Intro
Please note that my guide has been updated for the coming updated version of the game and some enemies won't have GRID symbols yet or might only be in the preview branch of the game

The GRID is a fun, new, story-like gamemode new in Waves². it introduces quite a few new mechanics and is REALLY fun. I'll tell you how to play it here.
Navigating the GRID
Loadouts

Before you get into The GRID, you can click this button to change your loadout. Instead of unlocking things through the loadout editor, you have to go to file manager, and then Repository to buy programs. you buy programs with reputation from uploading files (shown later). If you have any files, make sure all the files you want to upload are ticked, and then click the upload button in the bottom-right corner. If you want to buy things, do the exact same. After you buy a thing, it will appear in the loadout editor, and in the program folder. However, if you want more upgrade points, you have to collect enough reputation to level up by clicking on the bar at the top if the main screen. but, to distribute more points, you have to buy upgraded versions of your things (programs) from the repository. (Don't forget to click 'commit changes' before you leave the loadout screen).

Entering networks/Devices

This is a network. If it is highlighted in red, you have completely taken over it, no need to go there. If it is not, then it has not been taken over yet. Click on a network and then 'Network Graph' in the corner to enter the network.

Once you have done that, you will see something like this. These nodes are devices. Some are connectors and some are devices with files on them. If it is highlighted in red, it has been taken over, if it has a lock symbol, you need to take over a nearby node to access it. Otherwise, click 'Play' in the corner to enter the level.
Basic GRID Gameplay
GRID gameplay is basically the same as arcade. Kill enemies, gets more difficult as you go, but there is a bigger goal than getting as many points as possible.

Nodes & Files

This is a node, taking control of these is your main goal. To take control of a node, shoot it until it completely sinks into the ground, then you need to 'hold the point' until you take control. (There is a circular loading bar indicating how long you need to hold it for). However, if you leave the 'point' for longer than 10 seconds then it will dissapear and you will have to redo everything. Once you take over all nodes in the arena, all enemies and files will be removed, and you can exit the arena through the center (Press 'E' on keyboard and 'A' on controller while in the point). This area will now be marked as completed, and other devices unlocked.

This is a file, it works much in the same way to nodes, except you don't need to download it to complete a level. Files are downloaded and then (using 'File manager' in the main GRID menu and clicking 'Upload All' in both Archives & Downloads) uploaded to the internet for reputation. Which can be spent on loaduts. However, if you take control of the area before downloading the files, they will dissapear and you can never get them back.
Enemy Types & Symbols

This here is a space for enemy symbols, indicating what kinds of enemies will be in this network. There is a table for this below.

Conclusion + Other Guides
