Forward & Quick Tips
Here are some quick tips for each character in ODW:

Each Stage has a certain objective that must be met before the Devil's Gate appears and things go to hell. Most of them will be to kill a certain number (or type) of enemy, but others will have you trying to collect specific things.

When the Devil Gate appears the game enters a state of "Devil Time". During this time enemies will move much faster, do more damage, and be worth more points if killed. Though dangerous, it might be worthwhile to kill things during devil time for extra points. This is also a great way to increase the bounty for your own head, to be turned in later with a Wanted Poster (more below)

Earn extra guys / continues through points. Each character will get extra continues at different rates. Just like the good ol' days, when points used to mean something!

Getting killed is not necessarily the end! As long as you have continues left you can retry the stage you got offed at again. Be warned: Using up a continue will reduce your max HP by 1 as well as half both your Money and Gold Nuggets!

NOTE: Using a continue has no effect on either your stats or collected antiques though, thankfully!

You will occasionally come across NPCs that have been captured while playing. You can choose to release them or not, but your choices may have consequences!

Items and Etc.
There are many items to be found in ODW. Collecting any item at all will give you points. You always want to try and get a high score as that's how you'll earn 1UPs / extra Continues if you die.

Antiques

Collecting antiques at the bandito shop will really help you out, as each will give you a small passive bonus upon starting any new game. By collecting every one you'll have a better and better shot at winning the game! You can view your antiques at any time from the start menu in the Olde Tyme Museum.

NOTE: There is one special antique for each character that can only appear if you're playing with that character. For example, you will never see "Grant's Tankard" at a bandito shop if you're not playing as the Drunk.

Power Ups

Power ups can be found by breaking wooden crates, buying them from Bandito Shops, or winning them on the bonus rounds between stages. As they're very strong, you'll always want to try and get as many as possible!

Maximum HP (Heart)
This is your character's life energy. When it's 0, you die. You'll always want to have as many HPs as possible, so keep yer eyes peeled for these things!

Gun Power (Pistol)
The strength of your bullets. Since killing enemies from far away is safer than punching them in the throat, a strong pistol is key!

Melee Power (Knife)
This is the strength of your hand to hand weapon (Bowie Knife, Shovel, or Whorish Fan). If you run out of ammo, you're going to want a fine backup to smack things around with. It's also a good idea to hit weak enemies with your melee weapon and save your gun for the tougher critters down the road.

Armor (Suit of Armor)
An indication of your character's physical defense. Damage caused by touching enemies or getting stabbed, hit with arrows, porcupine quills or bullets can be lessened with a high armor value.

Stamina (Cowboy Boots)
Stamina is exclusively used to running away. If you get into a pickle- and believe me, you will- it might be a good idea to sprint to safety with a burst of speed. Having a high stamina lets you sprint for longer as well as reduce the cooldown time to when you can sprint again.

Safe Time (Clock)
When you are hit or otherwise damage, your character will become greyed out and little flashy things will appear around them. During this time you are invincible from getting damaged again. Your safe time stat increases this short period of invincibility. Isn't that great??

Max Ammo / Bullets (3 bullets)
This tells you how many bullets your gun can currently hold maximum. You can only increase your maximum ammo capacity through the Bandito Shop (if it's for sale) or from winning it during the Bonus Round.

Bullseye (Target)
Your chance to deal a critical hit to an enemy. Most of the time a critical hit will instantly kill anything, with rare exception. This value carries over to both your gun and melee weapon and is very powerful indeedy.

Resistance ("R" Shield)
Resistance is a stat that covers your general resistance to damage other than physical. This includes: Ghosts, Fires, and Explosions. Additionally, having a high resistance may protect you from getting poisoned or even diseased when faced with the possibilty.

Shot Speed (Black Ball)
Having a strong gun won't mean jack if it takes an hour for your bullets to find their mark. Picking up these things will make your bullets shoot faster and faster. Increasing your bullet speed will GREATLY enhance your bad-assery, so do it! Reckon!

