By Merim
In this guide you will know important stuff when playing Left 4 dead 2. I will put in clear details as possible so when you get in the game, you will be able to use this as a useful guide on what you should and shouldnt do. This all varies which mode you will play, as the info is longer than the others. You are allowed to skip the section as I am doing every modes including enemies, guns, and items if you wish to know. This includes some advices and tips that will help you survive and at the same time help your team win in some modes.

If you are new to the game, I strongly recommend playing single player or campaign, around Easy or Normal difficulty until you understand how the game works and know the map very well. Read this guide if you need more information on how the game works, weapons, teams (Both Survivors and Zombies), modes, and more.

Campaign
Also known to be "Single Player" (when playing offline or alone). Campaign is a game simply going through a story map which usually lasts an hour or so depending on your playthrough. You have to stick together and work your way through to the end. Then when you reach the final level you must survive until rescue comes to get you and your team. Here are the guns you need to know.

Guns:

SMG/Assault rifle

Mid range weapon, perfect for close combat and fairly far distance.

Pros: Lots of ammo, can combat against a horde of zombies which is a very effective weapon if you shoot precisely (such as headshots).

Cons: Damage is not as strong as shotguns or snipers, but stronger than pistols (except magnum pistol, but has more bullets). If any zombies are extremely far, it will be alot harder for you to kill them. As the gun is primarily use for mid range combat. Its possible though.

While not as dangerous as other guns when it comes to damage, its fire rate will harm your teams. Control your shots to reduce any further accidents.

Tip: Dont waste alot of ammo on a single zombie, a well placed headshot is enough to kill them. They can easily run out of ammo if you dont control your shots. A single fire or 3 round burst would be wise, while automatic is useful in most cases if theres either too many zombies or certain zombies that can take alot of bullets.

Pistols

Your best friend. Every game you start begins with a pistol. Grab another for dual pistols. Pistols carry unlimited ammo, but its firepower isnt that great, but a well placed headshot should help. However, dealing with special infecteds can be challenging with them since you need to make sure every shot count otherwise they will attack you as you reload.

Pros: Unlimited ammo, when you are downed you will use those pistols and if you have grab another pistol or have a magnum you will use THAT pistol, which is perfect for defending yourself as your team help you up.

If you are out of ammo for your primary weapon, your secondary weapon (pistol) will save you until you find ammo.

Cons: Low firepower (pistols) which the zombies can take hits as they charge at you and attack you.

Low chamber (magnum) you must make every shot count before they attack you while reloading, make sure to reload when the time is right.

Horrible recoil when downed and low fire rate (pistol), making it harder to kill zombies.

Tip: Even though you dont have to worry about ammo, most zombies can take hits. Make sure you get some hits, a headshot is enough to kill most of them. Remember that you will still have to reload which gives them the time to jump you.

Pump/Auto Shotgun

Shotguns are possibly the strongest guns you get in the game, which can kill almost any zombies in seconds depending on your aim, range, and fire rate. This also depends on the recoil as some shotguns has less recoil. Its also the most dangerous because you can take away alot of your team's health with it at close range. Treat it with respect, because the moment you shoot your team close range, you will regret it.

Pros: Extremely useful at close range, which can wipe away any infecteds very quickly.

Can interrupt reloading, if you wish to shoot then you may do so. Shoving helps.

Can penetrate through zombies, one shot can kill multiple zombies if aimed right.

Running or jumping while shooting wont matter, because the crosshair is so big anyways you can use it for rushing.

Cons: Slow reloading, which needs more time than any other weapons. This is also awful when too many zombies are on you.

Hard to shoot at mid range, and impossible to shoot from far range. If your team gets caught by zombies and you are too far, you have to run back if you want to land some hits on them.

Tips: Dont shoot carelessly (especially auto shotguns), just control your shots and if you can try to penetrate them to help waste less ammo. Watch for friendly fires too, its the most dangerous gun out of them all.

Snipers

Very strong, and very accurate guns. You have a scope which can help zoom in when it comes to far range combat. Extremely useful on providing cover from a far distance. As long as your team is in your sights, you can save them no matter how far they are.

Pros: Very powerful and very accurate, reloading is fairly good. Headshots are even more devastating.

Can save your team from a far distance as long as you can see them. Make sure to zoom in if you want a better view. You can shoot without zooming in as well because it has crosshair.

Very good penetration, can kill multiple zombies with one shot, though they must be lined up rather than side by side like shotguns.

Cons: Horrible crosshair while moving. Staying still is usually the best way to get proper aim and kills.

Zooming in reduces speed, you will be walking. It also limited the views from the corner in your scope (which means any zombie can attack you from those corners, as the scope is round and doesnt cover the whole view).

Getting attacked by zombies automatically stops you from zooming in, this makes it harder to give your team cover if you are under attack (especially when overwhelmed).

Even though the friendly fire is not as dangerous as shotguns (close range), its still dangerous as it is because it has more firepower than any other guns especially if you shoot your team from far range. Same advice as shotguns, treat it with respect because it can take away alot of your teams health.

Tips: Dont get jumped on, snipers are not meant to get jumped on and its fairly difficult to clean them off from you.

Dont run and shoot because its really difficult to shoot, laser sights will make things alot easier for you.

Melee

Extremely useful weapon on close range and can combat any infecteds including the ones surrounding you. Considering you dont have to reload, you can keep swinging and not get tired (shoving will make you tired). Shoving can be useful in some cases to stun someone and then finish off with a swing.

Pros: Very powerful at close range.

Dont have to worry about reloading, just keep swinging!

Less concern for friendly fire, since you dont have to shoot.

Cons: Can be dangerous against certain zombies, even the best weapon has its worse moments.

Has no range (or very small range), this is dangerous when ranged zombies attack you.

Remember that when you run out of ammo for your primary weapon, your secondary weapon (melee) wont be useful when it comes to attacking zombies from a distance, you must charge at them.

Cant use melee weapons when downed, it will be a pistol again. But the slight good news is you use your melee after being revived.

Tips: There are some zombies I would strongly recommend not using, because of their tremendous power. See more in the Versus Section for details.

Special Guns

Special Guns are guns you can find in the game that contains even the strongest firepower in the game, however even the strongest has its flaws. Such as not able to refill ammo and when you waste ammo, you will lose that gun and the only weapon you'll have is your secondary.

Grenade Launcher

The only weapon in the game involves explosions. Very useful against crowded zombies and can be used to stumble some, giving you time to shove them to death.

Pros: Perfect for mid range combat, and possibly good for far range too if you have good aim.

Considering you can make zombies stumble means you can free your team if they are trapped or caught by any zombies.

Good for killing multiple zombies with one shot, very useful when using bile bomb because it gathers them all together which you can wipe them all with one shot and possibly pipe bomb too (because the pipe bomb will blow them up anyways).

Cons: Horrible at close range, if you shoot the zombies who are up close to you the explosion can hurt you and you will lose damage. Same to be said with your team if providing cover.

See more below for details.
Campaign (Part 2)
Continue from above.

Special Guns (continued)

Grenade Launcher

Cons: It has only 1 shot, so you will reload very often and while you have plenty of ammo you will still eventually lose that weapon if you run out of ammo.

