It's super easy......
Basically just
go to your spawn station and find "The Barber"


Get your crew to follow you into the machine,



then change appearence of your bots NOT BY PRESSSING R, but by going into Crew AI tab and selecting the one you want to change....

What next?
TURN OFF THE OXYGEN (and turn your crew into robots/androids)
It's now unneeded and will prevent any and all fires, it will also help to kill any intruders without an exosuit (only if they are human)

It also helps on non-radioactive planets; exosuits that slow you down are no longer needed.....

Anyway, the title of this guide is misleading. I thought it was about "How to race spaceships", as in a contest of speed. This should be called "How to Change the Race/Gender/Appearance of AI Bots".

How do you get bots to follow you when you beam down to the station or a planet?
