Minecraft's because if you spawn on a cliff you're screwed. In Terraria you have grappling hook and a gun.

I beg to diffee about unforgiving, In minecraft, If you even strike a pig zombie, you are never getting your stuff back.

Terraria's hell may have more hostiles/stuff that kills you. but it benefits you a lot more to go there. (shadow chests+mimics+hellfire arrows+explosives+molten stuff+mario stuff,etc.)
minecraft gives you decoration and potion stuff.
