Why I'm Creating This Guide

This guide was primarily created to help all you new traders, and Rocket League players to keep your hard earned Rocket League keys, or items through trading. After my last guide about buying and selling to me became a huge hit, many came to me and asked for free items saying they recently got scammed, and were desperate! I felt that this was a necessary thing to make a guide about, and I wanted to help all you people in the Rocket League community and have a safe trading environment where you can have safe trades and be happy in the process!

History of Scams!

Scamming as a whole is something that affects every single marketplace that exists, it is there in real life and claims the hard earned money and time of countless victims every day. From the good old Nigerian Prince Scams!

To the new modern day BItconnect Scam
Scammers stop at nowhere to steal your hard earned money! This guide may not be able to stop those Nigerian princes, or bitconnect scams, but is one to keep your rocket league trading environment safe and keep you from losing your hard earned money!

Now Onto How To Stop Getting Scammed In Rocket League, AND AVOID THOSE MONEY STEALING MORONS

In all honesty, being safe from scams just requires a bit of common sense, and the sense to know when something seems to good to be true. This guide aims to teach all of you proper tips and tricks to stay safe, and to educate you all on the various types of scams, and how to notice them and stay safe!

Lets Start With The Good Old Bait and Switch/Color Scam

The good old color switch scam, one of the oldest tricks in the book! The easiest one to avoid and not fall for but still people fall for it. But its all ok, once you read this you will know how to stay safe!

This scam is an ez scam to avoid mostly because it legit requires no knowledge, and requires u to click one button! At the bottom left of the trade window there is a show details button, all you have to do is to click that and hover over the item the other person is trading in the trade window, and before you accept! CONFIRM THAT it is the color you want, if you are going to go out and spend 50 keys on White Dracos, just give yourself a minute and confirm everything in the trade looks right! I MEAN JESUS UR SPENDING 50 KEYS, WHICH IS LIKE $50 AND YOU AREN'T GOING TO SPEND LIKE 1 MINUTE CONFIRMING YOU ARE GETTING WHAT U WANT! Come on guys, this is one of the easier scams to avoid, and is one that no one should be falling for!

The Good Old Middleman Scam

This is the crown jewel of scamming and its probably the easiest one to avoid, this generally happens with higher tier items or cashing out while trading for in real life currency like paypal, or bitcoin. The scammer generally comes to you with a fair or an extremely good offer. Sequence of events follows this generally. Will show 2 seperate instances of how this scam works one for real life trading such as Paypal etc, and one for trading within game like RL Keys.

REAL MONEY TRADING STEPS OF ACTION SCAMMER NORMALLY WILL ATTEMPT

Step 1: Scammer adds you on steam, and offers a fair or over the top deal. Fair would be in the lines of $100 paypal for white octane, over the top would be like $150 for white octane.

Step 2: He asks if you are interested in this, and if you say yes he will generally ask how we are gonna do this.

Step 3: You are all confused because why would you go first, he could run away with your item. But why would the scammer go first because hypothetically you could run off with his money. Its a risk for both parties, the scammer then proceeds to make an ingenious move that baffles you completely. He says I know off a discord server with trusted middleman.

Step 4: You being the gullible individual (hopefully not) think if someone else middlemans for you it automatically means its safer, well its in all honesty not. NOT ALL DISCORD MIDDLEMAN ARE LEGIT, I will go out of my way and link all the TRUSTABLE DISCORDS down at the end of the guide for your convenience, so you all CAN AVOID GETTING SCAMMED.

Step 5: You trust the middleman give him your item, and you say bye bye to your item, and you start crying as you just got scammed, and you aren't gonna see a single penny of what you sold it for. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!

This scam is really easy to not fall for especially if you just make sure you are in a discord that is legit, or you are using a legit middleman! I will be linking all reputable discords down at the bottom of this guide for all your conveniences.

