About Battle Engie
A Battle Engie is an Engineer, who's playing more offensive than usual. Hanging out on front lines near his team and supporting teammates with Dispenser and Teleporters.

Battle Engineer trades his defensive role for agressive offensive role!

With your shotgun and gunslinger equipped, you can defend yourself pretty easily. Be aggressive with shotgun isn't a bad thing since that gun is really strong. But don't overrestimate it! Remember you're support to your team. Not main source of damage.
When to play him?
This Texan is most viable on offense beacuse of his Mini Sentry that can be built quickly compared to normal Sentry that would slow you. His ability to reposition himself and his buildings is awesome!
When it comes to repositioning, don't try to put your Mini on a same place. The enemy will quickly learn that and your Sentry will be no longer safe.
In short, you can play whenever you like. Even on Defence the Battle Engie is pretty good but then be sure that your team has another Engineer with lvl. 3 Sentry.
Weapons
Primary

Shotgun

This is pretty strong primary that Combat Engie can have. You can do pretty big amout of damage with this tool if you have decent aim. It can be loaded up to six shells which is enough to kill a distracted Heavy. Overall best primary for Battle Engie.
I can recommend it for beginners.

Damage Output:
  • Point Blank: 80-90; 180 crit
  • Medium Range: 10-30; 90 crit
  • Long range: 3-10; 30 crit
Clip Size - 6
Ammo Count - 32

Frontier Justice

This is a very interesting sightgrade to the previously mentioned shotgun. It gains 2 revenge crits per sentry kill and 1 revenge crit for sentry assisst. You can fire those juicy crits at your enemies once your Sentry is destroyed. But the downside is that this gun can hold only 3 shells in a clip size. Keep your Frontier Justice reloaded and also carry a secondary Pistol in case you'll run out of ammo!

Damage Output:
  • Point Blank: 80-90; 180 crit
  • Medium Range: 10-30; 90 crit
  • Long range: 3-10; 30 crit
Clip Size - 3
Ammo Count - 32

Widowmaker

This toy is for more experienced players who have a good aim. If you have a good aim, this gun is for you. Let me explain, Widowmaker don't have it's own ammo capacity but it uses metal as it's ammo. With every successfull shot, you'll get your spent metal back. Perfect for players who can land a successfull meatshot.

Damage Output:
  • Point Blank: 80-90; 180 crit
  • Medium Range: 10-30; 90 crit
  • Long range: 3-10; 30 crit

Secondary

Pistol

This stock secondary is pretty common beacuse it can take enemies from a long range when your Shotgun shots would be a waste of ammo.

Damage Output:
  • Point Blank: 22; 45 crit
  • Medium Range: 13-17; 45 crit
  • Long Range: 8-10; 45 crit
Clip Size - 12
Ammo Count - 200

Short Cicruit

Until the Blue Moon update, the Short Cicruit was pretty much defensive weapon but now I can see it more offenisve weapon rather than defensive. It fires a special consuming-projectile ball for 65 metal. This makes 1v1 fights with Soldiers and Demomans much easier. It is also worth mentioning that the ball deals about 15 damage and can penetrate players.

Damage Output:
  • Damage: 15; stacked up to 110 damage

Melee

Gunslinger

This robotic hand is probably core of this subclass. You won't get random crits, but the third successfull punch in a row will be always a critical hit. A little gift is also +25HP that can help you survive more damage and allows you to take more risks.
But the main thing is that it obviously replaces you Sentry to a Mini Sentry. Theese babies costs 100 metal and deploys in about 3 seconds. They shouldn't be the main source of damage but they can work as a great distraction. It's smaller than regular so be creative with your sentry spots!

Damage Output:
  • Gunslinger hit: 65 damage per hit
  • Mini Sentry: 48 DPS; 6 bullets per second; 1 bullet = 8 damage

*DPS= Damage per second
Loadouts
Few loadout that I found interesting:

Stock Battle Engie

Best support loadout, throw down a mini sentry and start meatshotting people. I recommend this one.

Froniter Justice loadout

Play around your mini sentry's kills, be prepared to fire your crits at anyone.

Widowmaker loadout

The idea of this loadout is to have Gunslinger only for +25 health. You won't build mini sentry, instead put all your metal into Widowmaker, Dispensers and Teleporters.
Usefull tips
You have now become a Combat Engineer. Congratulations! Now for some tips and tricks for helping you out.

Positioning
Put your sentry behind you while you're firing your shotgun. This will protect you from anything behind you and if your sentry is firing something behind you, you can turn around.

Keep distance
Keep yourself away from your sentry while shooting an enemy. The enemy will need to pick you or the sentry to kill, and before he makes the decision, he'll probably be dead.

Choosing a good targets
You have 150 health, not 125. You can take hits more often so you can take hits for weak teammates, so they won't die.

Gamesense
Always communicate with your teammates about your building placements. They can protect the buildings from enemies, allowing you to stay calm and make decisions easier.

And there you have it. Have fun being a Combat Engineer!
End
That was recreation of my already existing guide which was very poorly made. Anyways I hope you have learned something new here, don't forget to rate this guide and comment it.

If you're not a part of my steam group, make it happen here!

Yes! I tried to focus this guide mainly around Battle Engineer with gunslinger. But using the Jag is viable too!

The Jag is also very useful, if you're able to set up a forward base.
