First of all, what is Nosgoth idling and why do we do it? Nosgoth is an awesome game that was closed due to poor management and greed by Square Enix. As a game with server-based matchmaking and inventory system it cannot be played anymore without the developer's servers (The curse of matchmaking). But a small group of devoted people still run the game's launcher in the background to protest that ♥♥♥♥-decision. To run the game in the background you obviously need it to be installed. You can do it easily on your own if the game is still in your library. If not, you can install it using console. Press win+R and paste this command:
That should start the installation process in steam. When it is fully downloaded just run it and minimize the launcher.

Nosgoth's launcher might trigger a subprocess that will use too much cpu for idling. Check you process list (alt+ctrl+del).



Good news - you dont have to kill it every time you launch Nosgoth. All you need to do to prevent it from running is to find its .exe-file in Nosgoth folder and rename it into TotallyNotA.CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess, for example. (My Nosgoth folder is located in E:\games\steam\steamapps\common\nosgoth, you can try searching for NosgothLauncher)

Also, if you were running Nosgoth before renaming the file, check your Nosgoth folder for browser logs. They have names like "launcher.log04102018". I found 12GB of logs on my pc!

Idling requires you to run the game's launcher only, so if you are running low on HDD free space you might wanna delete most of the game's files. You can safely delete all the folders from Nosgoth folder as shown on the screenshot. (You might need them if we are ever to play this game again)

To run Nosgoth automatically you can simply create a .bat file in your autoruns. To get into autoruns folder press Win+R, paste shell:startup and press enter. In the opened window create a text file and rename it into "Nosgoth.bat". Open it with notepad and paste


Right now I'm trying to make a powershell script to run it minimized, but it still has some problems. Check this guide again later if you are interested in it or feel free to comment if you know how to do it.
