In the vein of several existing puzzles, refine alchemical slag into quintessence and gold. If there's actually some sort of contest here as I have seen in the flavor for the other puzzles, I would like to put this forward as a trial for it.

Also, the canonical solution was 720/3115(!)/108. I doubt it's hard to beat.

I didn't even bother trying to have any semblance of balance in my solution. I just built a stack of refiners upwards from copper.

Hey Netpatham, I'm the guy who made the four "Elevation of Refuse" puzzles that you're likely thinking of. I like to write stories with in the descriptions of puzzles that I make, and that contest you've probably read about in those four puzzles is one of those stories.

Nice puzzle, by the way. Ratios on the gold are a little tricky, though.
