If you end up liking it, I highly recommend that you play through Castlevania: Symphony of the Night which was released on the original Playstation, but can easily be found emulated. That's the nearest thing to Super Metroid and it comes damn close, but still misses where Super Metroid hits. Yet, is still a fantastic game, which spawned the term Metroidvania, because it was so closely resembled the gameplay formula found in Super Metroid. Either way, both are classics.
I can't wait to see what you have to say about it after your playthrough. I beg you though, please play it through to the end, it deserves it.
Super Metroid
God I love that game!