Cant refill ammo.

Using ammo type (like explosive or incendiary) is useless because you will only have one shot. After that shot then its gone. Incendiary is the least useful for zombies that survive the explosion, whether use for ensuring their death or just give a bit of extra damage (well the same with explosive rounds damage wise), but overall its pointless. Plus setting them on fire with incendiary doesnt last long like molotovs or any proper flammable items.

Tips: Rely on your secondary weapon more often to conserve ammo. This also helps when dealing with close range combat to avoid casualties and less friendly fire.

The range for grenade launcher isnt that good, if your secondary weapon has bullets then use it because a grenade launcher doesnt really shoot straight forward.

Anything that can get the horde gather together will make it easier for you to wipe them all out with a single shot.

M60

A large machine gun, with LOTS of bullets with very strong firepower that can mow down crowded zombies easily. You dont have to worry about reloading and does a huge amount of damage on certain zombies that can take hits.

Pros: No reloading, just keep shooting.

Firepower is devastating, making it easier to kill many zombies.

Using ammo type items (incendiary or explosives) makes it even more dangerous.

Cons: Can lose your weapon just like the grenade launcher.

Cant refill ammo.

There are certain type of zombies can take alot of hits, this can easily waste all your ammo despite the damage.

Here you will learn about items, its important to make use of it for later uses so it can make it easier for you and your team to survive.

Items

Items are everywhere through the map, you must find them and make use of them on your way through which will help you. Here are the list.

Medkit

The most important thing to get throughout the game. Nothing more to explain, it simply heals you. Do NOT use it while good health because you dont get much from it and it will be a waste. Use it when you are incredibly injured. Important part is to use it IMMEDIATELY if your screen is black and white. The medkit has the ability to reset how many times to get down. If you get down 2 times, thats when you are black and white. If you are down the 3rd time, you are dead.

Pros: Has incredible healing, especially when extremely injured.

Can heal other people, which in turn they can shoot while being healed.

Prevent you from dying, especially if you are black and white. The moment you are healed, the screen will be colored again. Which means you wont have to worry dying until you are downed the 2nd time.

Cons: Healing has its meter, it must be full in order for it to happen. In other words, your team MUST cover you because any zombies can interrupt your healing. However, the meter will go up even if you are under attack. But it will be interrupted if you go down or your team (if healing others).

Medkits are difficult to find, make use of them.

Tips: It is good to heal yourself with medkits to keep yourself standing. However, it is BEST used when you are black and white. Live longer.

Heal your team if they need one (especially if they are black and white), this will help improve your chances to win and keep the team lasting longer.

Pills

When you need quick healing or you just dont want to use your medkits yet, pills will back you up. Healing you up to 50 health. You can also give your team some pills if they needed it. This is also useful when you are in need of healing.

Pros: They are not as difficult to find unlike medkits, so they tend to come around.

Instant healing! Consume it quick and keep moving!

Can toss your pills to your team, more quicker than to heal them with medkits.

Cons: They will NOT count on your downs. If you use it on any other means (even black and white), you will still be in that position. You MUST get a medkit in order to reset it.

It heals less than medkit, its useful to keep you standing but it also limits your health (your health slowly goes down). Not to mention it also means you will get down quicker if you are overwhelmed.

Tip: It heals 50 health, make sure of that and do NOT use it if you are not below 50 health. Using it soon as possible helps you stand longer, while using it too early (above 50 health) will waste some of that health.

Give pills to your team if you dont need one. They might need one too if you want to keep them alive. You need them to keep you safe.

Adrenaline shot

If you need something to keep you running and low health, the shot is useful. When used, you will run at a very fast speed. Nothing will slow you down.

Pros: Can give you some heals in addition a speed boost for a limited time. Very useful when rushing or injured.

Can toss it to your team like pills, useful for quick use.

Cons: Less heals which means you can get down quicker than any other heals, and once again its not counted for downs just like pills. Must get a medkit to reset them.

Speed boost is limited, when its times up then you will be back to normal. This also means if you are very injured. Which will leave you almost helpless if you are caught in the bad spot.

Tips: Give one to your team if they are hurt, perfect item to help them catch up if they are falling behind.

Remember that the speed boost effect will make you not only run faster, but most obstacles wont slow you down. Even zombies hitting you wont slow you down.

defibrillator

This item is useful to bring your team back to life when they are dead. This also resets their downs and have them at green health. Remember to use them AFTER clearing the zombies, its dangerous reviving them while under attack because you or the person you revived can get under attack.

Pros: Brings your team back to life, resets their downs, and put them in good health.

Cons: Its not a healing item, and its only used when one of your team died.

This replaces medkit, this leaves to difficult choices because its either you reset your downs by healing, or by bringing your team back to life.

Similar to medkits, defibs are difficult to find. But not as difficult as medkits.

Tips: Grab them if you dont have a medkit, better something than nothing.

If you are actually going to take them over medkits, make sure you understand the risks because you will have less teams to cover you.

See more below.
Campaign (Part 3)
Continue from above.

Pipe Bomb Extremely useful item when too many zombies are on you and your team. Its a bomb that makes beeping noises, makes the zombies chase it. It will explode later, killing any thats in its range.

Pros: Attracts zombies, and destroys any thats near it. Extremely useful on events (blowing up stuff, light it on fire, or anything that involves defending in general) or if you are covered in boomer bile.

Cons: Can hurt your team from the explosion, but shouldnt be bad because it takes long to explode.

If zombies attack you while you throw pipe, they will still attack you. Shove them to stop them from attacking you, remember to stay out of their way as well.

Throwing the pipe bomb too far is a bad choice, because even if it makes the zombies chasing it, by the time it explodes before they reach it, they will come back to you.

Throwing it at the out of range area will cause the zombies to not chase it and instead will look at it, which will chase you later after it explodes.

Tips: When starting a horde match (involving defending in general), using the pipe bomb helps delay their approach to you and will waste time chasing that pipe bomb.

Using it when getting puked on will help keep them off from you until the puke wears off.

Molotovs Useful to cover flanks and lasts longer than pipe bomb. Can burn any zombies until they die. Never use this on water, because it will not work (with the exception of very shallow water).

Pros: Burns any zombies until they die.

Useful to cover flank and lasts longer than pipe bombs.

Cons: Can hurt your team, and its more dangerous than pipe bombs due to lasting longer. Stay away from the fire.

Any zombies but regular zombies have come across water will cool them off, which means they will not be on fire and their deaths from fire is avoided.

Tips: Useful with boomer bile because it doesnt harm zombies unless if thrown directly to them. This can be used to burn away any zombies thats gathered in the boomer bile.

The SMARTEST thing you can do is saving it for a certain zombie thats really too strong for you. Because the fire will stay with them until they die. See "Tank" and "Witch" in the Versus section for details.

Boomer Bile A puke bomb, useful to attract zombies and use it as bait. Lasts longer than pipe and harmless against survivors.

Pros: Will not harm your team.

Using it on zombies will cause other zombies to attack them.

Lasts longer than pipe bombs, makes escaping more easier.

