THIS MOD IS DESIGNED FOR SEATED PLAY

By playing this Mod any other way than seated, you do so at your own risk. You may be able to stomach this standing, but I absolutely cannot recommend it at this time. Roomscale does not work whatsoever right now. These play styles will hopefully be improved in the future for both Rift and Vive.

SteamVR Support Added!

You can enable it by starting the game with -steamvr.

Right now, in SteamVR you can't see the game when the intro videos are playing, or during loading screens. This is because the game glues them to your eyes, and I'd rather drop those frames (for now) than make people sick. If you're on the SteamVR Beta, Asynchronous Reprojection should work during normal gameplay. And a big shout out to CrossVR/Armada for the assistance, and walking me through how to get SteamVR working correctly! - Nibre

To disable VR and play Normal change Launch Options to this:

Troubleshooting

This happened to me on HTC Vive Pro 1st startup I was not in VR!

Go back and move the "dxgi.dll" out of your Alien Isolation folder.
Remove the "-steamvr" Launch Options for now.
Start game Normal on your Monitor and create a Game Save, then Exit Game.
Put the "dxgi.dll" back in your Alien Isolation folder.
Set "-steamvr" in Launch Options and SteamVR will be working now.

The mod still works if you follows the instructions below:-

1. Exit Steam
2. Locate and open the file "appmanifest_214490" (located in \Steam\steamapps)
3. Change "installdir" "Alien Isolation " ------> "installdir" "AlienIsolation"
(using wordpad etc. and save)
4. Follow the guide here and copy the mod file into the game files as normal.
5. Open Steam and run the game!
6. Go into setting and you should see Mother VR at the bottom where you can set your render
to Steam VR, this may kick you out of the game, but re-launch and it should be good to go.

I found these instructions on another site and the credit needs to go to LostSpaceBadger.

Well, I managed it to work on W11 with the "move installation folder / create a symbolic link" trick as @lenninscjay reported. Quest 1 via steam VR, looks / perform great.
But: 1) you will get sick with mouse/kb 2) you will miss your x.1 headset as this game is 70% sound from an enemy you can't see (until it's too late).

I hope someone can answer this---

I have got the game to run in VR (VivePro2) no problem,
YOU HAVE TO UNCHECK "use desktop game theatre while steamVR is active" just above where you type in -steamvr launch options.

I have one issue though. I get jerks or skips as I walk! Does anyone know of this or a fix?

I desperately want to continue playing this as its a whole new experience in VR unlike anything ive ever played but can continue with skips while moving!

The game will not launch with dxgi.dll in the install folder.If I take it out it launches.

for everyone having issues getting motherVR working, 2022 and beyond. Take a look here: https://github.com/Nibre/MotherVR/issues/229#issuecomment-1350286741

Basically, steam changed a naming scheme for its games in the common folder breaking the game. It is possible to fix this, but involves moving the "Alien Isolation" folder out steamapps/common and creating dropping a symbolic link (using mklink) back in the steamapps/commong folder named "AlienIsolation" (no space)

Same as others from 12/21. Game crashes right after start up. Remove the DLL and it starts in pancake mode fine. Did the save game step as well. Funny thing is I had it running on my previous PC fine. Had to get a new PC and now it does this. Wish I could play :-)

Great mod and working fine for me an hour or so into the game, only annoying thing is when you seem to look away from centre you go into a crouch, anyway to solve this? Bit of a dream come through to play an Alien game in VR :)
