This week we will be introducing an exciting new system into Dirty Bomb; weapon skins. We wanted to take some time to detail just how this new system works, and address some of the questions we’ve been asked since the announcement.



What Are Weapon Skins?


Weapon skins allow you to customize the look of your weapon on your favorite Loadout Cards. It’s another layer of cosmetic-only customization; allowing you to be even more individual on the battlefield.


They come in different rarities (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Cobalt) and also a number of finishes (Scarred, Worn, Standard, Refined and Pristine).
Different condition's (you will be able to fix them with fragments Maybe? in the future)

How Are They Acquired?

Weapon skins come in Cases, similar to the Cases we have in the store currently. There are two types of Weapon Cases in Dirty Bomb; locked and unlocked.


Locked Cases drop very occasionally in-game in the post match screen. To open these Cases you will need to buy a key from the store (14,500 Credits). Unlocked Cases can be purchased in the store for 30,000 Credits


Keys will also be purchasable during Nuclear Winter for event currency. We will be offering more ways to get weapon skins in the future.


THE NUCLEAR WINTER UPDATE

We got weapon cards allowing us to put skins on any loadout card we want
(as long as they are using the correct weapon)

NEW SYSTEM: WEAPON CARDS
Weapon Cards are a brand new system in Dirty Bomb, allowing you to change the weapon skin on your favourite Loadout Cards. There are three skin sets in this first iteration for purchase, but also some festive skins that you will unlock just through playing in the event. You can read a full breakdown of the Weapon Card system in this news post.

NEW SYSTEM: MERC DECKS
Merc Decks are another new system in Dirty Bomb, allowing far more customisation for your favourite Mercs than ever before. You select your Merc, apply your Loadout Card and then equip a brand new Weapon Skin. You can also equip a Trinket per Merc, meaning that each of the three Mercs you take into battle will be fully customised.

Why Aren’t These Direct Purchase?


Initially weapon skins will only be available through Cases, purchased in the store or dropped in-game (and opened with keys). We will also implement Obsidian weapon skins in a future update which will be available for direct purchase.


Will Any Be Available Through In-Game Events?


Yes! We understand that it’s important you to get your hands on great stuff. To that end, everyone who plays Dirty Bomb throughout the Nuclear Winter event will get their hands on some weapon skins.


We’ll be detailing the Nuclear Winter event in more detail later this week, so keep your eye on our social channels!


What If I Don’t Care About Weapon Skins And Get A Case?


That’s fine! We know cosmetics aren’t for everyone, so you’ll be able to recycle any unwanted Cases, earning fragments to help you craft towards the Loadout Cards you want.


Can I Use Weapon Skins On Obsidian Loadouts?


Yes you can!


What About Steam Marketplace Support?


At the launch of the Weapon Card system we will not be supporting Steam Marketplace. However, in January we will be initially looking to implement Steam Marketplace support for dropped cases; allowing you guys to sell any cases you don’t want to open.


Moving forward we will explore extending our Steam Marketplace integration.

WEAPON CASE KEYS FOR CREDITS

That's right! Weapon Case Keys now have a Credit price so everyone can enjoy Weapon Cards without needing to spend a single RAD. We made this change as many of our long-term players have been asking for more items to spend their Credits on. We've also increased our Weapon Case drop rates by roughly 70 percent so you can make the most of this change:

FACEIT POINTS DISTRIBUTION
We announced that FACEIT point distribution was going to change a little. Here is how we’ve reworked it:

FACEIT points are now awarded to the top 100 players instead of just the top 10 (see table below)
Points system switched from ‘flat’ to ‘ranking’ mode (enables ranking bonus/malus)
New season start every two weeks





We know many of you were concerned with the prices of items in the store. That combined with the initial FP earn rates made it seem impossible for most of you to get FACEIT content. Well fret no longer, as here are the new costs for items:




Along with being earn-able, we still want them to be a bit of a challenge, so when someone sees you with a FACEIT skin, they know you fought hard to earn it.

QUEUING
Queuing is now solo only on the Official Splash Damage hubs.

FACEIT STATS
Stats for Dirty Bomb have been enabled in the FACEIT client.

FACEIT MISSIONS
FACEIT Misisons for Dirty Bomb will be enabled later in the week which will provide a new way to earn rewards for playing Dirty Bomb on FACEIT.

But you're missing Faceit Tølen MP screenshot, probably an oversight?

The guide is 100% Complete Big help from "47Fame" for the final 2 screenshots.
Nvidia is a unreleased skin pack that won't be coming out anymore.

If anyone has "screenshots" or the cases them selves i could use your help, I need "ranked weapon cases" if you have them please contact me.

Until then This guide is done.

Small update- Still lookin for Face It screenshots, I redid the icon for the guide (cause steam broke all small icons)

And I'm adding a section that compares the weapon skins to the loadout variant (ranked s4 weapon skin vs Ranked S4 Loadout)