Pretty much its almost as useful as pipe bombs in most cases (except while being puked on).

Cons: Does not hurt zombies, its primary use is mainly for baiting.

Useless when covered in boomer bile. Do NOT use Boomer Bile if you get puked on, the zombies will ignore it and chase you. Including your team if they are puked. Only thing useful is if its used on the zombies they will attack them but regardless both sides gets the same treatment, which doesnt make much of a difference.

Tips: Its effects similar to pipe bomb as it involves attracting zombies, you can use that to last longer on a horde match when defending.

Dont use boomer bile if you are puked, especially your team. Its useless.

Using it on certain zombie dont really help and tends to backfire most of the time because of their health. This means eventually the zombies will start chasing you after the boomer bile wears off.

Incendiary ammo

Very useful and less ammo to use when dealing with many zombies. It sets them on fire, so even a single shot can set them off. For other zombies it does extra damage too.

Pros: Can set them on fire, less ammo to use.

Cons: Its only used on a full rounded chamber, in some guns with less ammo means it lasts less longer. Plus when you use up all in that chamber, its gone and you will be using regular ammo after.

Useless if they are on water.

Fire doesnt last long unlike most flammable weapons which lasts until death or they are in water. It will cool off itself on some zombies.

Tips: Use ammo wisely, make use of them just as you would do with regular ammo. They are even easier to conserve.

Know that it replaces medkits in its slot. While thats a bad thing, if you are using it immediately would help you get your medkit or any items in the medkit slot.

Grenade launcher gives permanent fire damage (unless water is near it doesnt help).

Explosive Rounds

Very useful when dealing multiple zombies, a single shot can take down many if they are together.

Pros: Takes down multiple zombies with a single shot with any primary guns if aimed properly.

Helps provide better cover, stumble some zombies as well which means it can help you free someone from a distance.

Does extra damage.

Cons: Like Incendiary, it lasts less longer depending on the guns you choose and when you use up all those shots, it will be gone and you will use regular ammo.

Dangerous at close range, can give you damage and probably your team too since its range from the explosion is slightly bigger than regular ammo.

Not only it does extra damage to zombies, but survivors too. Watch your shots.

Tips: Use them when you can. Most people tend to ignore but it really helps when it comes to conserve ammo.

Like most tips from incendiary ammo, using ammo wisely will help last longer.

While it also replaces medkits, as long as you are using it immediately you can get it back after setting it down.

Important tip: You can only use ONE ammo box to use. If you try to use both, it will replace the one you currently have with the one you are trying to get.

Pickup items

While most people tend to ignore it at times. The items you find around the area can be useful in some cases when fighting the hordes. Depending which you use and how you use it, it can either be very useful and less useful. This all depends on how you use it properly.

Propane gas

The kind of items you will likely see through the game, when shooting it will cause an explosion. Nothing special about it, just a simple propane gas.

Pros: Using it with boomer bile is effective, can blow up zombies thats gathered around in that area.

Using it on certain zombies will make them stumble. Enough time for you to either run away or shoot them while they are stumbled. Even the strongest zombie will stumble as well.

Does good damage.

Cons: Other than boomer bile, theres really nothing else special with that item. Considering you will be picking it up, means you cant fight unless dropped or thrown. The very least useful about it for some zombies that can survive the fire is propane gas, since if you set it off on fire it will explode (though takes a bit longer to explode).

Can harm you and your team, making the survivors stumble as well if caught in the explosion up close.

Tips: You dont really have to use it, and theres usually plenty to find. You can just leave it alone and move on. Use it only if you really needed to. Especially if by chance you find it and have some sort of idea.

Cannister

An even more dangerous item than propane gas. It does bigger damage and cause bigger explosion, which can take down many more zombies than propane gas.

Pros: Even more useful with boomer bile, you can blow up more zombies.

Does more damage and the bigger explosion means better chance to make them stumble.

Cons: Takes more time to explode when shooting or setting it on fire.

More likely to cause survivors stumble due to the explosion being bigger, and does more damage as well.

Tips: Like propane gas, you dont really have to use it unless needed. Just ignore and move on. If you needed to, especially by chance if you find it and have some sort of idea then feel free to use it.

Gasoline

Basically a pickup item that has the same effect as molotovs, but has bigger fire.

Pros: Has bigger fire than molotov.

Provides better cover due to having to spread more.

Like molotov, when they are set on fire it will stay.
Campaign (part 4)
Continue from above.

Gasoline

Cons: Wont set on fire if its on deeper water, usually better off to set it off on land.

Can harm you and your team, especially if staying in one place and one of you accidentally set it off near you.

Tips: While you can just ignore and move on. This can be useful on certain zombies because it sets them on fire until death. This is useful if you dont have a molotov with you. Helps you get a better chance to get the job done.

Fireworks

Wont go into details with this one, its just like gasoline and all of its effects. The difference is that instead of causing it to be on fire, it will set off fireworks, its fire effects and everything are just like gasoline. This includes the pros, cons, and tips.

Gnome

A pointless item, but at the same time. The only useful item when it comes to achievements. You can also carry it if you wish just for joke reasons. But in serious reasons, its only a waste of time. Wont be putting up pros and cons in this because theres really no reason to. My only tip when it comes to achievement, take good care of it. All the way to the end (take it with you in the escape vehicle!).

NOTE: Remember to always carry it even when reaching to the saferoom! At least have someone carry it all the way through!

This is the end of the Campaign section.
Versus
This section is a MUST READ. Because if you jump right in game and not know how to play, you will likely get kicked out from the teams which happens pretty often if you dont play good. It is by far the most competitive mode and lasts the game twice as long than Campaign due to involving switching players after either reaching the end or the survivors died. Versus mode involves 4 on 4 match with survivors vs zombies, I will give details about survivors and zombies both fighting against and playing as. Also be VERY careful because you are fighting players, which means some can come up a strategy that can easily kill you if you wander off some areas unaware and unprepared.

Survivors:

As survivors, you must reach the end of the level into a safe room. You will have to make your choices along the way, waste time finding items and guns or just keep moving and waste less time. They all share the same statistics, only thing different is their character and personality which has nothing to do with gameplay. Be careful not to shove too much, because you will get tired and start shoving more slowly. Making it easier for other zombies to attack.

Make sure to pay attention to your health bar (in zombies case, the outline). If its green, they are healthy. If its yellow, they are hurt and you will notice them moving a bit slower. Red bar they will go even more slower. 1 health will make them extremely slow, even a single hit will take them down (or kill them if they are black and white). Its important as survivors because you get points, the zombies job is to prevent them from winning. Killing all survivors will end the round and either it will switch teams or go to the next level (depending if both have their turns on both sides). If the survivors win, they not only get points, but extra points for reaching the safe room depending how many are in there. If both sides reached the safe room, there will be a tie breaker and depending on the results, the winner gets a extra point.

Reminder that you MUST stick together, the further you go alone the more danger you will be which makes it harder for the other teams to save you when you are attacked helplessly. And beware of any death areas, such as huge pits or water (survivors cant swim). For the very least if you do fall off, you might end up grabbing the ledge, which you will be helpless and need someone to get you up.

