Double or Nothing
Double or Nothing, the machine in which you can bet 1,3,or 5 credits for a 50% chance to double your money, or lose it all.

That's right. The game you thought was the easiest way to throw all your money away turns out to be the game with the highest pay outs. But, the way that you play DOES matter. I ran multiple 15 minute tests at a bet level of 5 credits where I only cashed out at the value specified, and here are the results I got listed in Units per Minute:

It seems as though cashing out on Double x7 is the most profitable at ~2600 Units per Minute.

However, this doesn't necessarily mean that Double x8+ ISN'T profitable. In fact, it could very well be more profitable than x7, but because of the far lower chance of reaching those numbers, they will appear a lot less frequently and luck could really bring you down.

In fact, the actual statistics show that the opposite is true, that Double x1 would make you the most possible money, but at a much slower rate. But the fact that pressing the button again doesn't cost any additional credits for a chance to double it again, makes these higher numbers far more viable and profitable.

So is Double or Nothing actually the fastest way of making money? It's hard to say for sure, as it's entirely luck based, but with what could be considered "average luck", you can still easily turn a profit and possibly even more. Now if you wanted to compare Double or Nothing to Slot Machines or Video Poker which gives you a chance at a jackpot when you play, you COULD make more money at those machines, but the Units per Minute could ultimately be much lower on those machines if it takes forever to get a jackpot.

TLDR: 7 remains to be the luckiest number in the casino, and by playing Double or Nothing with a bet of 5 credits, and only cashing out whenever you reach Double x7, it could prove to be the fastest possible way of making money in Tower at around 2600 Units per Minute (Aside from casino games that have a chance at a jackpot if luck is on your side)
Additional Information
If you're at all interested in seeing how the exact numbers of my Double or Nothing tests came to be, you can see them here:

And to compare them to Video Blackjack (another mindless button pushing game) I have included tests in which I played Video Blackjack for 15 minutes as normal, and for 15 minutes while only spamming "Deal" and "Stand"

My luck's way too crap for this to work. I admit, hitting every x7 that comes my way has, technically, made it so that I'm always profiting, it's incredibly hard for even x5 bets to catch up to a 3,000 credit drop every so often. But it's beyond too slow for it to be worth it over Bowling.

I've tried this and it seems to still hold up. Sometimes I'd get lucky and get a few 7's in a row. Although it was pretty ridiculous luck. I grinded for about 10-15 minutes and went from 22k to 55k

This doesn't work for me, and this is probably just me. I have the luck of someone who would survive a tsunami but as soon as I have anything to gain other than basic survival and I am screwed. For example, 5k into the hole on double or nothing and I can't get past x3.

As old as this is, I definitely stand by that I think this method is viable. I earned nearly 200k today alone through the combination of this and the minigames in the plaza.

I think the sudden dropoff of payout is a result of a limited sample size. If you played for longer you would start to see the payouts of the higher values start to catch up.

It's mostly a choice of how much you can afford to play for, and how long you're willing to play for. I personally go for 10, but that's just because I want it for the prestige.
