The Sanity Meter
What is the Sanity Meter and why is it important?
The Sanity Meter is basically your health meter throughout the game. Once you're inside the house (Stage 2 Inside), you have to watch it from now on. Through the course of the story, you will either have gained Sanity or lose some Sanity. If your Sanity is completely depleted, then it's game over. On the bright side, the only reason to drain your Sanity completely is to get one of the eight endings and an achievement. The ending is called "Expelled" and the achievement is "Out of my House!"

Ways to gain Sanity:
The easiest and self-explanatory way to gain Sanity is to delve further within the game and story. A Big Flashing Black Eye means you gained Sanity.

Ways to lose Sanity:
Witnessing too many harmful events and turning around fast around [Wooden Mannequin]s can deplete your Sanity. If you want a quick way to deplete your Sanity, Stage 3-1 Living Quarters is the best place to do it.
Stage 1: Outside

The walkthrough will describe all different scenarios for different endings. It also describes all books picked up, all notes gained, all Sabot Maker's Ways, and all Intuitions. This walkthrough does NOT cover any events since they can cause damage and give you a possible game over. If you are only missing a couple of things, wondering where one thing is at, or want to find out all events for a specific stage, check the bottom of the guide for Complete List of Events, Endings, Books, Notes, Sabot Maker's Ways, Intuitions, and Achievements.

A note to your [Notebook] will be automatically added.
Go to your Inventory ("i") and click on [Notebook] to read.
Use [Empty Canteen] on [Brook].
Go to the [Pile of Rocks] (where the butterflies are flying) and search around for [Flat Pebble].
Search around [Pile of Rocks] for [Maple Leaves]. Pick up. Examine the ones on the ground. `Maple Leaves` no.1 Intuition unlocked.
Move [Flat Pebble] away. Pick up [Dirty Object].
Use [Dirty Object] on [Brook]. You now have [Gear].
Pick up [Pebble] (There are several lying on the ground).
Look for a [Wooden Branch] near the tree near the house. Pick up.
Go to [Main Door] and look above it for [Eye-shaped Notch].
Use [Pebble] on [Eye-shaped Notch]. Achievement unlocked.
Use [Wooden Branch] on [Gear Piece].
Use [Gear] on [Gear Piece]. (Or other way around).
Look for [Little Door] on the side of the stairs near the house.
Use [Folding Hunting Knife] on [Little String] (Will not work on Little Door). You now have [Little String].
Open [Little Door].
Use [Wooden Branch] on [Cracked Wall].
Use [Cigarette Lighter] on [Dry Branch] (No, you can't put it out).
Use [Little String] on [Broken Gear].
Use [Repaired Gear] on [Mechanism]. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Go back by the [Main Door] and Use [Little Boulder].

Noteable Achievements:
Jump in the house (Stage completed in less than 5 minutes)
It's dark here (Complete stage 1)
Vandal (When using [Pebble] on [Eye-shaped Notch].)

Use [Front Door].

Well, It's Pretty Late (Leave the house by going through [Front Door] in the room and get the "Good Decision" Ending.)

Stage 2.2: If you think curiosity has its perks...
Search the nearest shelf for a [Lamp]. Pick up.
Go to [Broken Table].
Use [Wooden Branch] on [Sharp Fragment].
Pick up [Sharp Fragment].
Go near [Old Saw]. Look for the book ["Lucien and Margherita"].
In Inventory, Go to [Documents] and Read ["Lucien and Margherita"].
~The Sabot Maker's Way: Curious~ is revealed.
Going near the [Stockroom Door] will have a new note added to your [Notebook].
Look for [Decrepit Boards].
Move [Decrepit Boards] until you reveal ["About Seals and their Usage"].
Pick up ["About Seals and their Usage"].
Read ["About Seals and their Usage"]. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Go to [Lit Stove]. Open [Stove Door]. Use [Full Canteen] on [Fire].
Pick up [Key] (where the [Fire] used to be). A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Go to the [Door], which is near the [Stockroom Door].
Use [Key] on [Door].
Use [Door].

Walk to your right until you see [Hook] and [Tool] on the wall. Pick up both.
Pick up [Hooked Blade] from [Heavy Knife Hilt]. Pick up [Axe].
Open [Drawer]. Pick up ["Alchemy and Thaumaturgy"].
Read ["Alchemy and Thaumaturgy"]. You will end up receiving [Electrum Dust]. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Pick up [Bone Hilt] nearby.
Use [Bone Hilt] on [Sharp Fragment]. (Or other way around). A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Pick up ["Far Away and Nearby Fairytales"].
Read ["Far Away and Nearby Fairytales"].
Use [Door to the Main Room].