Zombies gives away noises as well, so listen carefully!

Zombies:

As zombies you MUST stop the survivors from reaching the safe room or escape vehicle. The further they go, the more points they get. You must stop them from preventing going further. Remember that you must work together with your other team if you want to do some better damage and get a better chance to kill them. Killing one of them will not only make it harder for them to survive but earn less points. Its also important to attack them when they are seperate, especially if one is alone which can make it easier for you to kill them. Here are the details for zombies below.

NOTE: You can harm your team with some attacks, friendly fire is ON as well. Another note is that as zombies, you will spawn randomly as different zombies. So you must make use of them whatever you become. If you die, you will have to wait until you respawn. This varies on how many teams you have, more teams you have means more longer to spawn. Less teams you have, the less time to spawn. Careful when you spawn.

Infecteds:

Playable: No.

Regular zombies, they run faster than survivors and does a fair amount of damage. Shoot them or shoving can help.

Hunter:

Playable: Yes.

A special infected, has a ability to pounce on survivors which they will be helplessly attacked. Primary attack is pounce, many use it often due to lack of cooldown which can be used almost any time. You can wall jump with pounce by jumping on the wall, face at the opposite direction and pounce again. You can also do extra damage from high pounce. Secondary attack is claw, many dont use it alot but fairly useful if a survivor is really that injured, you can claw one (making them go down) and pounce another after.

Tips: When fighting against hunters, its possible to stop them from pouncing you by shoving. A bad timing would cause them to pounce you, while a good timing will stumble them, which you can either shoot or shove them to death. You can also shove the hunter off your team to free them, a more quicker solution to free than just shooting. Less time to free them and possibly avoid later damage.

When fighting as hunter, you can do 2 things. Pounce one and make use of the damage out of it, or use it to provide cover on the team that captured one survivor. In this case, when one survivor is helplessly attacked by other special infected, you can use hunter to get the other who is attempting to free their team. Which makes the survivors to be in trouble.

Smoker:

Playable: Yes.

A special infected that has range. Primary attack is tongue, it shoots out a tongue to grab a survivor from a distance and wrapped them. Leaving them helpless. In Versus mode, Smoker has poor damage, but regardless its useful in some cases if you know how to make use of him. Secondary attack is claw, which is fairly useful if you wish to do damage to survivor. But highly recommend to focus on the other survivor thats attempting to free that survivor.

Tips: When fighting against smokers, be careful not to get pulled at the opposite side of the area (such as large pit, broken bridge, etc.), you will be on the ledge and become helpless. They can also use smokers to help with a combo that will lead you to your death (such as both players become smoker and charger, one pulls a survivor and the other charges the survivor to their death, which you cant grab on the ledge). Its important to know the enemy's plan if you dont want to lose a team (or yourself). If your team is caught by smoker, you can either shoot smoker or shove a survivor to free them. Taking cover will help avoid getting pulled.

When fighting as smoker, while it doesnt give off the best damage, its good to provide assistance whenever your team caught one survivor. Helps them last longer. Just as I said above, you can use smoker to have them on the ledge if you pull them from opposite direction. Or from below if possible.

Boomer:

Playable: Yes.

Special infected with smaller range. Boomers are very slow, and can be very dangerous. However, they also have the smallest health which can easily be killed and end up getting blown up. If a boomer blows up near a survivor, they get boomer biled. Primary attack is puke, where you can puke on the survivor. The outline will be purple which means they are attracting the hordes. Zombies can also be purple with boomer bile (grenade). It does not harm the zombies, and for the least if a boomer explodes near any zombies will make them stumble. Secondary attack is claw. Useful to do some damage after puking if you feel you cant escape. Boomers are known to also have a extremely slow cooldown, which takes a long time for them to puke again.

Tips: When fighting against boomers, be VERY aware of around the corners, or even places they can possibly approach you. Boomers are useless on open field because they must reach you at a good range to puke you. If a boomer is up close to you, I would suggest you shove first, keep a far distance and then shoot. They can easily die. Be careful not to shoot them near teams, or else they get boomer biled.

When fighting as boomers, NEVER spawn in a open field. Boomers are really slow and can be easily killed. Its important to spawn usually in buildings or any places to ambush them close range. Stay close to them so when you die, they will get boomer biled (should you mess up on puking and didnt get anyone). If you feel you cant escape, run and claw them. If you can escape, hide until fully recharged.

See more below.
Versus (Part 2)
Continue from above.

Zombies:

Charger:

Playable: Yes.

Chargers are big guys with one arm. They have more health than almost every other special infecteds. They can take hits especially when they charge. Primary attack is charge, they charge straight at the survivor with faster speed and uncontrollable turns. They charge straight up and wont stop until it reaches its limit or charged into a wall. It also gives you damage if you charge into a wall (it doesnt if you charge a survivor into a wall). After a charge, they proceed to pummel a survivor repeatedly on the ground (sometimes hit the wall or ceiling (if theres a ceiling)). They do big damage as well, but they attack pretty slow. If all survivors focus on the charger can kill him fairly quickly before he get a chance to pummel one. They are also extremely dangerous on areas that can knock you down to your death. Grabbing on ledge is not possible if you are the victim. They also send other survivors flying fairly high, which is dangerous in some areas as well because it either causes fall damage, get downed, or possibly death. Secondary attack is claw. People tend to use claw first before charging to do some extra damage. Sometimes if people mess up on the charge, they use claw to help make up the mistake. Also useful to down a survivor (if they are very injured) so you can charge the other. Its cooldown is fairly slow, if you can escape then you may do so. So that way you can do another charge.

Tips: When fighting against Chargers, you must be aware of the situation such as dangerous pits, water, etc. Chargers can charge you down and kill you instantly. Watch for narrow hallways as well, and they are even more dangerous with spitters and boomers with them which can do extra damage. Your team must focus on the charger for him to die quickly. You CANNOT shove a charger, they are strong enough to not get shoved.

When fighting as Charger, they are useful in many other ways besides charging the survivors to their death. Keep noted that doing so may end up killing the charger in the process (such as water, since zombies cant swim as well). If a charger mess up the charge they might end up dying alone. Other than the death charge, you can always find a position to charge at the enemies. Its important to attack together with the team for more damage, especially with boomers and/or spitters to support you.

Jockey

Playable: Yes.

Jockeys are known to leap on survivors and ride them on their backs. Useful to fall down with them for fall damage and have them grab on the ledge which can possibly kill you in the process. It can potentially get them killed as well depending if there is a ledge around (usually there is anyways). This can also be useful with a support from boomers and spitters. That primary attack would be lunge. While the Secondary attack is claw. Good to attack a downed survivor if they are getting revived.

Tips: When fighting against Jockey, they are similar to hunters as it involves going on the survivors. Only exception is it rides their back and takes them elsewhere. While hunters pounce on survivors and attack on that spot. Plus, Jockeys do less damage than Hunters. You can shove them the same way like hunters (except maybe you have to move backwards while shoving). A perfect timing would stun them, which you can either shoot them or shove them to death. Watch for dangerous areas so he wont take you on the ledge.

