This guide is supposed to tell you how to install Carters addon pack, how to use stargates, and how to have fun with the stargates.
In this guide I will cover, installation, how to use a DHD, how to use a Stargate, how to use some E2 chips with them, and hopefully all the Stools and entities they come with.

Description
THE STARGATE CARTER PACK

Stargate Carter Pack more commonly known as Carter’s Addon Pack or CAP is an addon for Garry’s mod that adds new content elements to the game, all based off the Stargate franchise from the 1994 film to the late Stargate Universe. Carter’s Addon Pack gives the most impressive array of Stargate elements for Garry’s Mod, allowing much more diversity & variations for Stargate gameplay in Garry’s Mod.

CAP (Carter’s Addon Pack) covers many themes and aspects from the Stargate franchise, such as Tauri technology, Lantean technology, Asgard technology and many others, Together with their weapons and devices which often became a threat or even powerful assets to the people of Stargate Command, Atlantis and Destiny.

From piloting starships to building bases, the Stargate Carter Pack provides players with great replayability, creativity and much much more!
Installation
The easiest way to install C.A.P is to download it all off the workshop, but you still need to get the Github content located at https://github.com/RafaelDeJongh/cap. Wiremod is REQUIRED for this pack to function correctly, you can download it either via the Workshop or Github.

To download the Wiremod Addon via GitHub, click on the url below where you will be linked to the Github Repository where you then can download the files as a .zip or clone it with the Native Github Application to your desktop.

Spacebuild
To make use of the energy system where entities such as the Stargates, Weapons and other entities that use power, provided by ZPM's and Naquadah generators, you require to have the Spacebuild Addon. You can download it by following the Steam Workshop or GitHub pages below.

The two spacebuild packs consists of one being the pack that has the Life Support system and is required for energy usage and two the Spacebuild Enhancement Pack, a pack that adds the ability to build and wire up flyable ships. While the enhancement pack is not required for the energy system, we do recommend it, as most servers that make use of Spacebuild together with CAP, also make use of the Enhancement Pack.

Now, if you downloaded the github stuff. you need to install it in your gmod directory, which is located in program files (86) Then in steam, steam apps, common, garrysmod, addons.
After that, make sure everything is installed correctly, then start your gmod. You will see that there is a tools tab to CAP, and a spawn tab for cap. The spawn tabs holds Misc weapons, Stargates and rings, Weapons, some props, entities, and some flyable vehicles.
The tool tab holds many other things, such as ZPMs, flying instructions, Irises etc.

If this does not work try these steps.

1. Remove the GMA files from CAP located in the addons folder which in return Garry's Mod can redownload them.
2. Uninstall OR disable all your addons and redownload/install only CAP & Wire
3. Uninstall your whole Garry's Mod (Deleting the whole garry's mod folder located under the COMMON's folder) Then install only CAP and Wire.
4. If it's still not working then try downloading the addon via the Github Repository to make sure it's not a problem with the steam workshop version.
If none of these work please post a comment either containing a screenshot of the cap error from ingame, or what you need help with.

----------------------Known Errors-------------------
  • Cap wont work if you download resources off of github while subscribed to the whole addon pack.
  • addon version checker is corrupt (Ignore this error and deal with it)
  • CAP can say your wiremod is corrupt. Reinstall wiremod.
Compatibility Issues
Unfortunately, some addons on the workshop will cause problems with CAP. These addons are simply incompatible, you can choose to either remove the workshop addon or remove CAP. I prefer to keep CAP, you can inform the maker of the workshop addon, but they may or may not care, or be able to fix it.

If you experience a problem with CAP, the first think to do is disable all workshop addons and see if it still happen. If it does, you can then report it to the CAP dev team on their website http://www.sg-carterpack.com/ .

If the problem is caused by an addon, you’ll have to try and figure out which one. If you already had CAP installed, you just need to try disabling the stuff you added recently. If you first install it and it doesn’t work you’ll have to try figuring out which on it is. This can be a big pain & I don’t know of any easy way to do it. You can try disabling groups of addons to narrow it down.

Also, sometimes having too many add-ons can also cause issues, which makes tracking down problems a real pain.

I’ll try to keep a list of incompatible addons here:



EAP - Screws cap up since EAP is a remake of cap.
RAP - Can cause some errors that prevent gates from working.
Gbombs 3 - Keeps unstable vortex from rendering, everything else works fine.
Player Resizer - Completely breaks the entire CAP addon.


If you find any more addons that have problems, or find that any on the list are fixed and now work let me know.
