Overview
The fix is simply changing the texture details for the game to medium, make sure to select "save settings" after changing the texture detail located in the "Dragon Age: Origins" menu thing at the top of the configure window

NOTE: Visual C++ runtime errors can still occur just much less frequently, if you start experiencing severe slowdown ingame and frames dropping save your game, exit and start the game back up again,
Also if the game keeps crashing jump over to this guide here: How to Fix Dragon Age: Origins (Ultimate Fix Guide) and follow the section about frequent random crashes, it might also help to make Dragon age LAA explained in this guide: Making DA: Origins LAA (Steam)

The Fix
Changing the texture detail setting to medium should solve both your issues, MAKE SURE TO SELECT THE DRAGON AGE ORIGINS OPTION UP THE TOP THEN SELECT SAVE SETTINGS OTHERWISE WILL NOT SAVE

1. Start Dragon Age Origins Via Steam

2. Press Play to Continue

3. Select "Configure"

4. Select "Video"

5. Change the "Texture Detail" setting to Medium

6. IMPORTANT: Make sure to save your changes by selecting the "Dragon Age: Origins" option up the top then selecting "Save Settings"

7. After Selecting "Save Settings" exit the Window

8. Play Dragon Age, Enjoy
Closing