When fighting as Jockey, you can use jockey to take away the survivor and take them elsewhere. Useful for cover when your team gets one survivor. Which you can use THAT survivor to take them elsewhere, also prevents them shooting when they get down because you would take them somewhere out of range. Unless you have no clue what to do next, you can claw the victim your team caught to do some extra damage. You can get them on the ledge.

Spitter

Arguably the best range out of every other infecteds. Has a ability to shoot acid and if killed, spreads acid. Primary attack is spit, which the spitter shoots acid and keeps the survivors from progressing further. Spitters are mostly useful as supporters, because attacking alone doesnt really do much other than waste time and do only few damage. The acid also gives more damage if they stayed in there longer. In this case, spitters can spit on the survivor who is downed or caught by other special infecteds. This also helps prevent others to rescue a downed survivor or doing certain objectives (such as filling up a car with gas). Secondary attack is claw, useful when wanting to do extra damage on the survivors, especially on one that your team captured.

Tips: When fighting against Spitter, be careful when camping in a small room, the acid spreads and does damage. If theres too many zombies, it will make it harder for you to escape. Best thing to do is think about the possible scenario and prevent it from happening. If the room you stay in is big enough, then the acid wont harm you. Standing in some objects such as fences also prevents getting hurt from acid. But not all objects you stand on will help.

When fighting as Spitter, you are arguably the best supporter for the team because you can give out extra damage to the survivor with spit. This does a good amount of damage and potentially can easily down a survivor. If not down a survivor, do a good amount of damage. Do not attack alone, and if you can escape then do so. Because you can make use of spitters, as they are primarily useful on long range. Make sure you wait for your team to respawn so you can attack together with them.

Tank

Pretty much a boss of a game that comes around at some point. Players on the zombie team are randomly chosen and having a player playing as Tank is much dangerous if they are very knowledgable. Tanks are simply big guys who can take alot of damage and deliver big damage to survivors. They can punch heavy objects, which if a survivor gets hit by one is immediately downed. Primary attack is punch, which not only can you punch heavy objects, but survivors as well. Sends them flying and they will be off guarded for a moment. Can hit multiple survivors with one swing if they are very close together. Secondary attack is rock throw, useful for range combat, but Tank doesnt have the best range because the rock is much easier to dodge from a distance, it takes good aim to know where they will run at and survivors tend to be too tricky to hit.

Tips: When fighting against the Tank, EVERYONE must focus on the tank and kill him at all cost. If you have flammable objects such as gasoline or molotovs, use it. It will give you the better chance to win. Incendiary rounds wont last long when he's on fire and will go away later. Propane gas and cannister are the only ones that ever can stumble a tank, which is somewhat useful. Be careful not to get punched off to your death. Especially areas that gives you fall damage because you WILL get sent flying if you get punched. Dont get cornered as well, otherwise you will be downed easily.

When fighting as a Tank, its all on you. Your team will try to give out the best cover. BE CAREFUL when attacking. Tanks CAN kill their own teams easily. If your team caught a survivor, leave them be and attack others. Punching heavy objects such as cars are much easier to down a survivor. Avoid flammable objects such as molotovs or gasoline. You can pressure them to use it by rock throw, and keeping your distance away from them. If you are caught in the fire, and theres no water around then you must charge at them and attack before you die. Dont hide for too long because theres a meter on the side and if its depleted you will lose control of the tank and the other players will take over. If all players lose control of a tank, a bot will control the tank. To prevent this from happening, you must at LEAST hit a survivor once (whether by punching or rock throw). Punching heavy objects works.
Versus (Part 3)
Continue from above.

Zombies

Witch:

Playable: No.

Witches are when first seen, a lonely woman crying. She may look sad and depressed, but she is actually dangerous. If one approaches her, she will growl and start becoming violent. If a survivor stays near her too long or shoots her, she will attack. When attacking a survivor, she can instantly down a survivor, then following with attacking them until death. This also causes the horde of zombies to show up and attack. To prevent this, you either stay away from her or kill her. Though if you do kill her, whether theres casualties or not if it takes too long then the zombies will still come.

It is possible to kill her quickly, mainly with shotguns with precise aim. You can also use molotovs which usually slows her down. She is alot faster than any zombies and usually when she kills a survivor, she will run away. Any survivors blocking her away will attack them instead. Any other survivors burn the witch with any fire, she will chase that survivor instead. The witch's primary focus is attacking the survivor who alerted her. Theres also 2 kinds of witches.

One is a Sitting Witch, involves sitting down. She is more dangerous due to having faster reaction, harder to kill but possible. Usually can find her in levels involving nighttime.

The other is Wandering Witch, where she will walk across the field. She can be easily alerted, but has slower reaction which makes her easier to kill. Can be found in daytime levels.

Regardless, both of them can be treated the same as they are both witches regardless, just has different positions.

As Zombies, you can get a survivor to accidentally shoot a witch by staying behind her which will trigger her if she is shot.

Uncommon Zombies

Playable: No.

They are basically regular zombies with better abilities than regular zombies which they come across different levels. Such as one that is a hazard zombies, wont get burn from fire but also theres a chance they can drop boomer bile.

Then theres a clown zombie, which attracts the horde. Any zombies near the clown will follow that clown, which will attack the survivors together. This happens because the zombie clowns are making noises when they run. Shooting them will stop the zombies gathering.

Theres also armored zombies. Which is a zombie in a protected police armor. Bullets are useless against him, and his weakness his usually shooting from the back, due to lack of protection. Shotguns or headshots will only stumble them, setting on fire or explosives help. They also sometimes drop night stick (melee weapon).

Theres also swamp zombies, when attacking a zombie they will blind them with swamp which makes it harder for them to see. They usually attack from a crouching position when charging. They are harder to attack in the water because they would hide.

Fallen survivors are zombies with full of good stuff. They have more health than any zombies, and instead of attacking they would run away. If you kill a fallen survivor, they drop pills, medkits, and some grenades like pipe bombs or molotovs.
Realism and Team Versus.
Realism is a mode that acts similar to Campaign and Versus mode. It involves having zombies to become more stronger, harder to kill. Headshots are usually the best option in this mode. There are NO outlines on the survivors, which means you cant see through walls and if they are under attack, you have to listen where they are. Either that, or remember the last place they went in. Best advice in realism, STAY TOGETHER. Because at this point, if you go alone it will be alot harder for others to find you when you are caught and you will be more likely dead than regular mode.

Not only theres no outline for survivors but items too, you will have to pay attention where the items are. The only time the outlines will be shown if you are looking directly at that item. You will not see purple outline as well. Witches WILL kill you one hit no matter the difficulty.

Theres 2 modes in Realism. Realism Campaign and Realism Versus.

Realism Campaign is basically Campaign with Realism as explained above.

Realism Versus is Versus with Realism as explained above as well, only exception is it does not effect the zombies. Just survivors. A more challenging versus mode to play.

