Default Crates contain skins, "cogs" and weapon parts. This is a common crate type in game.
You can get these crates:
>Every 2-3 wins in normal game
>In the freeplay
>In the shooting range
>In daily events
>From the Warehouse (BRAIN / OUT Shop)

Lead Crates is a main source of radioactive material (RM*) and contain all loot from Default Crates.
How to get Lead Crates?
>You can get 1 Lead Crate every day
>You can buy KGB pack from Warehouse to get 6 Lead Crates as bonus
*RM is a one type of currency in BRAIN / OUT. You can buy Default, Gold, Special Crates or resources like skillpoints or "cogs".

Gold Crates contain guaranteed 1 skillpoint. You can get special costumes (like "Jacket" from Hotline Miami) or rare skins (like AWP "Asiimov") from Gold Crates.
You can get Gold crates:
>In a daily events
>By buying any pack from Storage (not a KGB) or buy only gold crates

Special Crates contain a prepared items.

You can buy special crates:
>In Storage
>By RM
>By RU*
RU is a currency from freeplay. You can collect money from freeplay to buy some Special Crates.

Event Crates like a Special Crates contain a prepared items.

You can take that crates:
> By beating event missions
> By using a promocodes.

Every day you can take a part in a daily even by using a choosed weapon. Always for 100 kills from this weapon gives you 1 Default Crate. You can see a "Results: button in Daily Event. This is a ranking with a special rewards:
> 1st Place: 1 Gold Crate
> 2nd Place: 5 Default Crates
> 3rd Place: 3 Default Crates
> 4th Place: 1 Default Crate
> 5th Place: 15 "Cogs"

You can get Crates, Technical and Normal EXP, RU, "Cogs" and Costumes by beating freeplay missions.

You need "Cogs" to upgrade stats of your weapons.To unlock upgrade levels you need to up your technical level.
