How to join a server in "The Ship"
By Redey59
For those who cant join any servers because of the "master server" problem.
This is a VERY simple guide on how to join a server, nothing more nothing less.

The usual browser doesn't work because the master server is down, so the new way of joining servers is by "searching" for them more directly.

Using Steam's server browser to find servers
While the ingame server browser might not be functional, the one found under steam still is.

To access this, simply look in your steam application and go to View and then Servers. This'll open up the servers browser as found in most source games.

Once here, change the filter to be specifically for The Ship, the option for this can be found at the bottom left of the browser

Now simply right-click on any server and hit "View server info" to get more information about the server, most importantly to get it's IP adress.

Copy the IP adress to your clickboard (either right click the line > copy or highlight the numbers and hit CTRL / CMD + C
How to join a server through direct IP
Once you have the IP you'll need to activate the developer console ingame (its the same as in all other source games so feel free to skip this part if you know how to enable it already).

1. Go to "Engine Room" (this is the "options" menu in this game)
2. Select Keyboard
3. Select Advanced
4. Tick "enable developer console" on

Now press the ` key on your keyboard (usually to the left of "1", above tab and under escape)
You should see a box pop up, this is the typical console found in source games, in here type the following:
Connect "the line of numbers"
i.e
Connect 789.489.495.228;27015

Now hit enter and you should be on your way a multiplayer server :)

Thanks for reading, gl&hf.
Changelog
Edit 1: You can go to the "favorites" tab in the server browser and then press "add server", if you type the IP there it will stay there forever, removing the entire process of going to the site and such. (thanks for the tip: Flaming Waffle and Tyrak)

Edit 2: You can look at all available servers in the steam client by going to: View > Servers > Change the filter for "Game" into "The ship", this will then show a more familiar list. Rightclicking on a server here and then looking at its server info will then give you the IP of that server

Edit 3: This guide's multiple years old at this point and still filled with horrid english, considering comments are still popping in from time to time I went and fixed some of it.

Edit 4: Cleared out a broken link and added a new section on how to now simply use the steam server browser to achieve the same effect

Very sad.

The servers are pretty much gone sadly... You can *rarely* find a game with some people in it, but so far I've only found a server with 1 guy who had a bunch of more advanced bots with him, and that was only one time.

The link in the guide seems to be dead, will alter it in a bit.
Looking under Steam > View > Servers and then putting the game filter on "The Ship" still shows a bunch fo servers for me, I'd recommend trying that
