In Deathrun, you will automatically be assigned a team. These teams are broken up into two categories which most servers usually call "Runners" and "Death", but the names vary a bit by which server you choose. For example another name used would be; "Goodies" (Runners) and "Baddies" (Death) from the Casual Bananas Servers[www.casualbananas.com]. Another name is "Runners" (Runners) and "Killers" (Death) from the Break Point Servers[breakpointservers.com]. Don't let the name fool you, they are both still Runners and Death whatever you call the name.These teams have their own specific intentions on what to do.

The intention of the Runner is to make it through an obstacle course (Also known as the map). The Death control the obstacle course by pressing buttons that control the traps. These traps will vary from the map you are in, and they won't be all the same types of traps. The Runner tries to trick the death into thinking that they are going to jump in the trap by any way posssible. The Death try to get the runner killed with traps. The traps are activated on the Death's side with buttons. The default key to press buttons is E.

You always want to have good strategy on anything you do, right? So this section will have good tips and advice on how to conquer the Death or destroy the Runners. The videos below are to help visualize what might happen when you are playing Deathrun. There is a video for Runners and a video for Death.

• Learn how to BHOP
• Jump back and forth when behind traps (This gives an illusion that you will actually go in the trap)
  
• Spin around behind the trap (This also gives an illusion that you will actually go in the trap)
  
• Count on other players to go in the trap; if they go in first you can wait for them to either die or live
  
• Know your maps (Play on the map at least more than once so you can know where the traps are)
  
• Try not to get distracted

• Don't trap spam (This will mean you will lose many traps up ahead because of this)
  
• Try to trap a large crowd not just one person
  
• If a person is running up ahead get someone else to deal with them (Or deal with them yourself)
  
• Make sure to know your traps and their proper buttons
  
• Try not to get distracted (Same as runners)

As a runner, once you have succesfully reached the end, you will usually see 3 or 4 "portals" or "chambers" to go through. Usually they say something like "BHOP" "Knife" or they don't say anything at all. Once you pick one of these chambers you will be teleported to a new part of the map. This area is where you get to fight the Death and try to win for your team. You get a series of weapons usually, varying from crowbars to SMGs.

As a death, once the runner's have beaten all of you traps they will go into end where they choose what to do. This time you have to wait a few seconds before you get teleported into the final room. This is where you fight the runners and try to win for your team, The Deaths. Death's usually in most servers get to fight with melee weapons only. Deaths have to do the same kind of thing that runners get to do at the end, usually but not always. A death's goal is to kill all of the runners before they reach the end.

The reason for many errors that you are getting is probably because you don't have Counter Strike: Source.

Technically, you don't. But it is good to have it because for many maps and gamemodes you will get errors and missing textures. Garry's Mod relies on many of Counter Strike: Source's textures, maps, and, models.