Other Items

Ace Card
There are 4 of these, somewhere out there to be found. Getting all of them is rumored to help you greatly when you face off against the Devil later. But hey, what do I know?

Wanted Poster
If you're lucky, you may even find a poster for your own arrest! If you manage to complete the stage you'll skip the normal Bonus Round and be given the option to turn yourself in for various amounts of cash, in exchange for 1 Life / Continue. You'll increase the bounty against you by killing as many things as humanly possible. Wanted Posters are very rare.

♥♥♥♥♥♥ Points (Cowboy Head)
These fuel your character's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Skills. You start each game with 3. These can be bought, found in crates, or rarely from chests or certain enemies.

Score Star
These flashing stars act as score multipliers and will sometimes appear in all kinds of places. Not there, you perv! They go away after a short time.

Gold Nugget
Nuggets of... You guessed it, GOLD! You can sometimes find them in various amounts by breaking rocks. Rarely you can find some under skeletons too. Gold can be sold to any Kooky Prospector for between $2-$5 each. If you can somehow get at least 20 nuggets you can even trade the Prospector for his "special treasure", whatever the heII that is!

Loot / Money Bag
If you think money is valuable now, imagine what it was like back in the Old West! Back in the days when a house cost like $100 or something nuts. ANYHOW, picking up a money bag will give you between $1-$3 in cash. You can spend cash at any Bandito Shop or wild \/\/♥♥♥♥ you may find. The maximum amount of cash you can carry at one time is $99.

Medicine (Red Bottle)
Special vials of crushed herbs and other nonsense, mixed by some city slicker doctor. It works, but will only heal you a small amount of HP per bottle. At least they're cheap!

Booze
Lukewarm bottles of something made in a backwoods still, every old west character just loves this crap. If you're playing as the Drunk, drinking a bottle of booze will also heal +1HP.

Bullet
Breaking open ammo crates will give you bullets. Bullets are used to shoot your gun. Shooting your gun is good. 'Nuff said!

Ammo Bag
Sometimes you'll find an entire bag of bullets inside an ammo crate (or for sale at a shop). Picking up an ammo bag will refill your gun to capacity regardless of how many max bullets you can carry. Yeah!!

Salve of Health (Green Bottle)
Pick one of these up to instantly cure any terrible disease you might have caught from playing with dead bodies in the field. I mean, what were you thinking??

Snake Oil (Yellow Bottle)
Straight from a Charlatan, it's rumored to cure everything from diarreah to male pattern baldness. Taking a sip of this is always a risky move, as it will either completely refill your HP or bring it straight down to 1.

Anti-Toxin (Purple Bottle w/ Skull)
Drink this thing to instantly cure any poisoning you may have gotten from playing with rattlesnakes or wading in giant flashing purple swamplands.

Wagon Wheel
Hit one of these here wagon wheels and it'll bound around all crazy-like, damaging enemies and obstacles until the cows come home*

*Or until it runs outta' steam, which is much more likely.

James the outlaw's specialty is his pistol, which starts with the fastest bullet speed and ammo capacity. He has a nifty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ skill called Piercin' Shot, which shoots three bullets in a cone-shape and can travel through any enemies and keep going. Best of all, it magically doesn't consume ammo!

Hell mode is probably your best chance to get it because it'll give you 2 random antiques to choose from instead of one. BUT you have certainly played the crap out of the game enough and I thank you for your patronage!

I've watched most of them and you do a great job (even if I don't understand the language most of the time). You and a few other Let's Players are good at the game but most of the guys I've seen can't even make it past Stage 1 (!) I mean even my kids can get past stage 1 holy shit it's not that bad :steamhappy:

Hey great news though: I've finished the new update and am just in the testing phase now. Its probably going to be released in a day or so. The new area is HARD but a very good challenge for ODW pros. And it's fun!
