Fortress River

Omschrijving
Overview
Fortress River is a Fortress-style no rush random map. Players start with walls, gates, and towers to protect their starting area. However, aside from a few forage bushes, all the resources a player needs will be outside the safety of their fortress. Thick forest hampers direct travel, and the only way to access your enemies is across a large river with broad patches of shallows which are challenging to defend. WIll you cross the river and expand your dominion? Or will the trees swallow your civilisation whole?

Key random factors:
-River position and orientation will vary
-Shallows may vary in position and number
-Team land areas may become large islands
-There may be extra sheep or relics
-Dogs can fly

AI Behaviour:
The standard AI has no problem playing Fortress river, and makes an excellent opponent!

Strategy:
-Use warships and transports effectively
-Explore carefully, and be sure to keep an eye on your immediate area - enemies can sneak up on you through narrow paths in the forests
-Defend the shallows
-Cavalry excel here with their speed and armour

If you wish to develop your own random map scripts, there are links and comments inside the .RMS file.

About Random Maps:
Random Maps are different every time you play them; the script defines rules about the environment and units etc, and the game engine randomises the placement of terrain and units based upon these rules. It's a new experience every time!

To play this map:
1. Open the Single Player or Multi Player game lobby
2. Change Game to Random Map
3. Change Type to Custom
4. Change Map to Fortress River V1

Fantastic map. I love it, very fun. Especially in a 1 vs 3 match, or something similar.

You can load a random map inside the Scenario editor, make changes, and then save it as a Scenario. However bear in mind that the map will not be random - it'll be the same every time.

If you want to make the random map spawn more gold, you'll need to edit the RMS file. There are guides online that will teach you how to make your own random map scripts. It should be quite easy to add more gold.

Is there a way for me to edit this map to add some gold ores? perhaps edit it as a scenario?

1. Intended behaviour it's not too hard to cut the trees that are in the way.
2. The farms are decorative; you're not intended to be able to use them.

Seems to work fine to me but a couple of things seem up with this map.
1. Veeeery forested around almost all forts, nearly all gates are blocked by trees.
2. The farms seem to be immediately removed by the AI? Or spawn weirdly and end up getting immediately deleted by the map, I'm not exactly sure what's up with them.

I think I'll run a few more games just to see what other weird stuff generates.