Team Versus is pretty much Versus mode where you gather your team and find a match. Nowadays people tend to play Versus because the majority of times theres usually no one to play usually people prefer the random match (due to having more players there as well). You can find Team Versus in Versus mode, click it and there should be Team Versus in the selection.
Scavenger
A different mode in Versus, a 4 on 4 match that involves filling up gas. The main objective as survivors is to fill up gas. As zombies, you have to prevent them from succeeding. They earn points by filling up gas, and when they die the points they earned are what they got. Then from there, the teams will be switched and will be up for the other team to beat their score. The most points wins.

Furthermore, if the teams are tied. There will be a tie breaker and the winner in that result will earn extra points.

In addition, spitters has a ability to burn gasolines (ONLY with yellow lines).

Survivors must be careful when carrying gasolines, shooting or burning it will cause it to be on fire. Losing it in the process and must wait for another one to respawn.
Mutation
Whether you see it as a fun mode or a challenging mode. Mutation is a mode that has multiple modes you can choose from. Whether you are playing by yourself, with some friends, or playing Versus match involves mutation, this mode gives off the fun.

In example of this is Hard Eight, where you fight in a campaign with more special infecteds, doubles the spawn time (they spawn more often) and double the special infecteds (2 hunters, 2 chargers, etc.).

Another example is Versus Survival, which involves Survival mode in Versus. The objective is simple, whoever survive the longest wins. Survivors just have to stay alive as long as they can while the zombies must kill them soon as possible. Longer they survive, more harder for the other team to win.

There are many more you can play from.
Survival
Survival mode is a mode that involves surviving. The longer you survive, the more harder it will be. You and your team will be trapped in a area with no chance of escaping. The main objective is simply surviving, theres a timer and when you start the horde the timer will start. When you die, it will tell you how long you survive. What you need to do on the next game is beat that time. Theres medals as well, such as bronze, silver, and gold. You have to survive at that time to earn a medal. When you earn gold medal, then theres nothing else to earn and all you can do is survive.

To help you improve your chance for survival, theres many items and guns lying around. You must remember where they are and try to make use of them. Even gasolines, propane gas, and even cannisters if possible. Which can for the very least, improve your survival.
Workshop
Arguably the best part of the game! If you already know how Workshop works, you can skip this section. If you dont, I would recommend reading this if you want more fun out of this game. Workshop you can find in Steam, so when looking up the game in workshop, you can find fun and interesting contents to play from that is made by other people. But be warned though, not everything you get will work and it might harm the game (such as crashing or freezing the game). Theres many to choose from but I am giving you 2 very fun ones (not that the others isnt fun, but you can still try it out and see how it goes). Remember, Be careful when downloading stuff, it might cause the game to be unstable which causes crash/freeze. Forcing you to exit the game.

Note: They are free to download in Steam, you just click Subscribe and it will download.

Skins:

Fun part of the games, you just find a model for your character and subscribe. Unfortunately in some skin mods they dont have voice packs, so for instance if you have Goku skin from Dragon Ball Z for Ellis, it replaces the model for Ellis for Goku. But because theres no voice pack with it, you will still hear Ellis' voice from Goku. Plus everyone will refer to Goku as "Ellis" as well. Voice pack will replace lines for Ellis with Goku's (if theres a pack around, usually its seperate). Despite having the voice pack, Goku will still be referred as Ellis by other survivors and the status in game remains the same as usual. Be careful when downloading skins and/or voice packs because considering it involves replacing the model (or anything replacable in general), it can cause the game to crash/freeze if the download turns out to be unstabled. This can be prevented by testing it out one at a time, if you know what caused it, unsubscribe the content to uninstall. If that doesnt work, uninstall the game. Keep noted you can install other characters for zombies too, but again, subscribe with caution. If you want to avoid the risks, then dont download them at all.

Custom Maps:

This is the best part of the game, as it involves having more maps to explore, more maps to beat, and more stuff to do. This is perfect to play with friends as well whether its campaign, versus, scavenger, survival, etc.

This is less risky than skins because the only time the game actually crash/freeze, is if you select that map you installed. While skins and voice packs replaces the character. Subscribing to custom maps doesnt replacing anything, but rather add another. Think like having a new DLC map, but except its made by other people.

Others:

As said I will only give 2 examples which I already explained above. But there are many more you can find in workshops as well such as more mutation modes, scripts, etc.

Just remember to be careful what you getting and make sure you test them one at a time and not multiple at once, because then you might not know what caused it.

In my opinion, the less risky download of them all is maps, because again it only happens when you select that map you downloaded. Just have to avoid choosing that one to prevent the game to crash/freeze. Plus you can always unsubscribe/uninstall the map just like the rest if you dont want it, especially if you feel its giving you problems.
Strategy to win
In this content I will explain about different techniques on how to make progress. Keep noted that theres many more you can do but I'll give out as much as possible (and hopefully theres room in this content, otherwise I have to make a part 2 out of it).

Survivors:

As Bill would say in one of his quotes "Eyes and ears people, eyes and ears". Pretty much said it all, watch carefully and listen carefully. Any zombies gives away the noises, whether by their voices or footsteps. They are literally everywhere, from corners to rooftops, to just around the corner or around the door you just opened. Remember to shove them if you need distance (except Witch, Tank, and Charger, they cant be shoved away). So keep an eye out to prevent taking damage.

Shoving can save your life most of a time, and your team. Whether by zombies or special infecteds. Constant shoving will eventually kill them. Be warned, constant shoving will get you tired so dont overuse it. This can be used to stop a hunter or jockey jumping on you (sometimes requires to run back and shove to make it work). You can shove a smoker if he grabs you at close range (though only with guns, for some reason you cant with melee). If you do it quick enough, he will let go of you and he will be helpless, which you can kill him after that. Keep noted you can shove the special infected off your team, alot quicker than shooting so your team receives less damage and they will assist after being freed (again, except for Tank, Witch, and Charger).

When going across the death area, try to go one at a time and cover each other as one person goes across it. If cant, just wait till that person gets across. Because the special infecteds WILL try to knock you all down. If one dies (only way is charger, which is the main concern, the others can be redeemed by rescuing from the ledge), then all of you can rush out of there. Each special infecteds are usually spawn one (one charger, one smoker, one hunter, one boomer, etc.), so if that charger gets someone or misses, you guys are good to go. In Versus mode, you can force the enemy to spawn by being tricky. If successful, they will spawn and you will hear their voices, which gives away their position. Just dont get caught after they attempt to get you. Theres a time and place where you can go alone, but not too far from your team. This is one of them to bait the special infecteds and prevent your team getting killed, whether you successfully did this alive or dead, your team can progress through.

Despite that you must stay together to survive, theres such thing as too close. Give each other space, because the special infecteds can possibly try to wipe you all out. So its good to spread out a bit, but not too much. As long as you or your team have range on each other so you guys can shoot each other if caught by special infecteds, you are good to go.

Zombies:

Attacking together is always the best thing to do. One special infected gets one, then the other gets another, etc.

Note: Remember Boomers, Spitters, and Tank cant catch a survivor. For Tank, he can focus on other survivors or defend the captive survivor from being rescued. Boomers and Spitters can act out as support for their zombie team to give off extra damage. Boomers can possibly cover their team by vomiting the rescuers. The vomit can blind them and the zombies will get in their way as well. In the other hand, you can vomit the captive survivor, and the survivor will helplessly take damage from both the special infected that was captured and the zombies if many gathered, which can potentially kill them in seconds.

