Caster Classes Guide
By Free Baba 2024
In this guide I will be giving a run down of my most common caster builds in NWN. I plan to cover Wizard, Sorcerer, Druid, and Cleric in large detail covering stats, feats, skills, as well as spells I personally use on each level. Of course most of this is all changeable. It shouldn't change the playstyle of the build too much. And if it does and makes it even more powerful to how you play that is even better. I hope you enjoy. I am sorry I do not have Cleric done yet. It should be done within the next few days. I have gotten extremely busy these past few weeks.

Wizard
This is just my default caster build so I did not specalize any school of magic. It might seem a little basic but I plan to expand and create my more advanced arcane builds soon. With this character I play an elf for the extra DEX as well as the elven weapon proficiency. Alignment does not matter in this build unless you wish to become a Pale Master which I will not be doing in this build. Even with this combo since I focus magic I will not wear armor. As for spells I will not say what to use, being that it comes down to the situation have a rough idea what you will be fighting and pick from there.

Sorcerer
Intro
For this build I use a gnome for concentration bonus. This guide I build as a default sorcerer build being that the best combo is to make them a red dragon disciple. Besides that being a sorcerer will allow you to have a shorter spell count but they are more powerful.

Druid
For this build I play an elf for the extra dexterity bonus as well as the ability to use longbows as their weapon to not worry about being the front lines. I do not know what a good title for this druid is, you are more of a support druid rather than a DPS being that you will focus on keeping any allies in Multiplayer alive, or in single player your two animal companions. As well as if the fight is brought up close having the ability to get your animals to distract your enemies for you to sneak attack them. Being trained as a rouge is not intended so much for the ability to disarm traps and locks more so the ability to escape enemies.

For your animal companion for your first few levels I prefer the dire wolf, being that it has quite a high HP as well as the ability to knockdown making it so a few less enemies make it to your archery.

Spells
As for spells the most important thing is to get spells that can buff such as barkskin, magic fang, as well as healing spells, and spells that increase stats such as bulls strength. Save one slot in each level for summon animal, once you get the next level in the spell series replace the old one with a buffing spell.
Cleric
For this build I play a half elf being that as a support character not being effected by sleep spells is very crucial.

won't that Druid build get experience penalty?

Just a heads-up. Any class with access to Continual Flame can use it to gain access to unlimited Gold.

Wizards are especially good at this because they gain it as a second level spell and can use metamagic slots to cast it at higher levels (silent spell is good).

Basically this allows you to buy a 1gp quarterstaff and sell it back for 100gp profit. Even if you don't want to spend time dedicated to this exploit, it's still nice to get a bit of extra cash by selling slightly buffed loot

Hey Xavier, nice list!

Given that all of these builds are capped at level 30, I imagine that these are all designed for somewhere like Arelith? Most online NWN environments go up to 40, and the Campaigns are capped at around 18 for the OC / 28 for HoTU.

For anyone else interested in character build collections, I'd have a look here too. :)

@Sir Nilbog I have gotten distracted and plan to finish the Cleric within the next week. I have most of it done just not uploaded.

@analog_relic Okay good to know I might use that when I make my next set of Caster builds.

The build is for single player and up close and personal. Cleric for a henchman is my usual playstyle. AR

@analog_relic I do think that is a viable build that you described being that it will allow you to focus more spells. I personally do not like that being that you have to get up close to your foes, I focus most of my builds in a server where you will have a group so being frontline wizard is not the best role. Although for a singleplayer build your character sounds like a good set up, especially one without henchmen.

Quite interesting. I usually play a human, starting as a thief for level 1-3 for the +2D6 sneak attack, and then wizard from level four on. The additional HP starting as a thief and the sneak attack really make a difference when I change to wizard. What are your thoughts on this? AR
