Introduction
When wars were faced with fists and steel

Gette it Onne! is a project that started in December 21, 2017 and founded by two people that used to hit each other in the face with Ham Shanks - Ed and bc Yume. This project has already become something bigger than what we thought because we had lots of people helping us out with it, and the league's first season hasn't even started!

GiO!'s intention is to provide to its players lots of fun and a unique competitive experience that requires strategies completely different than TF2's main competitive play.

If you're interested in this project, feel free to join our Discord server[discord.gg] and Steam Community group (don't forget to invite your friends!) and subscribe our YouTube channel.
1. The Medieval Mode
Source: Medieval Mode - Official TF2 Wiki | Official Team Fortress Wiki

Medieval Mode is a game mode added to Team Fortress 2 during the Australian Christmas event with the December 17, 2010 Patch.

Currently, there is only one official map that uses Medieval mode, DeGroot Keep. The game mode is unique in that it does not allow players to use any weapons of their choice - it restricts them to a set list of allowed weapons, mainly focusing on melee weapons. The goal of the game mode is similar to a control point game, in that there are a number of control points which the attacking team must capture and the defending team must defend. In the only currently official map, the attackers must capture the first two control points in order to gain access to the last control point, which, if not captured in a set amount of time, will subsequently close and all control points will revert to being uncaptured.

Gameplay mechanics:
  • Players drop small health kits and weapons upon death. The Scout's Candy Cane melee weapon drops a secondary health kit in addition to the one dropped normally.
  • Using the Ubersaw does not build the Medic's ÜberCharge meter.
  • Players are restricted to melee weapons, with a set of exceptions based on graphical style and vitality to the class' mechanics.
  • Third-person mode can be enabled without use of sv_cheats by using the command tf_medieval_thirdperson 1. This form of third person is different from others, placing one's crosshair over their shoulder instead of above their head.

Maps:
Medieval Mode currently has only one map, DeGroot Keep. It can be enabled on any other map with the server variable tf_medieval set to 1.

Trivia:
  • In the release page, the presence of Team Fortress 2 characters in a medieval setting is explained by stating the Soldier "[Simply] angered a magician." This is a play on the familiar trope "A wizard did it", which is commonly used by authors to wave away any plot holes found by their most detail oriented fans. It was later revealed in the Very Scary Halloween Special that the magician in question is Merasmus the Magician, the RED Soldier's roommate.
2. Gette it Onne!
Gette it Onne! is a Competitive Medieval TF2 League whose first war will begin on April 29. This war will only feature the 6v6 format and two continents - North America and Europe.

Unlike TF2's Casual Mode, in this league, we have more than a single battlefield. These are the battlefields where War I battles will take place (Medieval Mode is enabled in all of them):

Our whitelist is the dafault Medieval whitelist and classes in each team are limited to 2 Scouts, 2 Soldiers, 2 Pyros, 1 Demoman, 1 Heavy, 2 Engineers, 1 Medic, 1 Sniper and 1 Spy.

If you want to practice under our league's format, we recommend you to play in our public server - games.prwh.de:27022[www.gametracker.com] provided by Dragonisser.
3. Nations
Troops never fight alone, teamwork is essential to win a battle. If you want to win, you need a Nation to support you. You can either found a Nation, or join an existing one (if its leader accepts you).

Sign-ups for the War I closed on April 25.

A. How to create your Nation:
Skip to step B if you want to join an existing Nation instead.
  1. If you don't have at least five friends that want to fight in your side, you can use our Discord server to recruit interested troops in our Discord server in the #recruitment channel.
  2. Open this: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScHw6NR7hab7j83ZI0HOV6BZ9AKPPWRxTS9tdpuvLuWLu8DCQ/viewform
  3. Give a custom nation/kingdom/province name to your Nation, similar to Steeland or Westbourne Empire, for example; not names like Fists and Steel or Meat Destroyers, you wouldn't give such names to IRL nations.
  4. Choose the division you want your Nation to participate. At the moment, only North America 6v6 and Europe 6v6 are available. Oceania and Highlander might also be available in future wars..
  5. In the next page, you must fill the names, steam IDs and Discord usernames of your troops. Example: Warrior | gtm.steamproxy.vip/id/warrior | Warrior#0515. If some of the troops can play everything, It's mandatory for the Leader to have a Discord account and to join our server and highly recommended for the other troops. Communication between Nations and with the Throne is made mostly through our Discord server. Your Nation needs at least six troops (including you) but no more than nine (6 troops and 3 backups).
  6. Submit your form in the next and last page.
  7. You can edit your Nation while the sign-ups are open. After that and before the play-offs, only its troops can be edited. To perform these actions, you must contact a King.
Congratulations, you have successfully created your Nation!

B. How to join an existing Nation:
  1. Join our Discord server in the #recruitment channel and ask for a Nation.
If someone accepts you, congratulations, you have successfully joined a Nation!

Recruitment:
Recruitment and roster changes can happen before the play-offs but only with the permission of a Referee, providing it the recruited troop's nickname, Steam URL and optionally the Discord username if the troop is in the Discord server.
Troops that have been in other nations during the current war cannot be recruited.
4. The War
During the War I, nations will face each other once a week, both during the regular war and playoffs.

