Raw Materials

This includes any non manufactured material that can be found in the environment.

I have split it up into minerals(i.e. metals) and other items(i.e. biomass, water).

Minerals

Iron(Fe)

Found almost anywhere, iron is probably one of the first three minerals you will find.
Biomes: All?
Crystal: Orange

Carbon(C)

Carbon is right up there with iron, found everywhere, used in everything.
Biomes: All?
Crystal: Black

Silicon(Si)

Just after the first two, silicon is also rather common, and easily found in early game with Fe and C.
Biomes: All?
Crystal: White

Cobalt(Co)

Biomes: Island, Tundra

Silver(Ag)

Biomes: Island, Tundra

Aluminum(Al)

Biomes: Island, Tundra

Gold(Au)

Biomes: Tundra, Desert

Uranium(U)

Used as a power source, Uranium is rather easy to spot, as it tends to glow green. You will probably find some while gathering Titanium and Gold

Ore:

Titanium(Ti)

Titanium is a must for high tier equipment and blocks, and is rather difficult to find.

Xaenite(Xa)

Probably the rarest, Xaenite is used in top tier equipment and Extra Terrestrial power cells.
Biomes: Desert, Arctic Tundra, presumably Antartic Tundra
Crystal: Red

Ore: Magenta and black alien stuff

This consists of everything made by the player, not available in the enviornment.

This is a decent guide. I just dig in the ground, find the oddly colored stone, that's the ore, and place a miner on it. It's normally blue in the forest biome. Put a bio generator, and a cargo container on the miner. It will mine iron, carbon, and silicon.

Go into a desert area, find a stone with the ores in it. IF it has uranium, or one of the more rare ones, like cobalt and silver, dig the surface, and find a place with green ore. Place a miner on top, with a bio generator, and it will get you all the medium rare ones.

Go further, to where there is almost nothing but sand. Temperatures start to rise even with the thermo regulator. Dig the surface, and you'll start to find trace amounts of Xanite. Place a miner there. Same configuration. Check the miner itself. It will tell you what it brings up. Xanite should be a part of it. Leave the area, and return the following day. Should have yourself a decent amount of rare minerals.

Fe can be found in biomes of mild difficulty.
C can be found in mile biomes as well.
Si can be found again mild biomes.
Co can be found rough biomes.
Ag can be found in dangerous biomes.
Ai cane be found in rough biomes.
Au could be found in rough or dangerous biomes I forgot.
U can be found in dangerous biomes.
Ti can be found in dangerous biomes.
Xa cane be found in extreme biomes.
Mild biomes Grasslands
Rough biomes tundra and tropical
dangerous biomes tundra and tropical
extreme biomes Polar and desert
