I make no guarantees any of this will work properly for you, you do this at your own risk

I have not fully tested this, you may have broken saves or quests not loading properly.

Transferring save files is as easy as copy and paste

Go to your documents directory where Fallout 4 saves are


Copy the save folder

Go to this directory and paste

That is it, the saves should show up in the load menu for Fo4 VR.
Copying/installing DLC and mods
This is the same as the save files. You only have to copy the files from

Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data

to

Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4 VR\Data

Folder layout should look something like


That's it, you are done installing/copying DLC and mods.

The next step is how you can get them to load
Loading mods
These steps are not refined and have many redundancies, however it does work and mods will load if you follow this.

I HAVE NOT TESTED SCRIPT EXTENDER OR SCRIPT EXTENDER MODS

The first thing you will want to do is navigate to this directory

C:\Users\YOURACCOUNT\AppData\Local\Fallout4

In this directory you will want to copy

DLCList.txt
Plugins.txt

Go to

C:\Users\YOURACCOUNT\AppData\Local\Fallout4VR

Paste the two files there

The next step is to naviate to

C:\Users\YOURACCOUNT\Documents\My Games\Fallout4VR

There should be 3 files in this directory

Fallout4Custom.ini
Fallout4Prefs.ini
Fallout4VrCustom.ini

Open the Fallout4Custom, Fallout4VrCustom, and Fallout4Prefs in a program like Notepad++

In all 3 files paste this at the bottom(it may only be needed in one, feel free to try it in any)

Congrats, mods, saves, and DLC* should work
Weapon, armors, levels, and some save data seems to be working, though some quests might reset.






*DLC is untested, I have not loaded any saves using that content yet. When I try playing Fo4 VR again later, I will test out DLC levels and update this tutorial if need be.


If you followed these steps any mods you download off the Nexus should work.

I'm beginning to feel like I'm HighJacking your guide. I have a second warning... but I just found how to start a guide, so I'm going to place my information there. You can use it here or delete my comments here if you wish. Sorry if I've crossed any lines... and Massively appreciate all your help:).

1st Warning. After a few hours of game play I took a break; thus far No Problems, but I've been focused 'Only' on Building StarLight as a Settlement/Mercer Station. However... returning from my break I noticed I didn't have an Exit Save. Before Logging off, I do a Quick Save, a Hard Save, and then Exit for a Save/Exit Save. Which has been working since playing FO4VR. But now... since adding the DLCs, for the first time the Exit Save doesn't seem to be getting created. I exited again, just to see... and it definitely is Not Creating Exit Save.

For me this isn't an issue; as stated, I always make 2 saves just before exiting; but for those who just Exit... Be Careful!!!

But otherwise... Again... No other issues so Far!!!!

I have no idea how to make a guide like this, so please feel free to add this to yours (if, of course, you feel comfortable with it).

Note: I haven't really tested the below thoroughly. I simply did the steps... ran my Saved Game... and A). Noticed all the usual messages when the DLCs are first installed (New or Save Game)... and B). Checked the Settlement Build Menus to see if the new stuff was there... and it was... and C). Checked to see if my Missions were all still 'Appearing' to be normal... and they seem to be.

So with that said: I made these changes on 12-15-2022... and will come back and post more When and If my game shows signs of Breakage.

4 Simple Steps, and I'm pretty sure I've got all the DLCs :)... Yip!!!

Step 1: Back-Up FO4VR Data Folder (All) (Copy... Do Not Move)
-Go get a Sandwich; this will take a moment

Step 2: a) Copy FO4 Data Folder (All) to FO4VR Data Folder
b) Say 'NO' to Any/All Replacements

Step 3: Go to... C:\Users\[Name]\AppData\Local\FallOut4 and Copy DLCList.txt

Step 4: Go To... C:\Users\[Name]\AppData\Local\FallOut4VR and Paste the above (DLCList.txt)
-Ensure all DLCs listed in the above file (DLCList.txt) have been copied to your Data folder via Step 2 Above. Note: You do have to own the DLCs (via FO4) in order for this to work.

Just Food for Thought: This is not a Cheat or a Steal... it's just moving your Legally owned DLCs from FO4 to FO4VR.

I hope this works for everyone... and continues to work for me :).

p.s. Can you elaborate on 'Some Quest Might Reset'... I'm about 40% complete on the RailRoad / Institute QuestLine; I really wouldn't care if I had to start it over, but I'm currently building the Teleporter, and I'd hate to Break the Game.

Doh! Regarding my first Post... Never mine, I just answered my own question. ROFL ;)