The regular war uses the swiss system format and the playoffs use a single elimination format.

The number of weeks in the regular season will be seven and the top 8 nations of each region will advance to the playoffs, constituted by quarterfinals, semifinals, 3rd/4th place match and grand finals.

During the regular season, to each week, a single battlefield will be asigned to each week, so during the same week, every battle will be played on the same battlefield and only in that battlefield. If the number of nations in a division becomes odd, on each week, one of the nations will receive a bye - that nation won't play on that week and will be awarded the same number of points as for winning a match.

During the playoffs, before the finals, a single map will be played determined by a pick/ban system from both nations. During the finals, three maps will be played.

The default and time for each match is on Saturday at 9h00 PM EST for North America and Saturday at 8h00 PM UTC for Europe.

On Sundays, the nations that each nation must face will be published in our Steam group and Discord server.

If you want to fight earlier than the default time, your leader must contact the opposing nation leader and discuss a day and time that both leaders agree with. That day and time must be reported in the Discord's #battles-report channel by both leaders. If the chosen time is the default time, it must also be reported.

If a nation leader becomes unavailable to fight, one of its troops can be nominated on #battles-report to temporarily take his place.

One of the nation leaders must book a server on https://na.serveme.tf (North America) or https://serveme.tf (Europe) for the scheduled time. Here are the detailed steps:
  1. Go to https://na.serveme.tf if your nation is North American or https://serveme.tf if European.
  2. Press "Let's play".
  3. Select the agreed time in "Starts at", at least 1 hour and half after that in "Ends at" and choose the server you want to play.
  4. Choose a "Password" and a "Rcon" that you won't share with anyone.
  5. Select the right "First map", don't change the "STV password" and the "Relay password".
  6. Make sure that "Enable plugins" is disabled and "demos.tf" is enabled.
  7. Select the appropriate "Server config". "gio_6v6_medievalcp" for MA/D maps, "gio_6v6_koth" for KOTH maps and "gio_6v6_stopwatch" for A/D maps.
  8. Select "Whitelist.tf (custom whitelist)" in "Item whitelist" and write "allow_everything" or "medieval" in "Custom whitelist".
  9. Check your reservations and share the "Connect info" only with your troops and with the away nation leader.

If the nation leader doesn't want premium on serveme.tf, we recommend it to schedule the battles on a weekday, because there are usually more servers available. If there are no servers available, the leader can either become premium[serveme.tf] (the price is 1 key/month, there are more servers available, longer reservations and idle time allowed, reservations can be made more than 3 hours in the future, etc.) or ask for a server in #battles-report.

Once the agreed time arrives, both nations must connect to the server with six troops on each side (five if you're desperate). Up to two mercenaries can also play if you don't have enough available troops on your side and the opposing nation leader agrees with it. The home nation must join RED and the away nation must join BLU.

If one nation doesn't have five or six troops on its side after 15 minutes, the other nation may request a forfeit after taking a screenshot to the scoreboard and providing it to a Referee.

If a player has constantly more than 150 ping, that player must leave the server and be replaced by another one.

If the enemy nation leader does not answer you on Steam or Discord until Saturday, you may request a forfeit after taking a screenshot to the Steam and Discord chat between you and the other leader (or a proof that your friend request wasn't accepted) and providing them to a Referee.

The maximum amount of forfeits a nation can get before being forced to drop from the War is three. Meaning if you forfeit a battle three times you will be forced to bow out of the War and will not be eligible for any rewards.

If a battle happens as how it should do, after its end, the winner nation leader must post the results, a screenshot and the "logs.tf" and "demos.tf" URLs on #battles-report. For Stopwatch battles (A/D), two screenshots and two "logs.tf" and two "demos.tf" URLs must be sent.

Game mode formats:
  • Attack/Defend - 2 Stopwatch matches (ABBA). In the first match, the home nation attacks and then defends; in the second one, the away nation attacks and then defends. Possible final scores: 1-1 and 2-0.
  • Medieval Attack/Defend - Win difference of 2 rounds with minimum of 4 wins and a maximum of 10 rounds. Possible final scores: 4-0, 4-1, 4-2, 5-3, 5-5 and 6-4.
  • King of the Hill - First to 3 wins with a maximum of 4 rounds. Possible final scores: 2-2, 3-0 and 2-2.

Configs[drive.google.com] (04-07-2018)

Points awarded during the regular war:
  • 2 points - win, bye or if the opposing nation forfeits.
  • 1 point - tie.
  • 0 points - loss or forfeit.

Behaviour:
If your nation gets reported for poor behaviour (racism, toxicity, etc) in a battle, it might be penalized:
  • 1st infraction - Warning
  • 2nd infraction - Points reduction
  • 3rd infraction - Disqualification
5. Prizes
To be eligible for these rewards (except the Helper medal), you must be asigned to a nation for at least five weeks (mercenaries don't count), you must participate in at least two battles, and your nation cannot have a third forfeit.

Rewards:
Feel free to contribute to the prize pool with more Ham Shanks here.

At least 2 if your nation doesn't get disqualified (like having a 3rd forfeit for example).