HOW THE MIDDLEMAN SCAM WORKS BUT IN GAME ROCKET LEAGUE KEYS

Step 5: This is the difference same idea tho, you give the middleman your item and he scams you, and you don't get your keys! Same idea just don't fall for it.

TO STRESS THE IMPORTANCE DONT TRUST RANDOM PEOPLE YOU JUST MEET IN GAME, i'm not saying everyone is a terrible person but don't throw away your hardwork, add me if you have any questions or want a safe place to trade as I can provide that information and help you with that.

The Famous Person Impersonator Scam

Most content creators make this clear THEY WILL NOT ADD YOU FOR ITEMS, OR TRADE! IF YOU GET ADDED BY SOMEONE CLAIMING THAT THEY ARE SOME FAMOUS YOUTUBER OR SOMETHING ALONG THAT LINE! IT IS A SCAM, NO THEY AREN'T GONNA USE YOUR ITEM FOR A VIDEO NO THEY AREN'T GONNA RETURN IT TO YOU ITS SIMPLE JUST DONT LEND PEOPLE ITEMS REGARDLESS OF WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE. Just dont fall for this guys easiest scam to not fall for ever! Just don't trust someone if you don't have too! If you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ watch those content creators enough they all say the same thing! THEY WONT ADD U.

Funny story I actually got added by a guy claiming he was part of a youtube channel called nelk, suprising enough those boys are in jail for being stupid pretty solid way to scam people. LOL

The Phishing Site Scam

OUT OF ALL THE SCAMS THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS

Playout of how the scam actually happens! Mind you this guy actually tried this on me, and I reported him for it! Make sure you report all scammers!

This seller had a Heatwave on sale for 18 keys which is fairly under market value thus I added him to ask him if I could buy it, when I added him he stated that he had changed his mind and had wanted items. This is understandable as people may want an item overpay instead of pure keys, and cannot change their offer on rocket league garage due to the 15 minute cooldown so it was understandable. However this is where the scam came in, he sent me a link to view potential items he was interested in, but the trap was that I had to sign into my steam account! I will update the screenshots showing pictures of the site when I can!

QUICK AND EZ SOLUTION TO THIS! JUST DONT CLICK SHADY LINKS IN CHAT, and NEVER SIGN INTO YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT ON ANY WEBSITE UNLESS YOU CAN 100 PERCENT VERIFY THAT IT IS INDEED A LEGIT SITE.

Please dont get scammed by this, its easy to avoid and just make sure you stay safe while trading. You didn't win a white zomba giveaway on a random site, you know you didn't let alone a site you never heard off. No ONE I REPEAT NO ONE IS GIVING YOU FREE STUFF, for logging into their site IT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN. Make sure you stay safe guys!

User Requested Scam: Steam Gift Scam

Thanks to Phat for requesting this scam, and working to keep the community safe!

The steam game chargeback scam is quite novice, but it's quite easy to avoid as well so anyone who sees this scam happening avoid it!

The real issue with this scam is the fact that its happening through steam, middleman can't stop it either, and it seems to be going fine until a few days after it hapens.

How the scam works is:

Step 1: Scammer will generally add you, or you will add the scammer since he is offering games for steam at a fairly good or discounted price.

Step 2: Most scammers I have encountered who use this scam are people who are willing to go first since either way they get their money back, so it seems really good because you are getting the game first so the risk is minimal to you.

Step 3: If you are (trustworthy) once you get the game, you give the items and both parties are left happy and joyful ... until a few days later you get a message from steam saying your game got rescinded.

Step 4: Basically what happened was the guy who gifted you the game, either said he accidentally gave it to the wrong person or chargebacked with his credit card that he used to pay with. Steam ends up refunding him, and the game gets taken out from your account.

Step 5: You are there like i just lost my items, really is only one solution for this. Dont trade items for games on steam, and if you really want a game try to sell your items for paypal, or steam wallet cards as those are a lot harder to get chargebacked on.

There is always risks for trading out of game, just make sure you all watch out, and don't get scammed!
