Fast travel but be careful and make sure you saved before hand. Anyway while travelling you'll meet people called "wayfarers", basically random people that you will see over time. Some are full on knights and when you kill them you can have all their loot. If you're not strong enough to kill them then see if you can get behind them in 'knock them out', possible if they're not aggro'd. Another tactic is in your vitality to get 'sprinter', let's you run 20% faster but 20% less stamina when running (great against heavy armored opponents). It will still be hard when running but carry a bow and run far then peck a shot or 2 off at them and rinse and repeat until their dead.