Make use of the zombies, dont go off dying alone or dying without giving any damage. Do something that makes it harder for them to progress.

Setups are always good, and remember not to expect which zombie to be because its chosen random. Whoever you are, make use of them somehow. The game wont let you choose whoever you want. Example for setups are smoker and charger near the death area, one pulls a survivor near it, charger charge that survivor to their death. Another example, if one special infected caught one survivor, the other covers that special infected and prevent the other survivor from rescuing.

I said this before in previous section, but dont attack alone unless necessary. Teamwork is key. If theres a way to kill them alone or have them on the ledge then do it. Because they would have to waste time saving someone. Plus, you can make the survivors fall and take fall damage too, so theres a plus there. Especially restarting on going through obstacles, preventing from making progress. There are some exceptions when going off alone, the important thing is making use of that plan.
What you shouldnt do
In this section it will tell you what you shouldnt do, keep noted that this applies to any mode. This game is about teamwork, you must do something helpful that will make everything easier for you and others to survive. This is what you shouldnt do.

Healing too early, remember you only die if your health reaches 0 while you are down or you were down 3 times. If you are black and white, heal immediately. Sometimes its risky to wait to heal because no telling when special infecteds will kill you. Some can even kill you before you get a chance to heal. Which is important to know the time and place to heal. If you heal early, you not only get not much of health from healing, but you lose your healing object as well. Use them wisely!

Wander off alone, especially in versus. You are just helping your enemy team find a way to win. Stick together to reduce the risks.

Leaving your team behind, similar to wander off alone but know that for each team loss makes it harder for your team to win. Theres also some scenarios where you jump off together with your team, if one gets caught by special infected and theres no other way to save your team, you MUST leave your team behind. If theres a way to reach your team and save them, do it. If not, you have to keep pushing forward. If your team is idle (mainly versus/scavenger mode, campaign they can be automatically controlled by a bot if afk too long), you better off just to kick them out before they make things harder. Better than leaving them behind.

Shooting your team. Friendly fire is on, watch your shots. Intentional friendly fire can cause your team to vote kick you. This also can happen with constant accidental friendly fire in campaign in higher difficulty. Best lesson is not to shoot too carelessly and watch where you are aiming.

Using grenades on something unnecessary. Remember that saving them for important part is best thing you can do for you and your team. Such as horde run, whether by helping someone get a drink or turning off the alarm. You can use grenades to cover you and your team and make progress quicker. An example of using grenades unnecessary such as using pipe bomb on bunch of zombies thats just standing there, when you can just shoot them all, using pipe bomb on random horde battle is also pointless because again you can kill them all which the horde battle will eventually die out. Just find a place to hold out. All this applies with puke bomb, especially if you add a molotov with puke bomb on that scenario. This also includes using molotov alone at some point. Best advice is use them VERY wisely! Using a molotov on a tank will always be useful, alongside on some areas to cover from being flanked during a horde run (such as getting chased from a horde from behind, using a molotov from the back will hold them off and you wont have to worry about back side.

Using puke bombs while you or your team gets biled on. I know I said this in the past section but take this as a strong reminder. The zombies WILL ignore and chase down the victim that was biled. Never use it on a tank or witch, it will eventually wear out and then both the zombies and witch and/or tank will chase you down. Pretty much leads to backfire. Not only the grenades you used in some scenarios would be useless but a waste of a grenade as well.

Sticking around the death area too long, you are giving the infected team a chance to win by making you or your team fall. Which will make it harder for your team to progress and make tough decisions. When going across the death area, do it with caution but get out of there soon as you can before they find a way to win. As survivor, you must understand the scenarios that can potentially harm your team and make it hard to win. And considering reviving your team (especially helping them up) has a meter, you need cover and make sure you and your team isnt next in line when other special infecteds arrive to make you fall.

Jumping into your team's shot. Theres always a scenario where a team jumps into your shots and cause a accidental friendly fire. Now when you run past your team thats currently shooting, you must be careful to not get in the way. It would also annoy your team if you jump into their shots constantly. Usually the best advice is dont get in the way suddenly, you can also always run around them (where they are not shooting) to prevent it from happening.

Zombies

Attacking alone, one of the worse things to ever pull off in Versus or Scavenger. Dont EVER attack alone unless theres a reason (such as death charge for charger, jockey to fall off places with a survivor, etc.). Otherwise, you are best off attacking together. Find a position for both you and your team, spawn and attack together. Understand what your team is trying to do and vice versa. Only exception to attack alone if theres some sort of opportunity, such as a survivor wander off alone. NEVER attack one at a time, easier for survivors to just kill them all and move on. Attacking altogether will give them a hard time to decide who to save.

Clawing your own team, despite that its not really a big deal and doesnt do alot of damage. Theres a time and place where you should be careful and not claw your team. Because if theres a situation where your team took alot of hits to take one survivor and succeed. It is possible to actually kill your own team by a simple claw, which can possibly ruin everything your team tried to do. As Tank, a single punch can kill your team (two hits with charger). NEVER punch your team if the match still goes on, unless the match ends (showing results), you can do whatever you want. But if the match goes on, let your team handle it and focus on the other survivors who are still alive. Punching a survivor that got caught by a special infected will free them, which is not smart to do. This also kills your team too in the process in some cases (its possible for smokers to not get killed if grabbed a survivor from a distance, but the survivor can be freed with tank's punch (which again, not useful and unnecessary (unless he's the last one alive, doesnt matter but still recommend you dont since its possible for a survivor to get away after that))).

Controlling the Tank carelessly. As Tank, he can potentially cause massive damage (and possibly kill/incap a survivor) if used him properly. Failure to use him properly will make it harder to win because all the survivors needs to do is keep their distance and shoot the tank, molotov will make it easier for them to kill a Tank. Tank is chosen random, and whoever is Tank is counted on to get the job done, if anything do great amount of damage so the infected teams can finish it off. Tank has rock throw which is useful if you need distance, making harder for others to throw molotov at you. Simply charging at the survivors is not smart, because they are faster than the tank at green health. Yellow health they run about the same speed as the Tank. While red health the tank moves faster than the survivor. If a tank gets caught by the molotov or any flammable objects (except incendiary ammo, it cools off itself eventually, not permanent), then the tank must charge at the survivors and make use of the damage. Its smart to charge at them together with your team and/or the hordes together, better chance for you to incap one. Especially with boomer and/or spitter to assist the tank. Charging alone is not smart, unless you found a heavy object to punch at the survivors which will instantly down them if they get hit by that heavy object.

When getting chased by a survivor as special infected, dont run at the direction where your team is hiding. This can potentially lead them to be discovered and killed. This pretty much can lead to potential double kill (more if theres more hiding there) and ruined it. Unless theres no other way, you may try it but if you know you are gonna die or get discovered then dont go there because it can get your team killed.
General tips and Conclusion.
TL;DR?

Here are the smaller and more detailed tips I can give to help you give a quick read on what you need to know so you can just get on and play.

