The gameplay is mostly going to be a lot of similar car repair jobs in the first few hours, which can get boring, and I'd suggest taking the time for reading guides is beneficial.
Just a thought, as yo were talking about randomness: incoming jobs are always 100% random. Don't remember exactly, if the cars in the jobpool will be retained after a restart, but from your description, it doesn't seem so. Jobs accepted will definitely be saved, so you don't have other cars in garage upon loading a game. ;-)
Another randomness will be the colour of the car (don't know, if you bother) as well as the faultiness of the parts. It may range from ~35% to 90%. Easy to spot faulty parts in the latter car! :-D
