Chill's ToS Reshade v1.1
By iChillum
Looking for a richer, more cinematic experience for Tales of Symphonia? Look no further! This is my first ReShade I'm releasing to the community, and I hope it is one that you all enjoy. While I tend to be more subtle with many of my Reshades, with this one I wanted to amp things up a bit.

Summary
Looking for a richer, more cinematic experience for Tales of Symphonia? Look no further! This is my first ReShade I'm releasing to the community, and I hope it is one that you all enjoy. While I tend to be more subtle with many of my Reshades, with this one I wanted to amp things up a bit.

This ReShade was tested and designed with Kaldaien's TSFix along with texture DLCs in 4k.
https://github.com/Kaldaien/TSF/releases

I highly recommend this for an optimal experience!
Important Note
Please note that I select shaders and their settings based on each individual game I create a Reshade for. This takes time, and I hope my efforts show. It seems common for many creators to reuse the same Reshade across games regardless of art style, mood or setting.

Please feel free to take a moment to checkout my other Reshades if you have a moment!

Required Shaders
Note that the instructions provide guidance on downloading these shaders. Downloading only the necessary shaders will help guarantee additional game performance.

-AdaptiveSharpen
-AmbientLight
-BloomAndLensFlares
-Clarity
-Colourfulness
-Curves
-Emphasize
-FXAA
-GaussianBlur
-Levels
-LumaSharpen
-SMAA
-Tonemap
-Vibrance
Installation
1.Download Download the ReShade installer from https://reshade.me and run it.

2.Select TOS.exe (\%SteamDirectory%\steamapps\common\Tales of Symphonia) and click on the pre-selected graphics API (Direct X 9).

3.Confirm the installation of standard shaders when the installer's pop-up message opens, and install the following shaders: AdaptiveSharpen,AmbientLight,BloomAndLensFlares,Clarity,Colourfulness,Curves,Emphasize,FXAA,GaussianBlur,Levels,LumaSharpen,SMAA,Tonemap,Vibrance

4.Download this preset HERE[sfx.thelazy.net], and rename the file to "YOUR_PRESET_NAME.ini". The most important part is changing the ".txt" file to ."ini."

5.Run Tales of Symphonia; be patient as the game can take longer to load all of the ReShade shaders.

6.Open ReShade menu with "Shift+F2" and use the drop down menu to select the .ini file you just put in your bin folder. Keep hitting the continue button until the boxes turn from red to grey/clear.

7.If you are happy with the settings, Click on the Settings tab.

8.Navigate to Usage Mode and change to Performance. This will ensure the best possible performance for low-end systems while running ReShade
Notes and Known Issues
~ The ambient lighting and bloom settings will brighten some menus in favor of the in-world lighting. Feel free to turn this off if it bothers you. I will look to modify the tolerance in future versions; this was my first Reshade, and I'm learning quickly!
Performance
While I design and test all of my Reshades with performance in-mind, my hardware settings and resolutions may differ from yours. While mood is important, framerate should be the most important if you are a true gamer. Nothing will be "one size fits all", so play around and find the right compromise of performance and quality.

My PC Hardware: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/iChillum/saved/#view=dkYLD3
~ At the time of this Reshade release, I was using a EVGA GTX 980 SC
~ CPU is overclocked to 4.8GHz Turbo speed, and CPU cores are unparked.

I followed the instructions and something isn't working right. Step 1 was great, step 2 was great, but on step three there was this long list of different shaders from different people/github pages. I made sure the top one, the "standard" was the only one clicked, and then it installed but there was no option to select which shaders installed.

Step 4 was fine. I got the file and changed it to .ini and that was good. As for step 6, the menu opened with the "home key" which is fine, and I selected the renamed YOUR_PRESET_NAME.ini but there was no continue button and no red boxes to turn gray/clear.

And yes, I did go into the d3d9.ini and add the text that Jasmer said to use,

This is amazing with the TSfix, I did have to turn off the bloom effect was a little too much otherwise perfect reshade for much better effects and coloring.

Step by step for anyone else having this problem. TSFix and ReShade use their own d3d9.dlls, and may not work together for some people.

1.) Install reshade.
2.) Rename d3d9.dll to ReShade32.dll
3.) Install TSFix.
4.) Open d3d9.ini (may have to launch TOS to generate one) and paste the following into the top of the file:

[Import.ReShade]
Architecture=Win32
Filename=ReShade32.dll
Role=ThirdParty
When=Early

I forgot to mention when you install reshade you have to rename its d3d9.dll so it doesn't overwrite the one from TSFix. The little snippet I posted needs it to be named ReShade32.dll in order to import it.

Thanks life is a little busy at the moment but I will try to look at this soon. This effect will be the absolute icing. Cheers and Thanks

@Erin, fantastic... Thank you! Not sure why but hadn't received notification on his last message. I'll look at appending a note to the guide shortly.

@JamestheWicked I don't know if you figured this out yet, but I couldn't get reshade working with TSFix at first. I asked on the TSFix page and found a solution.

I added the following to d3d9.ini, just below the import.tsfix settings.

[Import.ReShade]
Architecture=Win32
Filename=ReShade32.dll
Role=ThirdParty
When=Early

I can not get this to work along Kaldaiens 4k fix, I got to work seperate and it removes the effects from the 4k fix. I like the color and lighting effects from your reshade. Am I missing something with install? Thanks for any help.
iChillum  [author] 25 Dec, 2017 @ 6:59pm
@JamestheWicked - Fortunately there shouldn't be an order conflict with using the 4k patch. I did Kaldaien's first, then ReShade, all things considered. Enjoy!
