A lot of people have had freezing and crashing issues with 13-2. This guide should (hopefully!) walk you through the steps to stop this issue.

It will have 2 sections: one on how to fix the crashes to desktop, and the other on how to stop the game from freezing up.

This is a pretty simple fix, as all you have to do is turn off Steam Cloud saves to the game. Right click the game entry in your library, and choose Properties > Updates and untick Enable Steam Cloud Synchronisation. This should stop the random crashes.

Some people have this issue more than others. There are two steps to fix this:



Use the Large Address Aware[www.techpowerup.com] patcher to patch the ffxiii2_img.exe file. Select the ffxiii2_img.exe (in steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIII-2\alba_data\prog\win\bin) file in Large Address Aware and tick the checkbox, then click Save. (Follow as shown in the image.)




Next, set the same ffxiii2_img.exe file to run under Windows 7 compatibility mode. Go to the exe file, right click it, and choose Properties > Compatibility. Tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for: " and choose Windows 7. Click Ok. (Again, follow as shown in the image.)

If your game gets stuck at the Square Enix logo when you do this, uncheck the compatibility mode option and skip this step.
