I've had some problems launching / playing some games I recently got and while searching around for answers someone mentioned their problem had to do with a bugged Steam update, but by next update it sorted itself out for them.

Don't know if this would apply to you. I haven't tried yet cuz my steamguard is acting up and I'm afraid I might get locked out if I log off. I do NOt want to deal with a wait period while they get back to me right in the middle of my spring break. ...and if I disappear again for a while, you will know why.
