Middle Earth

Beskrivelse
Middle Earth is a huge and detailed map/scenario based on the works of JRR Tolkien. 9 civilizations with balanced starting points. Each civilization starts with 1 settler and 1 warrior in 4000 BC. Besides the change of names of the civs with custom starting locations (and of course the Middle Earth map) the game is unaltered. You need the Gods and Kings expansion.

Follow these steps[forums.civfanatics.com] to enable this (or any) mod. Remember to select the Middle Earth map at step 11 and tick 'Load Scenario'.

IMPORTANT: Please turn off 'Custom Advanced Setup Screen', or 'Really Advanced Setup' (or both) if you have them enabled. It won't work if these are enabled.

Rome=Gondor, Greece=Rohan, Carthago=The Hobbits, The Celts=Woodelves, The Dutch=The Dwarves, Mongolia=Mordor, The Huns=Dunland, Persia=Easterlings, The Ottomans=Elves of Lindon.

Please share your experiences and suggestions so I can update and improve the map.
Version 2 stable is now online.

I really like this scenario. If I could add someting, I'd like to have the chance to play the "reliable mode" as well. I enjoy (for example) a good Lindon-Gondor war allied with Mordor some time, but I'd love to play according to Tolkien's story too.

I'd have 4 recommendations in that line:

1. Starting locations in their proper places.
2. Blocking technological progress beyond middle age.
3. Adding more civs or city-states (Isengard, Dale/Lake-Town, Lorien, Gundabad, The Carrock, Rivendel...) or reducing (even deleting) Barbarians instead.
4. Pre-stablished and invariable relations (friendship, peace, war).

Thank you for your hard work. Congrats!

Can I use this map for a scenario of the war of the ring?

Would it be possibe to colaberate this with a moder who has created Middle Earch Civs? Or possibly make this compatable with Civilizations of Middle Earth Pack? I don't exactly know how much work would go into this, but I think this would work amazingly if you could use those civs and set them to specific start locations.

Another possibility is also in adding City States to take on roles of minor factions like Dale?
Just a few ideas. I am a huge fan of LOTR. Subscribed xD

Hope these ideas might be useful!

V What Donald Keller said, or just the entire world of Arda in general.

Femka, i tried to edit the map in world builder (for personal use, of course) and it always crashes. Any solution ?

@walraven007 The problem there is that there are several representations of the world of Arda.
I'd personally be interested in seeing Beleriand and Middle Earth together.
