Transfer Save Files
Find the "Save Folder" for this game

  • Windows Folder "STEAMFOLDER/userdata/USERID/391220/"
  • LInux Folder "HomeFolder/.steam/steam/userdata/USERID/391220/"

Exit Steam

Copy/Backup all the files to another location (I'll refer to it as backup folder).

Once Copied rename the the files in the 'remote' of the "backup folder" folder to *.ldat for linux or *.dat for windows.

Copy the 'remote' folder in "backup folder" back to the "save folder". Merge and replace as needed

If that doesn't work, check that remotecache.vdf in the "saves folder" has the *.ldat or *.dat files (whichever you need) listed if not change the size of profile.* to some random number bigger than original value.

If that dosen't work, or wish to replace everything continue on. Make sure You have backed up before continuing.

Make sure to exit the game and Steam when editing the files.
(Delete Saves) Bringing up the Cloud Sync Conflict dialog
Modified from Original Source http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=28393747&postcount=1

The first part is probably the most difficult. In order to get rid of the files stored in Steam servers, we'll need the help of the Cloud Sync Conflict dialog. It appears when the Cloud files differ from the local files stored on your computer.

Exit Steam and make sure that Steam Cloud is enabled.

Make all files size 0 bytes For Linux
  • Enter the remote folder and right-click
  • Click on "Open in terminal".
  • Use this command to empty all files in the directory (Not Delete)
    find . -type f -exec sh -c '>"{}"' \;
  • Done: all your files are now 0 bytes!
Make all files size 0 bytes For Windows
Check the link or search it up, Add in comments if you find something

Warning: be sure to not delete accidentally system or user files! There is no confirmation when you press Enter!

Delete remotecache.vdf in "save folder"

Start Steam and "Sync conflict" should appear in your game status.

Once you have "Sync conflict", start your game and the Cloud Sync Conflict dialog should appear.
(Delete Saves) Deleting the Cloud files
Ok now it's piece of cake. Once the dialog is opened, don't click on any option.

Go to "save folder" and delete ALL the files in it, remote folder and remotecache.vdf.

Go back to the Cloud Sync Conflict dialog and click on "Upload to the Steam Cloud". Steam will sync your AppID folder with nothing in it... meaning that all the files on the Cloud will be deleted!

Then the game should start automatically. But... it will create new files that will be synced when I'll leave the game!! Indeed it will.

Exit Steam.

Note: if you haven't modified all the files in step I, only the modified ones will be deleted. The others will remain in Steam Cloud.
Reinstate Saves
Close Game and Steam

Ensure the backup files are converted to *.ldat for linux or *.dat for windows

Copy back the 'remote' folder from the "backup folder" to the "save folder" (Merge and replace all files)

Edit the newly generated remotecache.vdf file in the "save folder" and where it says size replace that number with a different one than what is written and the size of your save.

Restart Steam and Game

remotecache.vdf should now have all the files stated within it.

Trying to migrate my saves from Windows to Steam Deck. Renamed .dat to .ldat, the renamed save file shows up correctly on the title screen. But when I load it, the game just goes to a black screen.

check the remotecache.vdf to see if all the .ldat files are listed if they are then those files are being synced though they may be replaced by the ones in the cloud.

Also i have not been able to play the game for a while, it loads the save and then when i leave that area and it starts loading the area I get that fault. But I did this trick a long time ago and it worked. So i'm not sure if the game is broken or an update breaks this method. I'm not sure what to do to start diagnosing it. Maybe I need to modify the remotecache.vdf to clean out the cloud backup to test this. Perhaps, they don't need to be renamed, or the two conflicting files, because it does currently re-download the .dat files

That method didn't work either

Could you try the alternate method by TL and i'll update if they are correct. Things must have changed

Doesn't work, causes a segmentation error.

1) Quit the Steam-launcher.

2) Copy the files from the Windows folder "STEAMFOLDER/userdata/USERID/391220/remote" (*.dat) to a temporary location

3) Rename the files from *.dat to *.ldat

4) Copy the renamed files to the LInux folder "HomeFolder/.steam/steam/userdata/USERID/391220/remote"

5) Start steam.

6) Launch the game.

Steam will automatically add the renamed files to the remotecache.vdf, which is used to synchronize the savegames to the Steam cloud-service. If you create a new savegame, it will be uploaded as usual.
