Long time since i played the game but all i remember is that you can get food either by fishing, killing animals, collecting fruits or domesticating.
To domesticate an animal you already need a certain amount of food.
To fish i think you need some fishing barracks in your tribe in order to give the items of the barracks to your tribe members.
To collect fruits just click on your tribe members and click on a tree with fruits, they should go to it an collect the fruits, idr which buttons though, i remember that you can select them in the members panel on your right and you can click on the tree with either left or right mouse button, depends on your keybinds though, to do this you need your tribe members to be selected or a certain few of them.
Killing animals leave a carcass and you can do the same as above but by clicking on the carcass.;
