How to get Hearts of Iron 2 working on windows 10

I have seen people being unable to play Hoi2 on windows 10 so i thought i would try to help with this guide.

How to do it

First you need press mouse 2 on the game in your library and pick Properties, Local Files and Browse local files.

Then find the Hoi2.exe from the main files or from the Doomsday folder (depending on wich you want to play)

Then you need to press mouse 2 and go into Properties, Compatibility and then check the box for "run this program in compatibility for:" and select windows 8.

After that you should be able to play Hoi2 normally trough steam.

This worked for me and i hope this will work for you too!

I followed all the directions but it's still asking me for direct play, which is already installed. I'll go back and double check that windows 8 stuck.

HOI2 works for me without doing any change to the game.

I did recently learn how to get to ARMA. Thanks. I've also learned how to get to all the folders and have had quite a time editing events. I'ven't actually created one, however.

@lycan_bat start the game from the steam library and it will ask you if you want to run the base game, or Armageddon.

I can play the basic HOI2 game, but I miss the Armageddon features.

Hey,

I found a way to play HoI2 on Windows 10!
But you need, darkest hour!

Install both, than take all the HoI2 Data from folder to the Darkest Hour folder.

Dann you can play on windows 10!