Use [Folding Hunting Knife] on [A Heap of Tied Leaves]. You will receive five different leaves.
Open [Broken Door] which leads to the [Puddle] room.
Use [Axe] on [Soft Roots].
Use [Hook] on [Chain] (it's in the little window by where the [Soft Roots] used to be).
Use [Lamp] on [Hook].
Use [Cigarette Lighter] on [Lamp].
Use [Electrum Dust] on [Lamp].
Use [Wheel]. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Use [Cigarette Lighter] on [Ritual Blade].
Use [Incandescent Ritual Blade] on [Myself] on top of where [Soft Roots] used to be. After the voice scene, `Woods` Intuition unlocked, and a new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Use [Puddle] to make some dialogue pop up.
Use [Wooden Box] on [A Slot in the Wall].
Use [Wooden Box].
Go near [Door] (on the same side where the [Stove] and [Old Saw] is) and move mouse around for [Dark Barrier]. Use [Dark Barrier] to make some dialogue pop up. (Not mandatory. You can get to it later.)
Go near [Old Saw] and near the [Painting]s.
Use the middle [Painting]. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Wait around for the "Red Vision" Event to happen. (It randomly happens after any Event that goes on in the house. Rumbling Noise=Upcoming Event!)

ACHIEVMENT NOTICE!: If you have not received the "Just a Scratch" ending and achievement and want it, you must get the [Stockroom Door] to open and get rid of the [Dark Barrier] as fast as possible before the "Red Vision" event happens. Otherwise, you won't be able to.

*The Leaf Puzzle:*
Use [Bronze Leaf] on lady running in the forest.
Use [Golden Leaf] on Twins by the eye.
Use [White Leaf] on man laying down.
Go to the [Puddle] Room.
Use [Black Leaf] on Burning Lady. `Stake` Intuition unlocked.
Use [Silver Leaf] on lady walking away.

Completing the puzzle correctly will have `Anna Doesn't Want That` Intuition unlocked.
Pick up [Silver Leaf].
Pick up [Golden Leaf].
Open [Stockroom Door].
Pick up [Pestle Mortar] on table.
Pick up [Oil] on floor. (It's in between a jug and some boards.)
Use [Folding Hunting Knife] on the [Ring] which is on the [Wooden Mannequin]. `Wedding Ring` Intuition unlocked, as well as an achievement.
Examine (Right Click) on [Ring] to get another Intuition. `Name on Wedding Ring` Intuition unlocked.
Examine [Wooden Mannequin]. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Use [Oil] on [Oil Lamp].
Use [Cigarette Lighter] on [Full Oil Lamp].
Use [Golden Leaf] on [Mortar].
Use [Silver Leaf] on [Mortar with Golden Leaf]. (These two steps can be this way or the other.)
Use [Pestle] on [Mortar with Silver and Golden Leaves].
Use [Electrum Dust] on [Lit Oil Lamp]. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].

Stage 2-2.1: If you were able to get rid of the [Dark Barrier] before the "Red Vision" Event...
Use [Door] on the far-left side of the room.

Noteable Achievements:
Safe (Leave the house by going through [Door] in the Stockroom and get the "Just a Scratch" Ending.)

Stage 2-2.2: If you don't wish to leave...
Pick up [Iron Bar] at the end of the room.
Move out of the Stockroom and go back near the entrance. Look on the floor for a [Warehouse].
Use [Iron Bar] on [Padlock].
Pick up [Spare Parts for the Stove].
Use [Spare Parts for the Stove] on [Broken Stove].

Stage 2-2.3: If you want to have some good manners...
Go to [Front Door]. Use.

Noteable Achievements:
Good Manners (Fix the [Stove] without adding anything to it and leave the house.)

Stage 2-2.4: If you want to meddle in some more...
Use [Soft Roots] on [Repaired Stove].
Go back to the Stockroom and where the [Iron Bar] used to be.
Pick up [Pulsating Heart] nearby. (Now you see why I skipped that part...)
Use [Pulsating Heart] on [Repaired Stove].
Use [Cigarette Lighter] on [Repaired Stove]. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Walk to the back of the Stove Room until you see [Stairs to the Attic]. Use.

Noticeable Achievements:
First Take (Solve the leaves puzzle without making mistakes.)
I'll Take This Back (Remove the [Ring] from the [Wooden Mannequin].)

NOTICE: If you haven't received the "So Soon?" Ending or Achievement, save right now and go through the [Barred Door]! Then, resume from the save point.

Right when entering the area, look behind you on a small table for ["Rituals of our Lady"]. Pick up.
Read ["Rituals of our Lady"]. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Walking around in the room will have an Intuition unlocked. `Statue` Intuition unlocked.
Go to the back of the room near the [Mirror] and look for [Wardrobe]. Open [Wardrobe].
Pick up ["About Masks"].
Read ["About Masks"].
Walk around until you receive a "Fade to Black" event, where the background fades to black and fades back to normal, changing the whole room. This is necessary for a ~Sabot Maker's Way~ to be revealed later on in the game. Being damaged by the Wooden Mannequin after all scenes and Intuitions gained on this stage will have a good chance for it to change.
Pick up [Face of Truth].
Pick up [Mask of Assassin].
Go back to the hallway and go through [Door to Living Quarters].