Survivors:

Sticking together is the key to survival. Be careful of friendly fires and make sure no one is left behind. Be careful when jumping off areas where there is no return. If someone is caught and theres no chance to rescue, you have to leave them.

Medkits and pills, use them wisely. Flashlights has unlimited batteries so no concerns for that. But if theres a witch, please try to turn off the flashlight and more of all dont trigger the witch unless prepared.

In Versus mode, be aware of the enemy's plans. Dont ever go alone because they might try to get you. Be careful when seperating from your team.

When fighting a Tank, keep your distance from heavy objects a tank can punch. You will be instantly down if you are hit by one. More of all, keep your distance from a tank. You are faster than the tank when you are at green health, but doesnt mean he cant cut you off when making turns and make sure nothing slows you down.

Beware of any areas that can kill you, dont let any special infecteds take you there. If you have a feeling they may be around, approach with caution.

While your team is getting revived, you MUST give cover. If a downed survivor gets hit, it will reset. Hold them off until your team member is revived. You dont have to worry if a bot revives a player, as it wont effect the meter. But a player reviving a bot is a different story.

Dont pay too much attention to the special infecteds, sometimes they seek attention as a way of distracting you from progressing. Sometimes its wise to leave them and press on. Chasing them will also waste time depending how far they are.

Holding the shooting or use button with some items (left click, mouse1) while holding some items (like medkits, defibs, or even filling up something with gas can) will have a meter. You must hold it until it fills up to be completed. You can also do that with grenades to prepare the throw (the grenades will not blow up on you, hold on as long as you want, switch weapons to cancel and release the button to throw).

Zombies:

Working together is the key to victory. Make sure all of your team approaches the survivors and provide cover if possible. Killing a survivor WILL make it harder for them to survive and easy for you to win. They also earn less points.

The best thing to do when working together is make sure if one survivor is caught by special infected, the other backs their team up by getting the other who is trying to save them. Ganging up a lonely survivor will make things more easier for them to die, but make sure to give cover or else they will rescue them.

Clawing a downed survivor while being revived will reset the meter, which will be harder for them to revive someone. Doing so will give more time for them to revive which means more time for your team to spawn (if they died). This is much effective with spitter and boomer because spitter will drop acid when dying and boomer can blow up on a down survivor, covering them with boomer bile. Both can claw the downed survivor too.

Clawing a survivor who is being revived by a bot is useless, because the bot will ignore and keep reviving. Only players would ever get their revive meter resetted. Do NOT attack the players who are rescuing the survivors, you must claw the downed survivors in order to get it to reset. Otherwise it wont count and they will continue to revive. That is unless they are really that injured, thats a different story.

Depending on the situation, death charging or taking the survivor at the ledge alone is risky because you can likely die or mess up without any help. Pretty much like flip a coin, you either get someone and cause the enemy team to struggle more especially when earning less points or you die and they can press on easier with more points.

Attacking an unaware survivor is more easier, dont get spotted or make too many noises.

Dont spawn if needed to, because if you spawn early the special infecteds tend to give away noises (growl, scream, etc.).

Short info on Special Infecteds

Hunters can high pounce which gives extra damage, best to attack from rooftops and probably around the corner too. Great offense and support, can pounce one if the survivor attempts to save his team from yours.

Smokers are good above buildings or any places with cover to make a easy getaway. Good offense but best at support because if you grab one while that survivor attempts to save their team, it can give off better result.

Boomers are best around corners, rooftops are a bit risky if they are aware. Spawn at a last second because they make alot of noises, which survivors will be unaware if you do that. Spawning too soon will cause them to be aware and move with caution, risking your chance to get them. Boomers are also good as supporters if you want extra damage on a survivor your team caught like puking and clawing.

Jockeys can be best as a attacker or supporter. Whether you want to jump on one and fall down in the area with one or cover one of your team that caught the survivor, remember to keep the survivor you caught away from the other. Because they can shoot after they are down, including you so you will have to make a run for it after you get one down. This is also dangerous if you down one next to your team, they will shoot your team and possibly save the survivor (varies on health).

Chargers are best to knock the survivor down to their death, a suicide charge with no chance for survivors to survive unless they kill the charger very quickly. Best for offense, but it is possible to use for support if your team caught a survivor. Can be used as a setup. Such as one grab the survivor with smoker near the death area, and charger charge that survivor that was caught by a smoker to their death. It should be noted that Chargers has the most health out of every playable special infecteds beside Tank, so they can take alot of hits!

Spitters are worse at offense, but best at support depending on the angle and position you are in. Despite being the worse its possible to make damage out of her alone. Such as if the survivors camp in the small closet when theres many hordes. You can spit in that closet that covers the whole area, forcing the survivors to fight their way through to escape from the spit by leaving the closet. They are best as support simply because if your team caught a survivor, you can spit at them for extra damage, this includes claw too. Reason I said depending on angle and position is that if you spawn somewhere far from your team, and your team caught one. You cant back them up if you are too far. Stay close to your team.

As a Tank, if theres a open field it is not wise to charge at them without any backups. If you must attack, find a place to hide and throw rocks (suggesting from rooftops to make it difficult for them to throw molotovs). Landing hits resets the meter. Punching them from around the corner is wise. Watch for any flammable objects, otherwise you would have to charge at them since you will burn until death. Unless theres any shallow water, go there to cool off.

Conclusion:

Left 4 Dead 2 is game that involves heavily on teamwork. Without teamwork, everyone will die. This is important to know this kind of stuff when playing campaign whether on high difficulty or playing versus (this also applies as zombies as you need to work together). When playing whether on high difficulty or versus, everything will be challenging. And if you dont reach your team's expectation, you'll find yourself about to be kicked out of the game.

The best way to prevent being kicked, know how the game works. Then after you learn the levels and how to play properly, then thats when you go for higher stuff. And when you are truly skillful, you'll be alot useful to the team.

Also a side note: If I dont have a valid reason why my post sucks, then clearly you will be ignored and I wouldnt care so.....

Aside from that, anyone that believes my guide HELPS, I'm really glad it helps.

And a LITTLE something, if there is REALLY a problem with my grammar, point it out and I'll look into it. Which section and which area, no promises on fixing it all because if I feel its not that bad, i'm leaving it alone. Rather than calling me "cringey" or a 2 year old, which was unnecessary.

Anyways, enjoy the guide. :)

Hey guys! Sorry for the late respond, the keyboard on my laptop wasnt working. So anyways let me break it down.

Oxygen tank is canister. A canister is a large metal pipe that holds gas inside. Feel free to look it up, I even looked it up myself after seeing my "flaw" about calling it a oxygen tank. Plus I remember some people in game calling it that.

As for my grammar. Listen, my grammar isnt perfect. Not everyone's grammar is perfect. If you are gonna complain about grammar, feel free to find a guide somehow else with a "perfect grammar" to your needs. I am just trying to help everyone here. Way I see it, you should at LEAST be able to understand what I am talking about. If not, all I can is sorry. I'm not perfect with my grammar. Again, feel free to find somewhere else. I'm keeping my post, and way I see it from the comment section, others are thankful for it. So, its staying.
