A Simple Guide To Help You Make Both Playtime & Steam Overlay Work.

Here I will explain how to make steam record your playtime, and having the steam overlay running. You will have to do some modifications in the game's directory, but it's nothing serious, as steam uses the wrong .exe which explains why it won't show a status when you are playing it.

What causes it
Wrong exe?
When launching the game, you might notice a command window that pops up. In the game's directory, steam uses an executable called "Sudo.exe" instead of the "GTR2.exe" which is the game itself. The GTR2 is obviously running afterwards. That's all you really need to know about that.
Fixing it
Open your steam-copy game direcory.
Steam > Steamapps > Common > GTR 2 - FIA GT Racing Game

Now with that out of the way, let's get onto the important stuff.

First of all, it will have a file called "Sudo.exe" which, again, is what steam uses when you press "play" under your library.






To fix this, you:
1. Rename sudo.exe to sudo.exe.backup by the whole format
1.1. Note: You could also just delete it if you want.
2. Make a copy of the GTR2.exe file, DO NOT touch the original one.
3. With the GTR2 - Copy, rename it to sudo.

And that's pretty much it, you can now enjoy your playtime skyrocketing and chat with friends without having to exit the game.

it records playtime but i have no interface and didn't let me take screenshots, any solution? windows11

If you're seeing this in 2022 with Windows 10 and this isn't working for you, the fix for me was as simple as setting my Steam to always run as administrator.
