Balanced Build for the Endgame Player
By Lapinoire
Play aggressively, play lazily, or just have fun. This build mixes both offense and survivability, allowing the player to choose how they wish to play. "Farm hard to play easy" is the core philosophy behind this build.

Equipment Preview
This build, like all other build guides i've made, is usable on any character. The pieces are all the same(excluding the weapon), and the only part that the player really needs to farm for is the Nightmare Wings from Story: 8-9. Make sure you use fashion to cover up this set-- it looks absolutely disgusting otherwise.

EQUIPMENT PREVIEW:

Tanya:
Mana:
Myu:
I was actually unable to get the Pet, Merry Chrome, for Myu. I'll update it if I ever get it for her.
Loki:
Bart:
Equipment
As always, for this section, we will be viewing Tanya's equipment as an example. The stats for this set(excluding the weapon) are all the same, no matter which character is played.

Weapon:
Like all my other previous builds, the weapon choice is up to the player. Typically the player will want to choose "Active upon using [Skill], Increased Damage Lv.5". This effect triggers the moment the player presses the skill, giving a 30% damage boost for 8 seconds. Pick a skill with low cooldown to make best use of this.

Ornament: El Sarious
Mana Regen per Second Lv.3, Max Health Lv.1
Body: Ruby Metal Armor
Active upon landing Basic Attack: Heal Hp Lv.2, Crit Defense Lv.2
Belt: Goldion Belt, Moon Knight Belt, or Devil Belt
Increased Damage Lv.2/lv.3 The player can use any of the three, depending on if they want more Attack or more Defense.
Pants: Night Xabel Pants
Upon Landing basic attack: Heal HP Lv.3, Resistance to Rupture Lv.1
Back: Nightmare Wings
Mana Regen per Second Lv.2, Health Regen per Second Lv.2
Pet: Merry Chrome
Health Regen per second Lv.3
Carve Sets
For this section, the primary carve set the player will want is 6-set Red Dragon's Breath. Unlike my other builds, this one actually allows you to run a full 6-set Carve set, granting the player access to a second set of Invincibility via Carve Set Skill.

  • 12 Grade S Flame Dragon Particle
  • 6 Grade S Flame Dragon Particle
  • 3 Grade S Flame Dragon Particle

ALTERNATIVELY...
If the player is lacking the necessary materials to carve all six pieces of equipment with Red Dragon's Breath, 6-set The Heart of the Sea Reaper will work as well, as the stats are basically inverted for 3 and 5-set bonus.
The downside to using The Heart of the Sea reaper is that it will end with Maximum Health 4/5, which is +400 HP instead of +600 from Maximum Health 5/5. It's not a bad substitute, but optimally, the player will want to use Red Dragon's Breath. This set is just a placeholder.

The materials for "The Heart of the Sea Reaper" can be purchased in the store:
Gear Options/Extra Equipment Status
Gear Options:
Honestly? Build what you want. This set is super flexible, so flexible that the player can play with all 18 slots of their equipment and still perform well.

If I had to recommend what to build, i'd say 5 Lv.5 Mana Regen per Second, and 13 Increased Damage Lv.4~5.

If you don't want to die, ever, you can even build Damage Reduction Lv.4~5 x 18, or Health Regen per Second Lv.4~5 x9 with Health Regen at point of Strike Lv.4~5 x 9.

The main feature of this build is how much sustain it has, so it's the player's choice on what to build.
Overall Status Gain
    Stat Gain:
  • Active upon landing "Basic Attack", Heals 45 health (5/5)
  • Mana Regen per Second +30 (5/5)
  • Health Regen per Second +45 (5/5)
  • Increased Damage +12.5% (5/5)
  • Max Health +600 (5/5)
Additional stats gained from this set(not the focus):
  • Resistance to Fire +21% (2/5)
  • Crit defense +10% (2/5)
  • Resistance to Rupture +7% (1/5)

The main focus of this build prioritizes Health Increase, and means to restore health. This build also has some damage to boot, meaning the player will be able to deal some damage, while being able to stay alive much easier than others.

The overall regeneration power almost makes the use of "Vampire" Runes meaningless, allowing the player to use whatever runes they want on their skills.
General Functionality/How to use this build
1- Just play normally. Avoid attacks when you can, if you can.
1a- If step 1 cannot be achieved, take the hit: you'll survive, and will be able to heal the damage taken just by using basic attacks. This also benefits you because taking the hit means you'd build ultimate gauge.
2- In the event you get hit, depending on the situation, start using basic attacks. Health Regen and Health Regen per Attack stack, meaning you'll typically recover 90+ HP per hit.
3- Due to Mana Regen per second, you can also use your skills freely, so long as you pause your skill use for a few seconds to let your MP catch up.

This build has been tested on bosses with dangerous Damage over time, namely Beeltrits(Magic Dragon of Incandescence) and Night Xabel(Night of the Dancing Blood). The HP regeneration mostly mitigates the burn and bleed debuffs, so long as the player has the opportunity to attack. Due to the added Health, it is highly likely the player will survive the debuffs even if they were unable to use basic attacks.
Conclusion
Many players like dealing damage, but don't like being glass cannons at the same time. This build was designed with ease of use and flexibility in mind. Many players came to me asking for some form of survivability on a set that didn't involve Movement speed, and so this set came to be.

If you are reading this, and you'd rather build a glass cannon, please refer to my guide here:

Because I also changed the pet at the same time, "Merry Chrome" → "Snow Pong"
Simply put, I want to get the movement speed, and I trade it with basic attack: Heal HP Lv.3, because BART moves so slow, even using the whirlwind skill, can't effectively keep up with the moving enemy.

it's preference, the set already has 5/5 Health Regen per second, so switching the pants out for bunny warrior is a little pointless. You can change it up a bit, but having both Basic attack=heal and Health regen per second will give you more breathing room, so long as you don't get one-shot killed.

If the character is BART, would it be better to have the pants "Night Xabel" → "bunny warrior"?
--------------------------------------------
-Upon Landing basic attack: Heal HP Lv.3
-Resistance to Rupture Lv.1
--------------------------------------------
+Health Regen per Second Lv.3
+Crit Defense Lv.1
--------------------------------------------
Pets use to increase movement speed, is this more suitable for BART?
Thank you, your article helped me a lot

Hi. Started playing DragonSpear-Ex on iOS, and was looking for a build guide and stumbled on this one. It's well written, and it shines a light on what to build with so many alternatives :steamhappy: Thanks for writing it up.

Cool! Thanks a lot for the insight! Been struggling to find much of anything regarding this game, lol.

@SoW Well, back when I used to play the game heavily, I would farm one of the easier endgame bosses, the yellow dragon(can't remember the name), and use its mats to produce several hundreds of its gear. You can also buy gear from the shop, however it takes considerably longer and is more expensive due to lower rolls by nature.

Just settle for Level 4 rolls, grab Level 5 when you can. It's incredibly costly, though, being 125,000 per guaranteed transfer. Don't bother trying to stick two abilities on, because the success rates are more than horrible.

Hello! I'm wondering how you farmed all the LV. 4~5 random enchantments that come on gear to fuse with the base one. Is there an efficient way to go about this or are you just buying the equipment from the store and hoping to get lucky? Thank you!

Is it? Guess i'll edit it out of the guides then. The game along with the discord server are pretty much dead.
