Just put the mod to the top of the list then the problem with showing 4 but only allow equipping 2, for the 3 problem one remove the inventory expansion.

If you can use only 3 trinkets, try to remove inventory exspansion mods, it helped me.

@Lila Fjäril there is a 5, 6 and 8 mod. Though those dont seem to work anymore.
