5 tips you need to know
Készítők: Pyrogen és 2 közreműködő
I'm part of a clan on heroes and generals called The Jimmy squad, we are a group of people who play heroes and generals frequently, because of this, were all very good at the game. A few people in battles ask me for tips, whats the best way to level up ribbons etc. In this guide I will tell you very useful tips, that I see lots of people make. I hope you enjoy - Hopefully these won't be the exact same 'tips and tricks' you'll find on google, which are really obvious. - I might make different guides in the future concerning different topics. Message me on steam if you want a specific guide.

Introduction
If you are reading this, your probably a new player, if not, no worries, not all of us a born seasoned veterans at heroes and generals, or maybe your here just to check it out. Anyway, as said in the description, I've been playing the game for a long time, but I won't bore you with simple chat, here are a number of tips and tricks which *will* affect your gameplay - Hopefully for the better.
Tip #1 - try and stick to your role
This tip is fairly simple, and easy to get your head around. Lets say, you are defending a point, there are 4 of your team mates and yourself, trying to kill this last guy, (who you pretty sure, has a automatic rifle) in the corner of a room. If you are using a semi automatic rifle, (starter rifles or bolt actions) don't be the one to charge in head first, because its a sure way to get cut in two, buy the guy in the room.
Instead, let some someone with an auto himself (or herself) run into the room and try and kill him/her. If no one goes in, or the person that goes in, instantly dies, then its time to think about the entire room he is currently in, things you would need to think about are; Is there more than 1 entrance/exit, are there windows, does it have a roof - if not, could you shoot them from the top? Thinking like this will save your skin when trying to defend or even attack a point.
But beware, the enemy inside the room may come charging out at any second, in a last, desperate attack to take as many of you down as possible! And also remember to keep your head on a swivel, because the enemy may have reinforcements coming up behind you to try and free his friend.
So what I mean, by try and stick to your roles is, don't charge into the enemy with your semi, unless you have a major advantage (such as being above them, or at quite some range, and you know you are good at hitting the enemy). Whereas if you have an automatic, then your job is to try and charge in and kill anyone in your way, but don't forget to check your flanks when charging, someone might be behind some crates or debris.
Just as a mini-tip, that you should involve every step you take on the battlefield, is to keep your head on a swivel - all the time. You would have no idea, if someone is creeping up behind you to shoot you in the back of the head.
Tip #2 - Assess the situation - quickly!
On the battlefield you need to assess *everything*, anything could be a threat. Don't just take a quick glance over the battlefield, and think "Can't see anything obvious, must be safe", because you might be walking into a snipers killbox, or straight into the sight path of a tank.
Here are the things you need to do, before entering a new area, doesn't matter if its into a courtyard, a house, a massive open field, or a dense forest:
Whilst dodging left to right (Quickly hold down 'A' for two seconds, and then 'D' for a 2 seconds, and repeat) take a good look at the terrain, is someone out in the open? if they've spotted you, then open fire, retreat if necessary. If they haven't seen you, it might be a good idea to creep up on them and shoot them in the back of the head point blank range for that instant kill. If you can't instantly see anyone, or detect any movement, and your looking out into open fields, or a forest, then instantly take a closer look at the foliage - Its near impossible to see someone with a green pea camouflage sitting in a bush with a first glance. If you still can't see anyone, and you want to go in that direction, stick to the bushes, take cover behind trees etc. If its a massive open field, then for the love of god, don't walk out into the open.
If your entering a building, you need to do a few things - in this order: 1. Find good cover (full body cover) if there is little cover, stay and take cover by the door way. 2. Do as you would scan a forest or a field, do the same in here, but this time, it is imperative to check corners, and instead of foliage, crates, anything that could remotely be used as cover. If you still can't see anyone, then take cover, crouch, don't move, and listen for gunfire. You have no idea how useful this skill is. Knowing the sound of different guns can tell you a lot, if your in immediate danger (Check if you can hear or see bullets land next to your head, or fly by), approximately how many enemies or friendlies there are, if there is a vehicle and usually, a lot more. As, said in tip #1, its not always a wise idea to open fire on a group of enemies inside a building, but if you have to, try and flank the enemy without being seen (Get behind them, or beside them) wait until they stop moving, and open fire.
