Pre-searing Ascalon Collector Armors
Check out the original guide on GameBanana![gamebanana.com]

This section will feature charts that provide you with the names of each Pre-Searing collector that carries pieces of the armor set and what is required to obtain said armor pieces. Each class is separated into its own chart. Since this guide is specific to the base Guild Wars campaign, this will not include any of the classes added in Factions or Nightfall. If you have created Factions or Nightfall characters, this area is entirely inaccessible through normal means.

Once you have looked at the charts, the bottom section of this guide will tell you where to locate them on the map.

It should be noted that by no means is it necessary to the overall game to complete these sets. There isn't a huge benefit to having this unless you plan on spending a long period of time in Pre-Searing Ascalon (which a lot of people do).

This was originally written for GameBanana, the original (and very outdated) version can be found here[gamebanana.com]. I do not recommend following the old guide as it is less detailed and missing certain pieces of info. This one is a vast improvement overall.

Pre-searing Ascalon Collector Locations
This part of the guide requires you to have traveled to all four towns in Pre-searing Ascalon (Ascalon City, Ashford Abbey, The Barradin Estate, and Fort Ranik). This happens naturally through questing, but if you want to skip ahead a bit, you can follow the maps I've provided to get an idea of where each location is on the map.

Some collectors show up in more than one location, so pay attention to the specific zones that are listed. Some sets also have less gear than others, so you may have a choice of collectors to visit if one is harder to get to than the other.
Lakeside County
  • Jacobs - Go to Ashford Abbey and go through the exit that takes you to Lakeside County. There should be two trails; one leads straight forward towards Ascalon City and the other goes off the left towards Wizard's Folly. Take the trail that goes straight, towards Ascalon City. Run down this trail until you see two people standing by a wagon; the bigger guy with the beard is Jacobs.

  • Kaylee - Go to Ashford Abbey and go through the exit that takes you to Lakeside County. There should be two trails; one leads straight forward towards Ascalon City and the other goes off the left towards Wizard's Folly. Take the trail that goes straight, towards Ascalon City. Run down this trail until you come to a fork in the road, one road goes to Ascalon City and the other goes to the right. Take the right path until you come to a bridge, when you see this bridge, go over it and follow that road all the way until you see the portal to Regent Valley, but do not go through the portal. Just before the portal, off to the right should be Kaylee.

Wizard's Folly
  • Savich - Go to Foible's Fair and go through the portal exit. Once you've loaded everything and have entered into Wizard's Folly, you will be at a fork in the road, one road goes left into a grass covered valley and to the right is a road into the snowy mountains. Go up the right path and you will immediately see a guard, a collector, and a resurrection shrine in front of you. That collector that you see there is Savich.

  • Mindle - Go to Foible's Fair and go through the portal exit. Once you've loaded everything and have entered into Wizard's Folly, you will be at a fork in the road, one road goes left into a grass covered valley and to the right is a road into the snowy mountains. Take the road to the left into the grass covered valley. This will be a fairly long run compared to the other collectors, so pay close attention to both these directions and the map provided below. Once you pass the two stone elementals, the mountains will begin to curve to the right, hug that wall to avoid any unnecessary enemy aggro. Follow the mountains up until you come up to a creek filled with bandits, bears, and river skales. When you see this creek, kill whatever gets in your way and go down the creek until you see a small town on the other side. Go into this town and keep running through until you see another creek. On the right side of this town, there should be a house near the river, in front of this house should be Mindle.
Fort Ranik & Regent Valley
  • Hatcher (Fort Ranik) - Go to Fort Ranik, Hatcher should be towards the back of Fort Ranik, he is standing by large double doors.

  • Varis (Fort Ranik) - Go to Fort Ranik, Varis should be towards the front of the town, to the left of the portal (if facing towards the portal) to Regent Valley.

  • Hatcher (Regent Valley) - Go to Fort Ranik and leave town through the exit portal. When you have finished loading, there should be a dirt road in front of you, follow that road and take a right when it splits. Keep following the road, killing whatever attacks you, and when you reach a few little stone walls and a sign for Lakeside County, go straight (off the road) towards the hill in front of you, it goes a little off to the right. When you reach the top of this hill, turn around and go straight along here until you see a hill going down towards two black bears and two tree spiders (kill them if you want). Now take a right here and keep going in this direction, you should come across six people, Dannel, Bruse, Benton, Neihl, Senssa, and Hatcher, the collector that you're looking for.

  • Varis (Regent Valley) - Go to Fort Ranik and leave town through the exit portal. When you have finished loading, there should be a dirt road in front of you, follow that road and take a right when it splits. Keep following the road, killing whatever attacks you, and take a right when you come across a few little stone walls and a sign for Lakeside County. Keep following this road and cross the bridge across the river and keep following that road. You will come to another bridge, cross it and follow the road up until you see a hill on the left side of the road that you are able to run up; there are normally three or four bandits on this hill. After you go up this little hill, there should be another hill if you run straight for a few feet and go around the corner on the left. Go up that hill and you should see Varis waiting for you at the top and Ivor Trueshot standing a few feet away from him.

  • Professor Yakkington - Go to Fort Ranik and exit to Regent Valley. Once you've loaded in, you will follow the dirt path until you find yourself at the bottom of the arches outside the town. Take a hard right before you pass through the arches and take out whatever skales are in the way and continue this way until you go down the small hill and turn to the right. Continue down this way, again taking out whatever skales are in the way, and you will cross a small creek. Instead of following the creek, stick to the right and you'll pass through a bunch of brush - hidden behind this brush will be a hidden cave. Pass through here and you will find Yakkington, there are no enemies in this area.
The Catacombs
  • Gwynn - Go to Ashford Abbey and go through the portal exit that leads to the catacombs. Gwynn should be right at the top of the stairs right in front of you.

  • Karleen - Go to the Barradin Estate and leave town through the exit portal. Once outside, go over the bridge on the right and take another right once you go over that bridge and run across this field and through the small area between the cliff and the stone railing that is parallel to the river. Keep following this stone railing until you see a bridge that goes over the river. Go over this bridge and off to the left should be the back entrance to the Catacombs. Go through that portal and Karleen should be right around the corner. Do not worry about aggro here, the gargoyles only attack you if you attack them.
