With the direction AC is going I honestly couldn't really care if they try to have an over arching narrative any more. Unless Odyssey does something to completly change my opinion, im kinda done with AC if it keeps going in this direction. I will still play future games, but I have kinda lost all care for the lore and expanded universe at this point. Also it still wouldn't make sense for the modern day to allow you to choose a corpse because both characters are essentially the same person, they have the exact same story. That would cause a massive hole in the modern day lore that would just screw up the entier AC univsers imo.

"you can choose your own protagonist dispite the fact that you are supposed to be reliving someones DNA so it literally makes zero sense"

Maybe the intro has two corpses side by side for the Origins' Animus and you pick one.

The buggy/weird animus plot thread from Origins, might give them enough to work with to open things back up. Or even revisit certain things in a diff way.

Having a concrete timeline across so many eras didn't give much to work with because you know that "blah blah blah by year <x> the assassins are falling apart or in hiding again". Or that nothing is resolved yet even by 2012+.

Some of it might just be the western historical tale of revenge can only play out so many ways. "AC" as a whole has kind of boxed itself in. Unless they actually want to resolve overarching stuff or completely move away from it they're screwed for options.

Well, as someone who has played them all I honestly found origins to (probably) have the worst story of any of the games, although its been a while since I played some of them so maybe my opinions would change, but I felt up until origins the story was always the centre of an AC game. In Origins it felt like the story took a back seat approach and I didn't really like it. I just found it far more forgettible than even trash like AC3.

I never played ME, so admittedly I have no clue about that. I was just commenting more on the "open-worldy rpg" thing.

"My biggest issue with Origins was the awful generic story with characters I didn't feel for." I felt that way with most the series, I played to be honest.

My biggest issue with Origins was the awful generic story with characters I didn't feel for. The lead narative designed on Odyssey said it will have a main story of over 100 hours which really worries me. I don't know if she ment between both protagonists or not, but either way I am worried they are taking the quantity over quality approach.

Effort into the side content in shadow of war? What? Jokes aside, alot of the new "powers" are copied straight from the middle earth games. You can now "leap of fairth" from literally any building or mountain and take no fall damage, like in the ME games, you can now throw your dagger and telleport to its location just like in the ME games, it now has randomly generated enemies with unique skills which you can recruit just like the orcs in SOW. There is a whole tonne of stuff they have coppied straight from the ME games, and now they are trying to add all the mythical monsters and boss fights like witcher / dark souls.

I felt the games were being dragged down by the heavy focus on the somewhat junk present plot with Desmond, Juno, or w/e. And the same-y settings and same-y play was getting old (not saying they should completely revamp but some aspects were getting painfully stale before the Ezio trilogy was even finished).
