Introduction
Some things you might want to know about fishing at Graveyard Keeper can be found at this guide. So here are some spoilers inside!

I tried my best to keep the guide clear and so I decided to sort this guide after the locations and make sections for them. I`ve done three popular guides for "My Time at Portia" and I hope, this one will be helpful and popular too.

Basics & Tips
First of all: There are five locations (see the sections on the right) where you can fish. You can get three different rods and use eigth different baits. Daytime is important too!

Rods
  • Simple Fishing Rod
(given to you by the fisherman at Lighthouse Keeper for bringing him five moths)

  • Good Fishing Rod
(can be bought from the fisherman)

  • Excellent Fishing Rod
(can be bought from the fisherman)
Baits
  • Butterfly
Can be found at flowers during day

  • Moth
Can be found at flowers during night

  • Maggot
    A compost result

  • Lure with a gem
Can be bought from the fisherman (can not be used with Simple Fishing Rod)

  • Steel Lure
Can be bought from the fisherman

  • Anchovy
    Caught by fishing

  • Gudgeon
    Caught by fishing

  • Fishing without any bait

The natural baits are consumed after a successful fishing try and the two lures have a durability.
How to fish?
It looks like a major problem for some people to realize how the fishing mechanic at Graveyard Keeper works. So I am going to explain it.
  • 1. If you are at an fishing spot and an rod is equipped, you can press E.
  • 2. Now you can choose your bait at the bottom of the screen.
  • 3. You can press and hold E again and choose one of three throwing sections (short, medium, long). If one section shows only 0% and you try to fish there, you`ll lose energy for nothing.
  • 4. Now you have to wait until the float pops up and press E. There is also be a sound played. But you must have a good reaction!
  • 5. A minigame starts and you have to keep the yellow bar at the height of the fish by using E.

If you have trouble with the fourth point, you can eat "Fish Nuggets" (can be bought from Horadric in the Dead Horse) before you try, because it buffs you and gives you some extra reaction time.
Pond/Village
There is a pond in the north of the village and normaly it`s the first fishing spot you find. I`ll list now, how the chance are at day/night, with one of the three fishing rods and what kind of bait work.

Waterfall
The Waterfall is in the north on the west side of the river and can be discovered after you finished the bridge, which makes it possible to visit the swamp too.

Swamp
If you finish the bridge accross the river in the west, you can get access to the fishing spot at the swamp. Normaly you`ll find the one at the waterfall before, but maybe not.

River
Normaly the last spot you explore. The spot itself is in the north and you get access, if you destroy the barricades in the north of the church or the one in the west; north of the swamp. But I dont think finding the locations will make any trouble.

Sea/Ocean
Sea/Ocean can be found in the east, north of the Lighthouse Keeper. Its the only fishing spot you can get the "Goldfish" for the achievement "Gold fish - Got a gold fish. Want to make a wish?".

Höherwertige Fische? Das scheint neu! ^^

Hi Xeeran,
guter Guide!:skull_happy:

Dude, that outline thing is really good. Good eye! I hate that reaction shit with the sound
jimmyzgreek 24 Nov, 2021 @ 7:52pm
theres an outline around the bobber, but it dissapears right before the sound plays, its much more reliable then the sound

Oh, and I'd add mention of fishing boost foods. The fish sticks and soup are SUPER helpful for fishing!

great guide! An easy add would be to list the fish names you can catch at each location, so you don't have to know what the fish pictures mean. A harder add would be to specify odds of catching each quality of fish, such as you can only catch silver salmon at the ocean with the medium rod. Are the odds of catching gold salmon in the ocean with the excellent rod 50%? I don't know this.

In the end though, the goldfish are the real prize fish to hunt for. Perhaps eels for lightning powder... maybe some silver and gold crucians for ore... perhaps some frogs for meat or a certain quest...

If there is some way to replace the very weak bauble sound with something more audible, that would be a major thing to discover and share!

Again, great guide though! very thorough on teaching what the odds are for catching all the fish!

If you focus on the fishing bauble, it has a animation where the water around it moves (ie. ripples). When a fish is "caught", the animation stops/disappears (ie. ripples vanish). Pressing E will instantly bring up the fishing mini-game. This occurs before the sound. It works 100% of the time.

It can also help a lot focus on the hands while fishing rather than the bobber. At least for me that works way better than tryin gto concentrate on the bobber and sound.