As you get better at the game, you will access the battlefield quicker, better and more effectively think about your course of action. This may seem like a lot to take in, but after a while, you will do this in a split second, giving you a tremendous advantage over your enemies.
Tip #3 - Aiming
Aiming will likely be the part you will fail at most when starting to play heroes and generals, and to be deadly honest, throughout your heroes and generals campaign, accuracy will increase dramatically, across all fps games. This is something I can't really give much advice on, however there are a number of factors you need to take into account before starting, or entering a gunfight, these are; Distance from target, speed of target, and what weapon you are using.
If you have a SMG, its advisable not to start a gunfight with someone with a scoped bolt action from 500 metres away. If you are getting shot at by this bush sniper, then your only chance is to take cover. However, if you have a rifle yourself, then take cover, and take a few potshots. Remember to aim slightly above the target. If the target is moving, then either lead your gun ever so slightly, otherwise, this is your time to run into better cover as well.
If you plan on becoming a sniper yourself, then here are a few tips: 1. Save up to buy a recon soldier. This way, you get a rifle with a fine line scope, instead of the terrible alternative, the T scope with your starter rifle. Not to mention you get a bunch of super cool light, armoured vehicles as a recon sniper. When sniping, remember to aim slightly above, and forwards of moving targets at a long distance. And remember to keep your head on a swivel, because one of the victims may be very upset, and try to come and kill you. Another way to avoid this is to constantly change positions, instead of sticking to the cover of the same tree and camoflage of the same bush, move around, just remember if there are counter-snipers around you, they can hear your rifle shots.
If you are a frontline warrior, with an automatic gun, always aim for the head - ALWAYS! People accuse me of hacking daily, when I have 30+ kills, and 3 - 4 deaths and 28 headshots. By aiming for the head, you don't hit your target as much, however, your spray will usually hit the targets head, instantly killing them. If you are on the frontlines with a automatic, its also a good idea to try and find a very defensive position, such us on top of a crate, which has some cover, or a roof.
If you are using your starter rifle, close - medium range, then I highly recommend that you upgrade your rifle to a 2 hit kill (instead of a 3 hit kill) and increase the rounds per minute, this will essentially give you a slow-firing automatic weapon, as long as you have a fast trigger-click finger. Don't think that just because this is a starter rifle, that its a bad weapon, it is in my opinion, better than some of the early tier smgs. There is one rule that you need to follow, if using a starter rifle - Don't buy the T scope at the end of the rifles ribbon! You will find its near impossible to see what your aiming at medium - long ranges.
Pistols, very simple, small, end tier handguns can pack quite a punch, a favourite sidearm amongst snipers, so when engaging them at close range, don't underestimate the pocket rocket.
Tip #4 - Ribbon grinding
Its a good idea to know what you have planned for this particular soldier, I *highly* recommend you start by focusing automatic weapons (SMG's or end tier infantry assault rifles), vehicle destruction and your physical training. Having a good automatic is a great way to get kills, and raise credits, which you will want for your next soldier, if you raise enough credits, you may even not have to 24/7 grind with your new soldier, as you can pay credits to upgrade ribbons, and upgrade your next weapon.
Vehicle destruction will be great once you enter gold matchmaking skirmishes, assaults and eventually war battles. In which you will find a number of people who have tanks, or light armoured vehicles, if you use panzerfausts to destroy enemy cars now, it will benefit you later when you have a bazooka, or anti tank mines to quickly disperse of annoying armoured vehicles.