Noticeable Achievements:

WARNING!: This room has many harmful events! It's best to save often if you're not damaged. If you did not received the "Expelled" ending or Achievement, this is a great place to get your health down a lot!

Go down the second hallway into the dining room.
Search the shelf and near the [Mannequin] for a [Red Candle]. Pick up.
Search inside the [Cradle] nearby for a [Child's Bonnet]. Pick up.
Pick up [Maple Leaves]. `Maple Leaves` no. 2 Intuition unlocked.
Use `Maple Leaves` no. 1 Intuition and `Maple Leaves` no. 2 Intuition together. `Cradles and Tomb` Intuition unlocked.
Use [Child's Bonnet]. You will receive [Child's Hair].
Examine both [Cradle]s. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Pick up [Chimney Shovel] by the [Fire].
Pick up [Letter] on the table. Examine (Right Click) on [Letter]. `Homicidal Sabot Maker?` Intuition unlocked. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].

Go back to the hallway and open [Damaged Door].

Look on [Bed] for ["Of Love and Connected Rituals"]. Pick up.

Go to the [Door] that is next to the [Damaged Door].
Use [Letter] on [Door].
Use [Hanger] on [Lock].
Pick up [Letter]. You will receive the [2nd Room Key] along with it.
Use [Letter].
Use [2nd Room Key] on [Lock]. You will be healed a bit.
Open [Door].
Pick up [Whetstone] to your left.
Pick up [Jug].
Pick up [Seed Bag] and ["The Beauty She Shines Of"] in the trunk at the end of the [Bed].
Read ["The Beauty She Shines Of"]. `Hate Towards Anna` and `Copper Age` Intuitions unlocked. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Search the nearby shelf for ["The Invisible World"].
Read ["The Invisible World"].
Open [Wardrobe] (In the same room) and search for [Black Dress]. Pick up.
Use [Mask of the Assassin] on [Myself] (While you're in the room) to get an Intuition. `Me as the Sabot Maker` Intuition unlocked.
Use `Stake` Intuition on `Hate Towards Anna` Intuition. `Paintings in the Niches` Intuition unlocked.

Go against the wall and you will see [Left Hand], [Right Hand], and [Stone Head].
Examining [Left Hand] will heal you.
Use [Red Pearl] on [Right Hand]. You will be healed.
Use [Ring] on [Left Hand]. You will be healed, plus achievement unlocked.
Use the bloody [Cinders] on [Stone Head]. You will be healed.
Use [Face of Truth]. You don't need to keep it on if you don't want to.
Use [Temple Door].

Look to the nearest bench on the right for the book ["Legends"]. Pick up.
Read ["Legends"]. `Sculptor's Tale` Intuition unlocked.
Use `Woods` Intuition on `Sculptor's Tale` Intuition. `Encounter in the Woods` Intuition unlocked.
Use `Name on Ring` Intuition on `I Want to Stay` Intuition. `Married` Intuition unlocked.
Use `Wedding Ring` Intuition on `Married` Intuition. `What Does it Mean?` Intuition unlocked.
Use `Statue` on `Sculptor's Tale` Intuition. `The Statue and I` Intuition unlocked.
Use [Altar] (slightly above the [Offering Bowl].) ~The Sabot Maker's Way: Prayer~ is revealed.
Go to the left and in the back and look for [Lever]. Use.
Go in the Northwest of the room and Pick up [Priest's Letter]. Use it. `Priest's Letter` Intuition unlocked.
Use `Sculptor's Tale` Intuition on `Priest's Letter` Intuition. `Letter and Storybook` Intuition unlocked.
Use [Face of Truth] on [Myself]. Pick up [Grollo] above the [Altar]. (You should be able to pick it up if there is moonlight shining from the ceiling. If not, make sure the [Hatch] in the Living Quarters is open. Refer to Stage 3-1.)
Go upstairs to [To the Workshop]. Use.
Stage 4-1: The Holy Sap

Go back to where the [Deformed Sapling] is and Use [Mask of Assassin] on [Myself].
Use [Grollo] on [Wound]. It becomes [Blood-filled Bowl].
Go back to [Chair] and use [Mask on Black Dress] on it. `Threatening` Intuition unlocked.
Use `Hate Towards Anna` Intuition on `Threatening` Intuition. `Medieval` Intuition unlocked.
Use `Copper Age` Intuition on `Medieval` Intuition. `Thousands of Years` Intuition unlocked.
All 33 Intuitions are now unlocked, but you won't get the achievement until you get an ending. If you want the achievement real fast, refer to Stage 5.1.
Use [Blood-filled Bowl] on [Mourning Dress with Mask].
Examine [The Goddess Reborn] (which is the activated [Symbol of the Goddess].)
After the scene is over, you should see a [Wooden Mannequin] holding out [Anna's Key]. Pick up. Achievement unlocked.

