Intro and Key Terms
Hello Roguemantics! This is a guide to the abilities that you, your companions, and the enemies you will face can use in this game. I have broken them down into 3 sections: Offensive, Defensive, and Other. Offensive and Defensive are self-explanatory, and Other includes abilities that are not inherently offensive or defensive, most of which are your movement abilities.

There are also some key terms that you will need to know for this guide to make sense.
Slow-moving Attack - Slow-moving attacks are the only real-time element of the game. These attacks move slowly across the screen, giving you time to react BEFORE they reach their target. If you're quick, you can get one or more turns in while these attacks are still in motion.
Collide - Turns happen simultaneously, which means that attacks often pass by each other. Some attacks will interact when this happens, which I will refer to as colliding.

If you find something I have missed, or is incorrect, please leave a comment and I will make sure to fix it!
Offensive Abilities
Icon
Name
Description
Sword
Attack for 1 damage
Fire
Attack of fire for 1 damage, will cancel out if it collides with Ice
Ice
Basic attack of ice, will cancel out if it collides with Fire. Does no damage, but encases the target in a block of ice and causes them to lose a turn. Cannot be blocked by Shield. If it collides with Sword, it becomes Icy Sword in the direction the SWORD was traveling, which does 1 damage AND causes the freeze effect.
Ninja Star
Slow-moving attack for 1 damage
Axe
Slow-moving attack for 1 damage
Sword Jump
Combines the Sword and Jump abilities. The Sword is released at ground level.
Chain
Attack for 1 damage
Trident
A penetrating attack for 1 damage that continues until blocked or absorbed.
Vampire Bite
Attack for 1 damage, heals the caster for 1 damage if it hits.
Laser
A beam attack that hits eveyone in the direction the caster is facing at the same time. The attack happens instantly, before movement abilities such as jump happen. Cannot be absorbed by Void.
Defensive Abilities

Description
Shield
Catches incoming attacks and returns them in the direction they came from on the NEXT turn. Changing the direction you are facing will not change which direction attacks caught by Shield are sent out.
Kiss
Restores 1 health point. Can be blocked by Shield.
Ghost
The caster becomes intangible for 1 turn. Any attack that would have hit them on the turn it is cast will pass through them.
Quick Shield
A shield that returns incoming attacks immediately instead of on the next turn.
Song
Puts the target to sleep for 1 turn, and turns their action wheel to all sleep. Cannot be blocked by shield.
*Currently bugged and causes enemies to not actually lose their turn.
Shield Jump
Uses a shield and then jumps. Blocks attack at ground level only.
Absorbing Shield
Blocks incoming attacks, but does not return them. Blocks some attacks that Shield cannot.
Void
Travels half distance, then absorbs the next weapon attack to pass through it. If the next attack to pass through it is another Void, they combine into a projectile for 1 damage.
Other Abilities
Icon

Description
Jump
Jumps up, and returns to the ground on the next turn. Attacks at ground level on this turn will miss. If you use an attack the next turn (in the air), it will execute in the air, and will only hit characters that jump on the turn the ability is cast. On the turn you land, you can be hit by attacks at ground level.
Sleep
Do nothing. Only used by enemies.
Switch
Switches places of the caster and the target. Is faster than other abilities, so what would have hit the caster will hit the target and vice versa.
Classes
There are three classes that you can play as in the game, which you select at the starting screen. Each has its own set of starting abilities.

Warrior:
- Shield
- Jump
- Kiss
- Sword

Mage:
- Fire
- Ghost
- Kiss
- Jump

Ninja:
- Ninja Star
- Kiss
- Jump
- Quick Shield

Your companions do not follow these class guidelines, and can have other combinations of starting abilities.
Changing Abilities
You can change your abilities (or your companions' abilities) by getting new abilities from that cats you find on the map.

This kind of cat will take you to a shop, where you can choose from 3 abilities to buy. Once you select one, either walk to your companion (if you have one) to use it on them, or hit space to use it on yourself. Once you select which character will gain the ability, your action wheel will come up. Use the arrows to rotate the wheel to select which ability to replace.

This kind of cat will give you a gift ability. You can choose which character gets it and which action to replace just like at the shop, but you won't know what the new ability is until you appy it.
