How to get Rogue Warrior working on Windows 10

Warning ! Gratuitous expletives have been removed for your own protection.

Thought I'd put this here because there are some relatively obscure Windows 10 compatibility settings that need sorting, at least they do on my machine.

Symptoms:

1. Stuck at loading screen and/or flickering and corrupted display when swapping out to desktop to kill application.

2. Game default Vsync does not work even though frame rate is locked to monitor refresh.

Solution: See the following screen shot of the compatibility section of the Rogue executable properties. Compatibility mode is standard (it may work without that but I left it). But look further down for the important settings.

Solution
1. Set specific compatibility setting: "Disable full screen optimizations".

Update: Turning on "Override high DPI" is not necessary but I've not tested on other systems.

2. On my machine all usual methods of forcing Vsync fail. I eventually found that "D3DOverrider.exe" did it for me (AMD card).

This is explained here: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Glossary:Vertical_sync_(Vsync)

you know you could just inject dgvoodoo2 and run the game via dx11/12 and solve all your issues right?

If you're dealing with crashing, use the WineD3D files mentioned here:

Eh, I had to use the Nvidia control panel to force vsync for this game.

You are my hero! I have been looking for a working fix for this game for months! I finally ran across your guide today! On all of the fixes that I have seen, no one even mentioned the fact that Windows 10 could be the issue. I was just about to completely remove the game from my computer, until I saw this guide! Thank you for posting this!
