the game in german, maybe the map helps you for the better:

The area is pretty small and you can easily fly over the area with the festive balloons. Also said here, i wouldnt call it a activity but if you want to enjoy such hat-bonus game you might should look around this place best. For the spawn time, i actually "cant" tell how long a hat "can" take to spawn but in my hunting time i did it, mostly around every 8-15 minutes (-/+) if it wasnt a special day (like on the pictures, then its mostly around 4-10 minutes).

For what is it(/both) good?
- Depending which bonus game you will play in the hat, it can give you some really good money, EXP or even items
- its luck based and more a challange if you really wanna do this
- trophies...?

Difficulty: Easy. The hat is more a bonus.
Time: Some minutes but not more than 3 maybe.
Costs: nothing, next to the time of course :P
Best levels: 1+ , its always nice to go for the hat if you see one - mostly just for the bonus or the DOSH.
11. Building your house

This is more a thing you might should do next to building your farm on it.

Building your house can give you some great advantages, like building a farm or getting trophies and even getting buffs. Wile you play the main game (smashing monsters, doing dungeons, etc), you might unlock souvenir which you can place at your home. touching those can give you some good passive buffs which actually help you in fights against monsters and like.

Next to this, building your house can also be used to create something like a portal room where you can place portals in your house which teleport you in different regions of the mapleworld.

So from time to time, you miiiiiiiiiiight should give it a try and invest some time to build something on "your place". Really, it can only help you later.

For what is it(/both) good?
- getting some EXPs out of it
- place portals to create a teleport room, using it to go around the world for (nearly) free
- place souvenir, get great passive buffs
- daily rewards
- trophies...?

Difficulty: Easy to "do" but i dont tell you how you build your own house...
Time: If you enjoy building stuff, well, it can take a wile for sure...
Costs: Normaly nothing (depending WHAT you build) but sure a lot time.
Best levels: If you go for "just the exps" maybe 1-25 but after that, its notable not really worth "doing", not for exps at least.
OLD STUFF: Old Dailys (OUT TO DATE!)
IMPORTANT:
I kept this stuff in the guide just in case people wanna see what stuff is now "not anymore" in the game, has changed, got replaced or is not useful anymore - basicly, you can ignor it.

Dailys are something special and you really should do them if you have the opinion to and youre able to. Sadly, you can do such dailys only if youre already level 50+ which sure means this is more "endgame" and not for the "beginners".

Still, a lot people forget (really i met a lot who did...) those are a thing. They are sure worth doing since those are mostly small side-quests you do "on the way" anyways. Also reward-wise, they are sure worth it!

For what is it(/both) good?
- getting really very good rewards out of it like money, EXPs and items
- Kinda easy sidequests which you can do "on the way"

Difficulty: Most of them are pretty easy but again, depends which you do
Time: again, depends which you do
Costs: Mostly nothing, just time of course Oh and of course, only able to do them IF youre Level 50+ ;P - also if you explored the map that sure would help you a LOT too...and good gear but at this point im sure you have some...
Best levels: 50+
A word at the end

I hope you could help you that you actually found something now "to do" in Maplestory 2 next to the already obvious said things. Sure, the game is a RPG but offers a lot stuff next to "just smashing stuff".

If you have tips to share (or wanna help me with some errors), leave a comment and a feedback! Im just glad i could help you with some stuff!

IF THEY ARE STILL QUESTIONS ABOUT SAID ACTIVITYS you can contact me ingame, the name is "LeonKnuffy" (archer) or "MsLemming" (Gunner), just in case.

So enjoy the activitys! :D

pretty much updated the guide. add a "which level best" selection, added the skyfortess & a bit more over the worldbosses for level 50+ and some more about the premium membership.

hope that helps!

thanks! i will add that somehow X3

Just here to contribute a bit to the guide, the bonus area hat is officially called the Hat of Misdirection. The game says its name in one of the bonus area trophies.

yea, thats why i said music is a thread of its own there. pets...maybe i can add that someday but tbh. i dont think it really fits in here but...i will see...

Oh right, right, I forgot, you can even make your own stuff, let alone editing using a certain program
W.A. the Anum  [author] 19 Oct, 2018 @ 4:48pm
there is a link to a music guide from the nexon forum, look it up, it explains how music works and yea - ITS LONG. So yes, music is a threadof its own to be "GOOD" in it (just think about the people who have literally NO idea how the music works in maplestory 2...i guess thats self explaining then why i talk like that).
טרוריסט מקצועי 19 Oct, 2018 @ 4:45pm
Yeah pretty much, the game was just released 10 days ago for everyone for free, and that's just the start of the content you and me and the others are pumping out in guides, i'd expect someone to come up with a guide related to it, a full guide for pets, but are you sure music needs a guide of it's own? It's a pretty short and neat-explained system
W.A. the Anum  [author] 19 Oct, 2018 @ 4:43pm
same, also not music coz Music and pets are two threads which kinda needs a guide of their own, each.
טרוריסט מקצועי 19 Oct, 2018 @ 4:42pm
If you take the two guides, that's just probably most of what the game is about... except for pets, i didn't include it , :thonk:
W.A. the Anum  [author] 19 Oct, 2018 @ 4:40pm
thanks. i just tried. i mean someone who kidna has (right) now 81% of the map explored with over 550 stars and 650+ trophies, i just try my best here to show people there is SO MUCH more next to just smashin enemys (as i said in the last words XD).
