Crash Course on Surviving
By Yupin
This is going to be a quick and uncomplicated guide with a couple pointers to people who either haven't played VT1 or don't understand why they're the only one dead on their team.
NDA has been lifted so I can make this a little more specific

Basic Pointers
  • Stay Together
There seems to be quite a lot of people wandering off alone like dazed cattle. If that's you then...just stop doing that. But more importantly if your team mates are just wandering around aimlessly just humor them. Leaving them alone will get them killed and losing a team mate isn't fun for you or them.
  • Stay Calm
Even normal difficulty can be quite challenging but even if you have all 3 of your team mates incapacitated you need to stay cool. Quick and correct decision making is vital to success and acting hopeless, angry, or frustrated will only hurt you and your team.
  • Aim for the head
You do more damage on headshot with melee and ranged weapons and you get to see their heads fly off their bodies, win-win.
  • Maintain line of sight
If you're leading your team then you want to make sure your whole team is right behind you. If you're following a player who seems to know what they're doing then make sure the person behind you is still following you. This also doubles to make sure nothing is trying to stab you in the back, which the skaven do more than their fair share of.
  • Target priority
It should look a little something like this.
Specials (including Rothelms, beserkers, and plague monks) > Boss > Stormvermin/Chaos Champions > Regular rats/northmen
  • Block reviving
You can hold right-click (block) while reviving a downed teammate and you will still block enemy attacks as long as you have the stamina.
  • Bosses
Bile troll, Rat ogre, Chaos spawn, and Stormfiend.
This is just a basic guide so all i'll really say about these guys, is just block and dodge backwards constantly if you have aggro. Be especially careful if it's against the Chaos spawn though, because he might just pick you up and eat you. If you don't have aggro then you should be hitting the boss as hard and as much as you can.

Shield enemies and Armored enemies are more susceptible to charged attacks.

Strength Potions worth wonders vs Bosses.

@cucumber it depends on who has the shields. Normal mobs with shields (non-taggable) you just need to keep bashing them until they get the shield knocked back, or bash them yourself. If they don't have focus on you, flank to the side or behind, stabby stabby.

For big guys like Stormvermin... if you have a precision ranged weapon like the bow or rifle (handgun for dwarf, arquebus for man) go for the head. Otherwise the Bomb is awesome for initiating a group fight. Keep bashing, look for openings, circle around behind their shield guard.

How to deal with shields? Enemies don't die at all when armored or has shields

Short, to the point, and effective.

Don't forget to spot or "ping" items like potions or bombs. Default button for that is 'T'.

Also remember to never let RNG spawn two wizards and two flamers at once
Literally a Moron 22 Feb, 2018 @ 12:16pm
also remember to focus fire on important targets

also sometimes aim for not the head, fear the armored symbol and hide from it's balefull gaze.