In my opinion, physical training has the two most useful ribbons - the 'marathon man' ribbon, which increases your stamina by x% and the heavy duty ribbon, which decreases the amount of damage you take, the only heavy duty ribbon that is really worth it is the gold one, so in the mean time, stick to marathon man, its really useful when you need that extra burst of stamina to run out of that room which now has 4 grenades in. However, you may prefer to use a different ribbon, which is up to you.
Automatic weapons. You decide, you can grind for a lot longer, and get the sturmgehwer, which is an assault rifle, and my personal favourite weapon, because if you are taken by surprise, and in the shock, don't aim for the head, kills the enemy in 4-5 shots to the chest. The equivalent to the sturmgehwer in the other factions are the AVS-36 and the M1918, essentially, they are both the sturmgehwer, but with lower magazine sizes, different rpm and different sounds/appearance.
Ribbon grinding will be the one thing that will make you want to quit the game at times, likely hood is, you've just been spawn camped for an entire assault battle, and you blame the reto for this happening, or your stupid team mates for not advancing, or you might even get angry at yourself, you clearly could've killed that guy, but he got you with that lucky headshot. I will say this now, my old geography teacher used to tell me this, Practice Makes Permanent. If you practice all of these tips, if you practice aiming for the head with and assault rifle, sticking to your role, and not charging the enemy with a bolt action, you *will* find you get better at the game - If not, your a lost cause - sorry! (Just kidding) But really, if you practice, you will get better, and better, and better, until you are at the top of the scoreboards.
Tip #5 - Converse with team mates
Have you ever played a game, were no body talks in chat. The entire match. At the end, you might win, or might lose. You know you have, I know you have. However, what happens when people in that match start to talk to each other, tell people the location of snipers, tanks, mines. People sort out controlled charges, and attacks. I can tell you what happens when people converse to each other. You win. If everyone in your team works together, and are not all too bad at the game, you will find you have a 100% win rate with this group of people. If the enemy team are not talking to each other at all, you will almost always win.
Don't expect someone else to start a conversation, and try to plan things by theirselves, if someone starts to try and organise the team, try and help them, it might be just you two, you might get a few people to listen, or sometimes, though unfortuantly rarely, everyone to listen. One of my most recent matches, some random guy in the chat said "Anyone need a ride?" I replied "sure", he (or she) then said "Alright, my mate in my squad said there were some snipers in the hills, lets go take care of them" And I simply said "Okay, lets do that". By agreeing with this one other guy, we managed to completely halt the movement of the enemy. We laid minefields, counter-sniped, laid supressing fire over open areas people were running through. And you know what? We won that match. Simply because, two guys out about 20 got organised.
If you do the same, and get other people to join in, your power is limitless (well, until you meet someone with a johnsons LMG, and sprays your entire squad down). But its simple, its such a simple tip, you don't even need to be good at the game, you just need to know, if you press 'enter' and type a few words, that might win the match.
Conclusion
I hope these 5 tips really helped, this took me about an hour and a half to make, so I hope this helped you more than some patchwork guide you found on google. After hours, and hours of playing this game, you will learn to do all of these skills just automatically. These skills have improved my entire campaign off heroes and generals, significantly. And I hope it improves yours as well. Feel free too message me on steam for another guide or for a specific class, or even some more detail, on something I have previously said. One of the better guides I've seen, however I missed a bit about the role of each class. People have a tendency to completely neglect the role of their class. Especially the case with infantry (No offense guys) Infantry often just go charging after tanks or trying to be infantry snipers. They are pretty useless to their team in this way, there are dedicated classes for these roles. Tankcrewmen are good for fighting other tanks, ofcourse they can shoot some infantry along the way but as long as your team does not have tank superiority it's a tankcrewman's job to cover infantry from hostile tanks. Recons are pretty much there for the sake of holding off any enemies trying to move up on the objective and countersniping enemy recons, stuff like that. I often notice that I find infantry just trying to take roles of other classes onto themselves and as a result neglecting objectives losing us the match.
