Add and mix layer in the new project ( PART I )
Let's add the first layer in our project for the Diffuse channel.

Select "D" tab .

Click on button "ADD LAYER"

Ok, now we see the first added layer on the panel and in the viewport.
In the viewport, you will see three objects, two objects in the working grid of layers and one object below the working grid.
The first left object in the working grid (under green arrow on image) is our newly added layer in the channel "Diffuse", the right object in the working grid (under yellow arrow on image) in the same row is the resulting channel object "Diffuse" which shows the mixing of all layers of this channel.
The object below the working grid in the center (under red arrow on image) is the resultant object of all channels and layers, it shows the results of mixing absolutely all layers, using filters and editing any images.

The yellow border around the layer number on the panel indicates that this layer is now selected for subsequent operations in selected "Diffuse" chanel .

Let's add an image to this layer.
Click on the "IMAGE" button, the image selection window will open.

Select the image that I prepared for this manual. You can download it here - Link [drive.google.com]

The "IMAGE" button is now green.

And you can see the added image on the objects of the working grid.

Add the second layer to the channel "Diffuse". Watch for the "D" tab at the top to be active (green).

Once you add a new layer, you'll see that it is now active as in the image below. And the "IMAGE" button has become red again, because now this button belongs to the new active layer and there is no image in it.

In the viewport, you will see a new gray layer object. On the resultant channel object "Diffuse" and on the common resultant object, you will see a small gray square, this is the default image for the second layer. Since the image of the first layer has a size of 2048x2048px and the image of the second layer has not yet been added, we see this small gray rectangle because the default image for any layer is 256x256px and layers overlap on the upper left corner.

Let's add an image to this second layer.
Click on the "IMAGE" button, the image selection window will open.
Select the image that I prepared for this manual. You can download it here - Link [drive.google.com]
Now in the viewport we see the second added image and it completely overlaps the image of the first layer on all resulting objects by the fact that they are the same size 2048x2048px.

We see only the second layer on the common resultant object, since we did not use any blending modes between these two layers. Let's get this.
Between the layers there is a button as shown in the image below, press it.

Below, you will see 20 layers mixing modes. play with them, see how it works.

Have you played it? Now return the mix to the mode that was the default - "NORMAL". We will need this mode for the next part of this manual. The fact is that this mode mixes images using an alpha channel and since the uploaded image is in JPG format where the alpha channel is missing and when loading such images it is 255 (completely opaque), we will create an alpha channel for this image in the next part of this tutorial. We'll get the red paint from the second layer and apply to the first layer of the channel "Diffuse"
Getting alpha ( PART II )
Now extract the required alpha from the second layer.
Choose layer 2.

Looking at the panel above, we will see different effects as shown in the image.
These effects can be added to different layers.

Click on the "TRESHOLD" effect and you will see how this effect will be added to the effect queue below the layers panel.
Slide the effect slider to 35. And see how the image changes.

Now click in the list of effects on the effect "DESATURATE LLA". You will see how the new effect will be added down the effect queue.

As a result, you should get this image in the second layer as shown in the picture below.

Now add the "CONTRAST" effect and move the slider to the value of 200.

And now, once again, add the "TRESHOLD" effect without changing the effect value.
And add the "NEGATIVE" effect. You should get this kind of effect queue as shown in the image below.

The resulting image should be as shown below.

And now the most interesting.
Right-click the "IMAGE" button to call up the copy menu and in the menu that appears on the left click the "COPY RESULT IMAGE FROM THIS LAYER" button. So you copy the 2nd layer to the buffered image with all the applied effects.

Now disable all effects from the queue of this layer.
The effects are turned off by pressing the button on the effect panel to the right of the value field. It is shown in the picture below. Disable all.

Right-click the "IMAGE" button to bring up the copy menu and in the menu that appears on the left click the "PASTE RED TO-RGBA" button, pointing the mouse at the letter "A". This will copy the red channel of the image of the image in your buffer, into the alpha channel of the image in the 2nd layer.

Hehei !!!
We got what we need !
We took out the red paint of the second layer and put it on the first layer.

Now I say goodbye to you until next time!
Experiment without fear.