IF YOU PROCEED ANY FURTHER, YOU CANNOT COMBINE INTUITIONS ANYMORE!

Stage 4-1.1 If there was a door on the wall in Living Quarters...:
Go to [Door to Living Quarters]. Use.
Go into the second bedroom and Use [2nd Room Key] on [Lock]. ~The Sabot Maker's Way: Alone~ is revealed.
Use [Anna's Key] on [Door on Wall]. ~The Sabot Maker's Way: Through~ is revealed.

Stage 4-1.2 If you did not wait for the attic to change before entering Living Quarters...:
Go to [Door on the Floor] (it's around the light pillars), and Use [Anna's Key] on it.

Noteable Achievements:
Honey, Have You Seen My Keys? (Pick up Anna's Key)
Where are you? (Complete fourth stage.)
Stage 5: Grotto

The puzzle you see here is basically following the cave painting on the wall to the right. For quick access to the two endings, it's RECOMMENDED to SAVE NOW!

Once entering, a new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Go to the middle mannequin on the wall and Use [Button].
Use same [Button] again.
From facing the middle mannequin, go to the mannequin on the left and Use [Button].
Go to the right-most mannequin and Use [Button]. Keep using it until you hear something snap.
Go back to the middle mannequin and you'll notice [Mask of the Goddess]. Pick up.
The actions you do will depict your ending.

Stage 5.1 Desperate:
Use [Mask of the Goddess] on [Myself].
~The Sabot Maker's Way: Trapped~ is revealed.
Game ends. "Sabot Maker's Way" Ending unlocked as well as achievement.

Noteable Achievements:
Naive (Wear the [Mask of the Goddess] in the Grotto and get 'Sabot Maker's Way' Ending)
Scientific Method (Unlock all 33 Intuitions. Unlocked along with "Shy" Achievement.)
Shy (Reach any ending when you unlocked all 33 Intuitions.)
The Way of the Saboutier (Reveal all 5 ~The Sabot Maker's Ways~.)

Stage 5.2 Anna, My Love....:
Use [Mask of the Goddess] on [Celebrant]. A path will be revealed. If you didn't complete everything, you will be stopped and receive `Inadequate` ending and an achievement.
Walk until you see a fork in the road and look on the ground in between the small candles for [Contract]. Pick up.
Read [Contract].
Go right of where the [Contract] was and continue along the way to the dead end for a scene.
Go back from that way and take the first turn on the right. Follow the trail.
Use [Axe] on [Assassin]. Achievement unlocked. A new note will be added to your [Notebook].
Go back to the way you came and you'll notice there is a tunnel with a trail of candles. Go through it.
Before approaching anymore, look on the ground in the trail for [Newspaper Page]. Pick up.
Read [Newspaper Page].
Continue the trail. If you have made it this far, you will get "The Whole Truth" Ending (All Intuitions combined) or "The Truth" Ending (Enough Intuitions combined to make it far).

Noteable Achievements:

What are Events?
You hear that rumbling? Yeah you better expect something to happen. That means an Event is about to happen!

Why do I need them all?
If you want 100% in the game, you really need to find all 16 events. Some events can cause possible damage to your Sanity meter. Those that cause possible damage are marked.

Stage 2 Inside:
1. Frantic footsteps. Ends by going by the [Stockroom Door]. (Damage)
2. A puff of dust goes into your face when you turn around.
3. Burning mannequin near [Stove].

Stage 2-1 Artisan Room:

4. Mannequins worshipping to the wall. (Damage)

Stage 3 Attic:
5. Breathing behind you and turning around.
6. Pile of rocks on floor near the [Barred Door] and [Symbol of the Goddess].

Stage 3-1 Living Quarters:
7. Hearing a painful noise in the room with the Masked Mannequin.
8. Fireplace spreading through the room. (Damage)
9. Black ghost (buzzing noises) near the [Door to the Attic].

Stage 3-3 Eye See You:
10. Hands in the [Stove]. Walking to it. (You have to anyway in order to leave the room.) (Damage)
11. While the [Stockroom Door] is closed, you will hear some screeching noises. Open it. Arms in a big bush.
12. A dark portal appears and envelops you. (Damage)
13. Black figures circle you and close in. (This is somewhat bugged. If you hear a gasp and fade to white, then it still counts.)
14. Writing on the wall on the right of the puddle room.

Stage 3-4 Artisan Room Revisited:
15. While using the [Face of Truth], the head and hands on the wall change. (Damage)
