Metroidvanias always require a gross amount of money to buy gear. This is a cheap and dirty trick to get a ridiculous amount of cash at any point in the game.

The Process
For this trick you're going to need Spring of the Sky unlocked, Faeries unlocked, and the Helmet (I think). The Bracelet that lets you one-shot pots isn't required but helps a lot late-game

  • Once you have faeries unlocked, head to Spring of the Sky and go east until you hit the elevators
  • Each faerie has a specific star pattern. You want the green Itemfind fairy, her star-pattern is 4 stars with 2 of them going in opposite directions. Its very distinct
  • With IF Fairy, head back to the surface and start breaking pots. Each pot will drop 10-20 gold, and enemies will sometimes drop 5 gold
  • My usual path is the beginning pot, then the pot one-room west. This is generall faster once you have the bracelet that lets you insta break pots
  • Another good path is at the chamber of extinction. From the Grail Tablet, head up one room and left one room. In the top-right portion of this room are 4 breakable blocks that give mad cash when broken. These blocks are affected by the Bracelet so it becomes a much more viable mid/late-game option. Thanks to Hidden Distance for this info
  • For the more experienced folk, There's gold-chests hidden at the waterfall, the Life Seal near the blue giant, and some hidden ones in Gate of Guidance. Slapping theses open can net you anywhere between 200-500 gold
  • For the hardcore late-game needy folk, IF fairy + the bosses at Dimensional Corridor are great for making extreme amounts of cash. This requires a lot of skill though to slay bosses in the IF timeframe and you absolutely cannot have the dimensional stabilizer (?) item so the bosses can respawn. Credit for this goes to Sakako

What's the best way to farm for money early game before fairies? I also need a better place to farm for exp, I feel inefficient having to farm for exp every few minutes.

Something that should also be noted when using the Item Fairy:

- It multiplies the money found from Pots by 5. So if a pot is supposed to have 10 Coins the first time you break it, with an IF it will increase to 50.
This also applies to all Coin Chests. If you break open a Coin Chest with an Item Fairy around, it will also drop 5x as many Coins! a 30 Coin Chest will suddenly have 150 Coins, and if you bust open one of the 100 Coin Chests (Like the one on the Surface ot Temple of Moon) those chests with an Item Fairy will drop a whopping 500 Coins!

Sorry to double-post, but we don't seem to be able to edit comments here.

Anyway, another tip is if you don't want to wait for the Fairy Point to respawn, you can save the game, reset, and then load the save. The Fairy Point will be ready for another use.

It also helps to have the Gauntlet so your weapon swings faster and the Bracelet so you can smash pots (and the walls in the Chamber of Extinction) in one hit. With this combo, it's easy to go from nothing to 999G in one go using the Chamber of Extinction method.

Equip miracle.exe and capstar.exe when you touch a Fairy Point to always get a Item Fairy.

The best place to get max money is to get the item fairy and farm bricks in the chamber of extinction. There's this one fairy point right of the grail tablet and if you got up and to the left at the top right hand corner ofthe screen there will be bricks and the edge of the map. Hit the bricks and move past the map and come back and the bricks should have respawned allowing you to farm bricks till you're rich.

If you're in need of cash late-game, and you haven't gotten the Dimensional Key yet, you can farm the sub-bosses in the Dimensional Corridor , because you can't kill them for good until you get that item.

Probably goes without saying, but this trick is also helpful for getting item drops from enemies. I use that for flares mostly, never seem to have enough.
